Weekend Trip to Grateful Acres Vermont

This stay with definitely a very memorable one! Stephanie was such an amazing and thoughtful person and made our stay very comfortable. We had some rough weather that we were not expecting and she was kind enough to extend us her help in any way she could; offering us extra firewood if we needed it and allowing us to stay in the cabins for better shelter. 10/10!!!!

The camp is located in a very beautiful area of New Hampshire, quiet, peaceful, with close local trails and ponds and marshes to explore. Kris, the host, and her boyfriend, David, are good people who are very helpful and full of knowledge about the people and natural history of the area. I would definitely recommend Blue Heron camp for a Hip Camp stay.

Sweet Song Acres was a beautiful winter wonderland. Being surrounded by snow covered trees and enjoying the solitude of the site was blissful! Tina and Chiefy were amazing hosts, thank you for plowing us out! We already booked our summer stay here and can't wait to return.

Christian was so friendly and helpful in showing us where to set up and even setting us up in a cozier spot since there was some super cold, windy weather! The farm is beautiful and waking up to walk around and say hi to the horses and ponies was so nice! We even explored the property for a bit before we left and it was beautiful! The stream was frozen and glorious and Christian kindly wished us safe travels and goodbye when we were on our way out! We hope to come back in the spring when we can do better exploring in the area! 10/10 would recommend Christian’s sweet farm!

1 night at Grateful Acres Vermont

We stayed in the Daydream cabin on an 3 day bike packing trip through southern Vermont and it was an absolutely perfect “glamping” experience. The cabin and site were clean and well equipped. The location was amazing and very quiet, and we were even able to see a comet! Our hosts were both very friendly and accommodating! Truly a gem in an otherwise remote area that is a major upgrade from the first-come first-serve sites (bike packers take note). Definitely will come back in the summer to enjoy the lake.

Tent camping on Christian's farm was great! Site was clean and secluded. It felt like I checked out of the great race for the weekend. Area is beautiful, with tons of trails to hike all day right from the farm. Just a stones throw from Mt. Greylock- don't forget your Alltrails, or Google maps!

We regularly maintain all paths and campsites to be free of poison ivy, but if you wander into unmaintained parts of the forest, you might contact poison ivy. Like any camping in the northeast, bring bug spray too! For travelers, this happens to be a VERY accessible location.

Fox Farm is located on 8 magical acres in eclectic Brattleboro, VT. Pitch your tent in a sacred private white pine forest or closer to the trail-head with access to a charcoal grill, a huge fire circle and a picnic table. If you prefer a roof over your head, check Fox Farm Cottage @ Fox Farm. Located ideally on a trail-head that leads to the West River Trail (a 36-mile scenic trail through the West River Valley – eventually linking Brattleboro, Dummerston, Newfane, Townshend, Jamaica and South Londonderry) and the West River, offering opportunities to hike, fish, swim, ski, snow shoe and bike. The Marina Bar and Restaurant is a 2 mile hike or bike ride from the camp site (via the West River Trail) and is a fun way to see the beauty of Vermont and partake in some excellent indoor/outdoor dining with views of the water. Currently there are two areas available to campers; The Pine Forest and the Council of the Elders. The Pine Forest is a shaded circular area that is very spiritual and quiet. There are currently 3 camp sites in the Pine Forest. The Council of the Elders is a more open (again circular) area that abuts The Pine Forest and has a large fire pit as it's centerpiece, surrounded by the Elder Pine trees. I have had up to 2 campers and an occasional van/camper at the Council of the Elders. I have most recently had requests to book the entire Pine Forest for guests who are traveling together and want privacy- and Ido my best to work with people to accommodate any needs. Please bring your own firewood if you intend to have a fire. I offered wood to guests in the past when I was able but found that tricky to manage as there are times I myself am out of wood. There is plenty of felled wood all around as the property is surrounded by a dense forest and guests are welcome to gather that to supplement fire making. In my experience as a host, I have noted that folks come together and build mini-communities, share food, fires and is generally a positive vibe. Some come for privacy and solitude, which has not been an issue thus far. All in all the energy is upbeat and folks make friends along the way- me too! Brattleboro is a funky, hipster town with many excellent restaurants and much to see and do. For winter enthusiasts Mount Snow is a 30 minute drive and folks can cross country ski and snowshoe right from their camp sites to the 36 mile trail. The Hipcamper can expect privacy yet easy accessibility to the homeowner for tips and ideas to support a positive experience. Campers may be greeted and visited my friendly Bernese Mountain Dog's, Loki Bear and Levi!

