We had an incredible stay at James’s campsite! The site was exactly as pictured, if not better. It was clear that so much thought went into creating the perfect camping experience. It truly had everything you could think of for camping and then some, so we never found ourselves wishing we had brought anything extra.
The river was absolutely beautiful and made for a peaceful setting. We spent time fishing and had an amazing time. It was one of the highlights of our trip.
James was also a fantastic host. He stopped by to make sure we had everything we needed and made us feel welcome without ever being intrusive. It was obvious he genuinely cared about his guests having a great experience.
If you’re looking for a campsite that’s well-equipped, relaxing, and hosted by someone who goes the extra mile, I can’t recommend this place enough. We will definitely be back!

Hipcamp tells me I’ve spent 44 nights outside with their platform… in that time, I’ve met a lot of hosts and enjoyed some amazing camping experiences, but I can say with confidence that what James and Lynn have put together is special. They put a tremendous effort into the space, and you feel that warmth the second you pull up. The vibe here is just so welcoming and inviting. It doesn’t feel like you're just renting a piece of dirt for the night; it feels like you are being welcomed into a really intentional, beautiful space. The location itself is incredibly unique and beautiful, but it’s all the tiny details that blew me away. You can tell they really thought about the camper's experience. Everything from how the site is set up to those small, thoughtful touches makes a difference in how comfortable you feel. It is so rare to find a spot that nails both a stunning location and top-tier hospitality. This place is easily a highlight of my 44 nights outdoors, and I'll definitely be back.
Stunning campground, all-around great experience. Beautiful scenery and peaceful, private location. Small details made my stay super easy like plenty of battery-powered lanterns, a camp stove, washing-up and potable water jugs, multiple tables and cooking area, large fire ring with cooking grate, extra blankets, extra supplies - nice attention to detail! Easy access to the river was perfect for floating, swimming, fishing or just sitting on the bank and watching the wildlife go by (I saw deer, hawks, jumping fish... even a bald eagle!) Parking my car next to the campsite made things super easy for loading and unloading as well. I'll be returning!

We had an amazing stay! James and Lynn were wonderful hosts and made my family and me feel so welcome. Everything was exactly as described, and we had such a fun and relaxing weekend together. We had a lovely trip!! James and Lynne showed us to the site and then we had the spot all to ourselves! Everything was clean and as advertised. There was a firepit with wood and a small grate, a single burner coleman stove with fuel, plenty of potable water, linens and blankets for the bed (though some of the blankets smelled a little like dog), a couple picnic tables and a trash can. The site is beautiful and the river was so nice to swim in when the sun was shining on it.

This was our 4th time camping here, and we keep coming back because it truly has everything we love in a campsite. The location is gorgeous and private, right on the river — perfect for tubing, fishing, or just sitting by the water with a chair and a drink. The firepit setup makes evenings extra cozy, and the tent deck is such a great touch (plenty of space and keeps everything nice and dry).
One of the best parts is how dog-friendly it is. Our pups run free in the open fields, splash in the river, and nap by the fire like they own the place 🐾. It’s so rare to find a spot where both people and dogs feel this relaxed. It’s the kind of place where you can totally unplug, laugh around the fire, and just enjoy being outdoors with family (and fur family).
After four visits, I can honestly say this is our go-to camping escape — peaceful, scenic, and full of little details that make it special every single time. Can’t wait for round five!
This has been the fourth or fifth time to the Hipcamp site and it never fails to please. Annual family fam-camp at Skipping Rock. The Wengers are just fantastic host for Skipping Rock and their other site, Honeysuckle Hideaway. Skipping Rock is just so relaxing. The boys fished all day. Smallies, Rock Bass, Suckers and Brim make for great fishing. Well stocked fire wood, abundant potable water, clean privy, and well kept platform tent makes it a place to relax and have no worries. The Wengers support your stay and are just the friendliest of people. Greeted with a hello, smile and a handshake. Just great people. There is fishing, but at night on a cloudless evening, the stars just light up the sky. Stargazing is a hidden bonus. Wildlife entails deer, Whippoorwills, and the rambunctious squirrel. Overall, a great stay to relax, bring the family together and enjoy nature.
I can’t leave a higher review for this camp and the couple who owns it. James and his wife were so kind and helpful. They really went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed! The camp is perfect from start to finish. Our dogs really enjoyed everything as well! James and his wife thought of everything when designing this property. 1000000000000/10. We will definitely be back!

