Bob and Susanne are the nicest people. So warm and welcoming. They were very generous with their time. The animals on the farm are very fun and incredible experiences for kids. The property is right up on the beautiful lake manassas. Just a great time and memories. Thank you Bob and Susanne !

We really enjoyed our stay at Foxfield! The location was peaceful, making for a good night's sleep. We were a quick drive from great hiking and good places to eat. The pool was very nice and the RV was very clean and equipped with everything we needed during our stay. Steve was very kind and greeted us when we arrived. Weekend Trip to Sacred Roots Herbal Sanctuary

This is my 2nd time HipCamping at Sacred Roots - first time in the wonderful and badass treehouse. The platform - outside of the 2-sided screened-in futon/sleeping room - has 2 chairs and enlought space for a few people to hang out. Ground level has a fire pit, counter and picnic table/benches. it is absolutely gorgoues and it's just really really awesome to sleep up in the trees. It's an easy hang - parking lot and a pull up to un/load gear is close to the TH. Also - it's well built and sturdy and i felt completely at ease. i love Sacred Roots in general. it's beautiful and it's name is accurate!

Weekend Trip to Foxfield Farm

I love staying at Foxfield Farm. This was my second visit and it was just as excellent as I remembered. I swam, made a fire, took several leisurely walks on the winding road past the neighboring farms. It's such a peaceful place but just 15 minutes from Downtown Sheperdstown where I enjoyed shopping and a nice meals. Also very close to State/National Park and many other outdoor adventure options! The RV is very clean and the hosts and their dogs are lovely. I will be back!

My partner and I had a wonderful stay at Sistermoon Farm, and I can’t recommend it enough! The tent is in a peaceful & private spot surrounded by birdsong by day and fireflies by night. It was magical. Maria is a kind and responsive host, and the setup has all the comforts you need for a relaxing night away. A perfect getaway!

I stopped through for one night on my way from FL to upstate NY. The fresh breeze, soughing ancient trees, and gently stunning views were a soothing and reinvigorating balm after a long muggy drive. Tamara is a friendly, interesting, interactive host, and her set-up here is truly a work of art - and an immersive history lesson. She is only the fourth owner of this very special property - which is 130 years old, surrounded by dairy farms, most of which are industrializing, but the land (still shared with the palpable presence of a widespread, long-established Mennonite community). The experience gives a keen and enveloping sense of what things were like back-when. The sleeping quarters and water closet are in the sweet little building behind her house that was the 'summer kitchen' at one time. While the accommodation is basic by our persnickety modern standards, it holds long-lost, historically accurate ways intact, and has much to offer those who are willing to relax into its rich and rewarding charms. Tamara kept close company with me during my visit, and I relaxed into this as well, thanks to her warm, funny, and knowledgeable personality. Her gorgeous Gmn Shepherd, Willow, friendly cats and laying hens joined in the hostessing, and Willow passed the night with me in my little dwelling, protecting me while I slept in the loft, and the whole property on her night patrols. Door open! A solid sleep helped me finish my trip with fortitude. Bring your kids, or someone's kids!

Weekend Trip to Maryland Health Society

The cabin was so comfortable and exactly what I needed. I spent probably half of my weekend enjoying the bug-free front porch, listening to music (and playing!), and just having a totally empty brain. The people, though - they really made the stay! I was welcomed into conversations as though I'd been part of the community for years. There was room to explore! The pool was a welcome surprise - I only say that because I'm not much of a pool guy. This was where folks gathered to talk, read, snack... whatever! What a wonderful community!

Weekend Trip to Beespoke Farms

This is truly one of the best stays I’ve ever experienced. It’s the closest I’ve come to living in nature and enjoying life on a working farm. The property is home to goats, sheep, chickens, and alpacas - and we had the chance to meet them all during a lovely farm tour led by CJ, the wonderful host who lives on-site and cares for the animals and land. CJ is awesome he answered all our questions and suggested places to visit near by as well. They have fresh eggs which we purchases while leaving the farm. There’s also a small outdoor fireplace that made the nights extra cozy, and if you’re a sunrise person, this is a great farm for sunrise views. It’s an authentic and peaceful farm stay at a great price. Just keep in mind that it’s not a typical, fully-furnished Airbnb - the washroom setup is minimal - but that’s part of the charm. If you’re looking to slow down, disconnect, and experience real farm life, I’d highly recommend this place.

We had a fantastic stay in the full moon dome! My friend and I had a girls getaway with my dog and this was the perfect spot. Beautiful location and well decorated dome. It was so peaceful in the rain and magical to wake up to the sun and the cows the next day. We would definitely return and highly recommend a stay at the farm! (Bonus for the delicious homemade muffins and scones for breakfast)

Camps at Evensong Farm

Evensong Farm is a preserved historic farm adjacent to the Antietam National Battlefield. We have set up two, almost identical, sites on a 60 acre parcel of our farm which is very private for our campers, but allows access to the lovely Antietam Creek. The sites themselves are about 500 feet apart so, while they maintain privacy when booked by different parties, can also be booked together for group stays. We have been hosting campers at our "glampsites" since 2021. Each off-grid site has a 12x16 platform with a 10x12 canvas side wall tent, a firepit and chairs, a cooking area with a grill and sink for washing up, a picnic table and benches, and a private bathroom with a composting toilet and solar shower bag. The main tent is set up for 2 people, although 4 is possible. The sites can handle a max of 12 people, with the use of additional tents (BYO or you can set up some of ours). We provide an electronic camp guide to all of our campers that include our recommendations for things to do in the area, as well as camping tips and other handy info. Inside the tent you will find a queen size bed, side tables, and a cafe table and chair set. We have put down foam flooring and a carpet for your comfort and provide numerous battery powered lights, lanterns and fans. In cold months we can add a propane heater to keep the chill away. We also have some games, maps of the area, decks of cards, and a fire extinguisher. Stepping outside the tent you'll find our long rainfly creates a covered porch where you can relax on our provided chairs. There are additional chairs around the firepit and each firepit has a cooking grate so you can cook over your campfire. We provide one bundle of firewood (including kindling) per night with your reservation. We do sell additional firewood, if needed. In our kitchen area you will find a picnic table and chairs, 5 gallons of drinking water, a clean up table that includes a foot operated pump sink with an additional 5 gallons of washing water, a grill (one site has propane and the other has charcoal), trash and recycling bins, grill tools, lighters, plus dish and hand soaps. Our farm is a mile and a half from the town of Sharpsburg, MD, home of the Antietam National Battlefield (and Nutter's Ice Cream Shop). You will find the Appalachian Trail to our east and the C&O Canal to our west (10 minute drive to either).

Stay in our airy platform tent nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains just off the Appalachian Trail. An hour from DC, it's a quick get away for a few quiet nights. Once you're here you can choose from dozens of hikes, swims, breweries and vineyards all within minutes of home. The tent is cozy and quiet complete with an outdoor shower, latrine, tiny kitchen, and big back porch to watch to the sunset. The tent includes a small kitchen with a cooktop and small refrigerated cooler for keeping perishables. Only the basics are here like a sink, glasses, cutlery and pots and pans so if you'd like to get fancy we recommend bringing a few things along. The shower gets quite hot so don't worry if the forecast is chilly you'll still have a warm place to rinse off.
