Learn more about this land: Located 5 miles from the Blue Ridge Parkway and Appalachian trail is a small camping area with a bathhouse that includes a toilet and hot shower. A mountain stream rushes through the campground providing a peaceful and tranquil stay. During the months of November through April I can stock the stream with rainbow trout during your stay. Book a stocking through the hipcamp app experiences for a paid extra experience for $55 a day 6 fish limit. Outside enjoy a shady relaxing nap next to the stream. We have a few other campsites, well-spaced apart, so you can expect to see other campers periodically throughout your stay in passing or in common areas such as the toilet. You will be able to enjoy privacy and all the serenity that the outdoors has to offer! There is cooking grate on the fire pit so you can cook up some delicious meals. A friend of mine and I stayed at Forest site. To me it was the second time to camp at Forest site. We had a very relaxing beautiful autumn night with a nice camping fire. Gail was a great host as always —- kind, considerate and generous. Gail let my friend use her sauna house in the morning even when she was quite busy. My friend enjoyed taking the sauna. The forest was beautiful in the sun light reflected by the fall foliage. It was even nicer to be able to see a few horses among the trees at a distance, eating hay quietly. The well maintained forest condition suggests that Gail has been a very diligent worker.

This is a private site near a nice little creek for the youngins to play around in along with a big field and woods. The road noise isn't too bad. Its far enough away it just becomes part of the background. The amenities on site (table, cover, fire ring, etc.) are a nice touch too.

Gail’s place was so lovely. Nothing beats waking up to see the horses out in the pasture. The outhouse and shower were well maintained, and there was plenty of firewood on the property for use. There were a lot of places to hike nearby and some nice breweries and wineries around the area. Will definitely be back!

What a great spot for an overnight camp. Even a weekend getaway would be nice. But for us we stayed here for the night to head down to Overland Expo in the morning. It’s secluded, no one else around besides the occasional car coming down the road. A little wet but no problems with 4WD. Lisa was a great host as well. Nice, accommodating and fast with responses. 11/10 would recommend for a quiet night away.

#5 is a great spot! We had enough space to set up a tailgate tent with our vehicle. The spot is set up on high ground so there's plenty of space for rain water to drain away. The spot also overlooks a stream though we didn't venture out to it. Make sure to read Chris' directions for how to find the campsite so you don't miss the driveway you should take to enter the property. The bathroom and shower were adequate and about a 2 minute walk from #5. All in all, great place and I would stay again if I'm in the area.

….what a wonderful experience! Gail has created a space that is relaxing and enjoyable in a beautifully natural setting. From the first greeting by Tanner (dog) to waving goodbye it was a great experience. The grandkids loved the setting, petting the horses, and the great experience that our family had. Gail was gracious and accommodating. There was plenty of firewood for using the pie irons and making s’mores, and the outdoor shower was awesome! Slept wonderfully each night. We look forward to returning there again.
