The Farm was originally named 2nd 4o by my parents. They planned to live the 2nd forty years of their lives together on the farm. My parents both grew up on the southside of Chicago - where having a tree in your yard meant that you had "made it". They decided to use the land to grow Christmas trees. This did not last long :) but the saplings my dad planted by hand are still here & maybe 70' tall!
Then my husband & I bought The Farm in 2017 for the 2nd forty years of our life & my parents built their little house right here. My husband and I immediately knew that our dream was to grow a different kind of "tree", so in 2019 we were among the first group to receive our license to grow hemp. We are passionate about both the hemp and cannabis plants!
In 2020 when it finally became legal to grow cannabis, we immediately added that to our garden as well and 2nd 40 to 420 was born, or shall I say planted. We currently rent out our 2 RV's 3 Yurts & primitive sites , we also offer group bookings & Canna-friendly B&B options. We plan to add septic & electric hook-ups for RV's in the near future.

The cabin is located on an old apple orchard and budding homestead. It is off-grid and powered by solar. It is a short walk from the parking area (75 steps uphill). The cabin is one room with a kitchenette, hot outdoor shower, and outdoor compost toilet. The cabin can sleep up to three people with a queen bed, futon, and pullout couch. The kitchen includes a gas range, mini fridge, a sink with running water, and basic kitchen cook wear. A propane heater is available for extra warmth on a chilly night. A shelf equipped with books and board games. A propane grill sits on the front porch, and a fire pit out front. The hot outdoor shower and compost toilet are 25 steps from the front door tucked into the tree line. The pond sits in front of the cabin, a picnic table sets by the edge.
We love living simply, and immersed in nature, and have designed the space for others who also share this passion. We often see deer, turkey, bear, fox, and coyote. Maybe you will too! Our location is 15 minutes from the Appalachian Trail and James River access. The Jefferson Washington National Forest is nearby and offers opportunities for visiting waterfalls, hiking, mountain biking, climbing, and paddling. Downtown Lynchburg is 20 minutes away with great restaurants, farmers markets and shopping.
We are a growing homestead. We are planting fruits trees, cultivating shiitake mushrooms, raising ducks and tending gardens here and have farm fresh products that are seasonally available to guests just ask!

Whisper Creek was founded in 1999. It has been the gathering place for many great friends and camping adventures. WC can hardly be camping, more like Glamping!
This is a very private and quiet location. You can settle in knowing that this listing includes a covered picnic area. Which has counter space for food prep and cooking that includes a small sink.
But remember, it’s camping so you’ll need to come prepared with a camp stove for cooking, although I do have charcoal and propane grill’s at the picnic area.
Fire pit for awesome evening camp fires with free split firewood on hand. All I ask is that you burn it like you split and stacked it.
You can gather and relax under the covered picnic area for dinner preparation and/or lounging. We are located within an hour from Wintergreen, numerous wineries, craft beer locations and numerous hiking destinations.
Harmony Hut has fresh linens but please bring sleeping bags and/or sheets for the screened in bunkhouse.
River access to the James River is a short drive to Howardsville. There you will also find a General Store which offers you the basics, such as Beer, Wine, Ice and a few grocery items. They make the best homemade sandwiches and grilled burgers. Direct river access can be provided via special request. I can also provide shuttling services. But this needs to be mentioned well before your stay as I don't live up there year around.

Our 65 acre farm is secluded and peaceful. We have a small pond with catfish, bluegill, large mouth bass (catch and release only) and a gentle creek. We have chickens, sheep, a pig, cows and diary goats. Enjoy a walk down to the pond and take a picture by the old farm house (from the early 1800's) or explore history in the cemetery. Our 100 acres was originally a camp built by the Civilian Conservation Corp in the "30s and early '40s, then a boys' juvenile detention center and Big Brothers'/Big Sisters' camp, which closed in 2009. The tent sites and cabins are in the forest, away from the buildings out front, but you're free to walk around and check out the historic site. Most of the buildings out front are artist studios (currently for 16 artists). We like to share the camp with others and watch it come back to life.
All within a short driving distance are the Natural Bridge, wineries, breweries, Natural Bridge Zoo, Safari Park, Dinosaur Kingdom, Appalachian Trail, Blue Ridge Parkway, James River, historic Lexington, Devil's Marbleyard, Glenwood Horse Trail, swimming holes, etc. We have river access 2 miles up the road if you'd like to fish or put your kayak or canoe in. Truly, there is something nearby for everyone. We'd be happy to give you recommendations of things to see and do. If you are a star gazer you won't be disappointed by our dark sky.
We want to share our property with those who want to stay for more than one night, so we do not accept inquiries of single night stays. We also don't offer longterm rentals as we focus on short term camping.

