This was a 55-acre farm, split in half to accommodate a bypass through Charlottesville, so the previous owners had to give up half the land, and actually moved the house down to the other half of the property! They had to build a land bridge to get to the new home site, so they turned the bridge into a dam and created a beautiful large swimming pond, complete with beach and gazebo. My wife Stephanie and I bought the property in early 2017 and have turned it into a private horse farm, adding pastures, a riding ring, and 6-stall barn. There are ~21 horses who live on the property. The property is unique in that you can hardly see another house from anywhere on the property and yet we are only 2 miles from Barracks Rd. Shopping Center, and 4 miles from the University of Virginia.

The Cedar Grove sites 1, 2, and 3 are along the banks of Passage Creek located within a sparse, groomed Cedar grove. They are all a short walk (or drive) to the lake and beach amenities. Each site has varying access to the creek, so check out the site details. These sites are extra large and can accommodate multiple family groups, as well as, travel trailers of all sizes up to off-road motorcoaches in site 1. There are no hookups, so just boondocking. The Lakeside Mountain Stream site is very secluded, nestled between the mountains and the lake. It overlooks our 5-acre lake with mountain views in the background. The "# person" per site listing considers adults, not children... bring a whole crew of kids (try to have enough supervision - if there is such a concept!) It seems like we made this place for the kids in ourselves and when actual kids see it they go wild. The last bunch were running and yelping with their picked flowers all round and round in the labyrinth for hours! This was a perfect camp site!! Went with my family & took our two dogs. The dogs had a blast, plenty of space while still having some fencing around to keep them from being too crazy. It was private and the stars were great. Host was wonderful, everything was easy to find, and the bathroom was clean. It was daddy long legs galore but personally if i had to pick one bug to see a bunch it would be them. Harmless and on items more than people. Overall a great trip!!

This was our second time camping there and we'll be back again. We have a teardrop camper and the site was perfect for our needs. Beautiful farm and absolutely perfect location.

I couldn’t believe how peaceful this place was, so close to town. Standard camp spots, nice tree canopies, and generally level. Waking up to soft rolling hills and grazing horses (and 2 very charming mules) hit the spot!! Highly recommend.- tho I confess part of me wants to keep this gem a secret - so it’s always available for when I return! ;) Thank you again!

Weekend Trip to Sunrise by the Pond

This place was absolutely beautiful. The owner and the property are welcoming in thier respective areas. The pond is beautiful, the animals are beautiful, and the site has more than enough. Bring pillows and blankets, pots and pans, but other than that, you are good to go. Wonderful stay here.

2 nights at Private camp site with water access to Lake Anna, VA

Robert's site was as advertised. Super privacy, full hookups. Robert was there to meet us, blowing leaves and putting things in tip-top shape for our stay. We enjoyed the firepit (bought some wood from him) and spent the day exploring Mineral (a couple of consignment shops, 53rd Winery--awesome--and Tim's Restaurant on the lake). This place is just under an hour from our home and great for quick getaways. It's on our list to do again!

1 night at Small Potatoes Farm

The site was spacious and private. The prepaid firewood was waiting for us next to our fire pit when we arrived. Carol was delightful and gave us a tour of the grounds, then gave us our space. The outdoor shower was an adventure as it was about 40° outside (but the hot water was nice!) It was a bit of a hike to the toilet, but worth it for the privacy surrounded by trees