This place was amazing! It has all of the camping things you can just about think of! James is so kind and the little private riverfront beach area was a blast for our pup! 10/10 would recommend- we will most definitely be back:)

Hosting. Stayed with both my kids this time, they loved every minute. Firewood and water is provided, the tent is cozy, and there were plenty of fish!
I highly recommend this place. My grandson and I have stayed here every July since 2022. That’s four years as of this year. We keep coming back because the place is amazing. It’s a secluded campsite with a wonderful beach and river access. My grandson also loves to wander around the farm, play with Peaches the cat, watch the farm in action baling hay, and just enjoy the beauty, fresh air and sunshine. The owners are friendly and accommodating. Check it out, you’ll love it.
I’m always worried about the fishing situation. No worries here. The stream is actually wider than it looks. It takes a full cast to barely get across to the other side. I’d say it is at least 7-8 feet at the deepest points. I caught 50-75 fish in 2 days. Mostly smallmouth, but also caught sunfish, rock bass and one of the biggest chubs I’ve ever seen. Everything else was top notch. Shade, water jugs, wood, fire starting supplies, kerosene burner, cooking supplies, porta potty, clothesline, lanterns, inner tubes, games and more. Show up and have fun!

We thoroughly enjoyed our weekend…peaceful, serene, easy access to water/fishing/tubing. 10 out of 10. Hosts were very kind and accommodating.
We plan to go back with our kiddos next time.
Great site. Really friendly hosts. They provide everything, from firewood to hot plate and utensils. First day there was crazy rain but we had a nice time chilling in the tent to the sound of the storm. Our dogs LOVED the river. Would come back in a heartbeat!

James’ land was the perfect spot for camping, right on the river! There was another site not too far away but it was around the bend which made for privacy. Highly recommend!
We (my husband + our 2 bulldogs) had a fantastic time camping on this beautiful family farm. The setting was peaceful, scenic, and a perfect place to unplug and recharge. We'd send photos, but lost power to our cell phones, which was a blessing. The hosts were incredibly welcoming and made us feel right at home. The site was well maintained and next to a creeek. There was plenty of space, clean facilities, and a fire pit for cooking. We wish we could have stayed more than one night. If you are looking for a peaceful getaway full of charm, relaxation and natural beauty, this is the spot. Highly recommend and looking forward to coming back!
This place is awesome. Spent 3 nights with my son and had a great time. The spot is isolated and the rock wall opposite the river is awesome. The owners make sure you have the essentials so you don't have to worry about forgetting anything. Plenty of great firewood and a perfect place to pitch a tent within the trees. Will come back this summer when the water is warmer!

This was our second time staying at Skipping Rock on James and Lynn's farm. They were very welcoming and helpful just as I remembered! The campsite was very easy to get to and had all of the amenities to make camping a breeze! Will definitely be back in the future.

Skipping Rock is a truly magical place. This is our second time there and we enjoyed it immensely. We took three teenage boys with us and they had a blast skipping rocks, cooking, making s'mores. Our hosts, James and Lynn, are top notch. They are so warm and welcoming and provided everything we needed. They were just a text away, but gave us privacy and space, which made it feel like we had the whole farm to ourselves. The boys weren't allowed to go swimming this time because of dangerous conditions. I was a little worried they would get bored not having that option but that was not the case at all! Thank you, James and Lynn! We can't wait to go back!

James and Lynn’s spot on Middle River was lovely as were they. The location was very peaceful and exactly as described. My kids spent hours hunting crawfish in the river, even with headlamps on in the dark:) Meeting Peaches the barn cat was a highlight too!
James and Lynn are great hosts. The campsite is clean and well-provisioned. They are on-site and available if you need anything.
One of the nights we stayed there, a storm rolled through with pouring rain and 30mph+ winds blowing. The tent was safe, sound and dry throughout the storm. At the very beginning of the storm, we received a really nice text message from James asking if we were okay or needed anything.
Really nice people with a beautiful campsite right beside a peaceful river.
James and Lynn were so attentive and helpful and camp site exceeded expectations in every way! We will definitely be back soon!

I don’t have enough great things to say about these folks and this spot. They kindly welcome you to the site, which is gorgeous and secluded. It’s terrific for dogs with lots of room to roam, the site is on a spot directly on the river that’s very lazy & perfect for floating. James also supplies virtually everything you need in a very organized and efficient way. I’ve gone every summer for the last three years, and hope to continue for many more!
My grandson and I have stayed here three summers in a row, and we keep returning because it's wonderful.
First, the campsite itself. It is always clean and well-stocked. Everything you need will be there ready for you. There's great access to the river, where my grandson enjoys skipping rocks and swimming.
Second, the surrounding environment. The campsite is located in a secluded spot on a large working farm. The farm is drop-dead gorgeous! We love to hike all over it, play with the cats in the barn, and watch the farm action.
Third, the host. Great people. They go out of their way to make us feel welcome.
I can't recommend the place highly enough. Give it a try!