The nearest towns are Charlottesville, Scottsville, and Palmyra.
Within 5 miles, enjoy amazing canoeing, hiking, fishing, and disc golf.
Hosts will greet campers and are generally around to address any issues or questions, but the site is totally private, so you’ll enjoy plenty of seclusion during your visit.
About the listing
The tiny house has three twin sized beds; one on the main level and the other two lofted above the main floor on opposite sides and accessed by a ladder. There is also ample space for setting up a tent outside of the tiny house and some campers have even managed to pull a small 8x10 trailer into the campsite.
Take advantage of access to a private fire pit during your stay. There is also a stove in the cabin to keep you warm.
The outhouse features a pit toilet.
Additional details to note
Early check-in or late checkout can be managed on a case by case note, depending on whether or not the campsite has other reservations.
Pets are allowed. The property is a working farm, so please respect the animals and those who are working and be sure to close the gate behind you if you opened it.
There is no kitchen in the tiny home, but some minimal and random cookware is provided, along with a small camping stove, if you would like to bring your own camping stoves.
Running water is not available in the cabin. The Host will provide five gallons of water for you and can always refill up at the farm, but feel free to bring additional water with you as well.
There is no WiFi, but there is good cell service for all carriers.

Sheila was so friendly and very responsive when communicating. Her dogs are phenomenal, they are so sweet and great with kids. While we didn't get to tour the farm much because we were so busy with other items Shelia offered and was willing to accommodate my schedule. Peeking at the animals they were all so cute.

Moon and Julie were wonderful hosts.
I had booked the weekend of the 4th of july and unfortunately the week before a heat wave was announced to roll in. My group decided to not cancel the trip and give it a shot, but 1 night outside with a heat index of 110 was too much, and we called the trip short.
The hosts were very understanding and even refunded the second day, which according to the terms of our booking they absolutely were not required to do. I knew the risk when I accepted the booking.
The campground itself is very beautiful and I plan on returning during better weather early this fall.
I highly recommend this place.
Also, as a bonus I learned that Moon is an avid reader so we had plenty to talk about, as I am a literature nerd myself.

Woodpecker 1 was absolutely beautiful! It was close to the creek and we even hunted down one of the swimming holes! It’s also a very easy walk to the bath house and the bathrooms were well kept and clean.

This was our second time staying at Thunder BRidge. Even though it was the hottest weekend imaginable, we still had a great time. The primitive “cabin” was perfect for our friends who don’t typically go camping. We visited a couple swimming holes near by to cool off. We will be back in the fall!

My granddaughter, pup and I really enjoyed our stay at Sarah's Cottage. It was very clean and cute. We had full access to the pool and back area of her property. There is a little reading room with some books as well as games that we had the pleasure of playing. There were plenty of floats to choose from and an area to sit out of the sun. My granddaughter and pup really enjoyed visiting with the goats and chickens on property. Sarah was a great host and checked in on us and responded quickly through messaging. I would definitely consider returning again but in cooler temps the next time. My little tribe and I really enjoyed our time on her little farm. ❤️

Enjoyed our stay. We were looking for somewhere close to Natural Bridge and Devils Marble Yard. Can’t really beat the exact middle. Facilities were clean as expected. Cabin was as described. Recommended to our friends already.

Very clean, tons of extras, it's hard to picture the layout with just photos but it was really great. The night lights are a lot of fun too! Just enough to get around but not give you night blindness. Our two dogs also had a great time seeing chickens and goats!

Woodpecker 1 was amazing for our daughter’s first time camping. The inside was clean of all bugs. Just a short walk to the pavilion and bathroom. The camp itself is very large and has many different things to explore. Adam was always around camp somewhere if we ever needed anything. The creek is a short walk through the woods. Easy parking for two vehicles.

Thunder bridge is the perfect hidden gem! The moment you enter the canopy of the forest your mood changes. The log cabins and the screened cabins are perfect for those who do not want to pop up a tent No electricity at the sites but be prepared with backup battery charger or head down to the lodge where there is electricity and WiFi! Bring plenty of drinking water I don’t think the water there is potable. We drank what we boiled and are fine! Adam the owner is great! He checks you in and leaves you alone!

1 night at Farm cottage in the country
Sarah was a wonderful host and had everything ready for us. Her attention to detail with the cabin made the stay fabulous. Cabin was stocked with snacks and goodies. Appliances such as Kuerig, toaster, microwave and fridge were useful for us. The bed slept well too. AC and heater as needed.
A highlight was seeing the baby goat, goat family and beautiful hens and roosters!
We also enjoyed a swim in the pool. Floats were nice to have.
My husband has myotonic dystrophy but everything was accessible as he brought necessary adaptive devices.
The compost toilet and gas shower were nice. Good to see appreciation for the environment.
The property is well kept. I really liked the wooded area with fire pit and the cozy reading room. Sarah has a nice touch for interior design as well.
We will be returning here for a longer stay and hope to bring friends. Looking forward to the hot tub

This was such a nice cabin! The jetted tub was top notch. The water was hot, the bed comfortable, and the internet was fast. The area is beautiful. Highly recommend!

Weekend Trip to Thunder BRidge
We had such a fun weekend camping at Thunderbridge. The campsite is beautiful in the spring time. It did rain all weekend but we stayed in the cabin which was a really cool experience. It’s very cozy with a dining table and a living room area with a fire place. The beds are comfortable and the front porch is an awesome place to chill out. We have access to the creek which the kids loved playing in. Their favorite part was riding their bicycles around the campsite . There is a bathhouse with hot showers and a place to clean gear and dishes. Adam is a great host and brought us firewood when we ran out. We will definitely be back ;)