In the winter, we are within 1 hour in of 4 ski resorts (Mount Snow, Stratton, Berkshire East, and Magic Mountain), as well as countless trails for snowshoeing, cross country, or back country skiing. The town of Wilmington is a quick 20 minute drive, where there is a quaint downtown with several restaurants and shops, as well as the essentials like grocery stores and a pharmacy. Another 10 minutes and you can be in Dover, where there are even more restaurants, shops, and even a movie theater. There are tons of fun day trips to be planned in the surrounding areas, both in Vermont and western Massachusetts-- we are less than a mile from the MA border! Very quiet with great swimming and lots of hikes right from your sites. 2 of the Brookside Sites (Wishbone Left and Right) are close by (2.7 miles) where we have another 1/2 mile of river frontage and can handle bigger groups as Conservation land on Sunrise Farm only allows 4 campers per site. Sunrise Farm Sites 1 and 2 have oodles of space and Spectacular 50 mile views of Mount Monadnock with no house lights out there in the evening except the party string lights we provide. Site 1 (with entrance 70 yards south of the farmhouse) is best for camping in with up to 20 foot trailers or multiple tents …on the large flat spaces in the 25 acre field to choose from. Great Well water available near farmhouse. Biodegradable soaps Only if used in the ponds. Double Olympic sized Swim Pond we stock with Rainbow Trout to keep clear. We have been advised Not to allow imported firewood (can import Wood Beetle dangerous for our forest). - PLEASE use the Firewood bundle tubs we provide ($11) - pick up at the farmhouse or pull wood from the woods (and make it safer for use). Beautiful and plenty of wildlife nearby... as well as Port a Potties are marked on Map we provide with solar lights marking them at night. Do Not Leave food out when camping or away from site. Bears are rarely seen but it is wild country. Sites have locking garbage lids. Unique and lovely as well as being next to trails and roads to miles of remote spots with very few if any ... people. In Winter we request only AWD vehicles go down to this site or park up by farmhouse and hike in so you can easily get out. When wet park up by the road if you have 2 wheel drive. Sweet Song Acres

Sweet Song Acres is 100+ acres of secluded forest nestled along the Little Sugar River, at the base of Perry Mountain. Located in rural Unity, NH and Charlestown, NH, just across the Vermont state line. Southernmost point, located in Charlestown is one of two campsites. The other is Shady Grove, located in Unity. The two sites, located in bordering towns share the same entrance and are connected by a 1/4 mile trail. Both are very large sites. Campers would drive to both sites down a trail so we highly recommend a vehicle with decent clearance and 4WD or AWD. Southernmost Point is a fully drive-in site. Shady Grove campers park above the site and the campsite is down a short path, just a few hundred feet or so. The property consists of varied terrain of rock ledges, lush moss, streams, and panoramic views at the summit. There are many options of local outdoor activities in the area or if you prefer, just sit and "listen to the river sing sweet songs to rock your soul".

Easy access to beautiful Chapman Pond (100 yards away), which is stocked with Trout and also home to Bass, Crappie and Perch. Great place to fish or just relax! The use of two kayaks and firewood available at no extra charge. (IF using the kayaks, they are to be brought back to the campsite and NOT left at the pond. If they are left at the pond and stolen, campers will be responsible for the replacement cost, which is about $600.) Lots of wildlife (loons, turtles, geese, deer, bear etc). You're free to explore the land and trails that go part way around the pond to the "Big Rock" and beyond. Info at the campsite for other nearby hikes and activities. We allow public access to the "Grassy Area", however larger camper groups that book this site have full access and are welcome to setup tents there, but no fires are allowed on the grass.. only in designated fire pit. (FOR THOSE WITH A TOW BEHIND CAMPER, you will want to drive to the pond boat landing at the end of Chapman Pond Rd, turn around, head back towards the campsite and BACK IN.) FOR THOSE WITH DOGS, we love dogs, we have our own. For everyone's safety and well-being we ask that you please keep them with you and under your control at all times. We have a farm nearby and want no casualties because of a loose dog. Also, our 90 lb APBT is very friendly but not to every dog he meets. SMOKERS, we allow smoking at the site but please dispose of your butts properly and help keep our property beautiful. All around beautiful and peaceful campsite. City of Keene is 15 minutes away. Wequamps Haven Mountain View Site

Welcome to Wequamps Haven in South Deerfield, with one of the nicest views of Mount Sugarloaf and North Sugarloaf Mountain, which together form the body of Wequamps of the local native legend. We have one camper site available, located on the edge of our 40 acres of protected land. Your site is on the old farm road near open, farmed fields, behind a well settled neighborhood near downtown. It is out of site of the main road and most neighbors, but still close to all the amenities in town. Half the acreage is flat, tillable land currently farmed by local farmers. The rest is pasture and woodland located on the hillside, abutting state park land which is part of Mount Sugarloaf Reservation. The view of the mountains and open farmland is beautiful at any time of year and the hillside pasture is a great place to watch the sun set over the valley below. It is the perfect site if you want a quiet, peaceful place to relax without going too far from civilization. Since it is an in-town location, it is easy to get to, close to I-91 and Routes 5&10. We are centrally located between Northampton, Amherst and Greenfield, which are all a short ride away, along with all the restaurants and attractions they have available. There are plenty of places nearby to walk, hike, bike, fish, kayak and swim so you can take full advantage of all the region has to offer. You may see rabbits, groundhogs, deer, opossum and numerous birds on the property. We have a resident red-tailed hawk and often spot pileated woodpeckers. You may occasionally hear coyotes or owls in the distance. Feel free to stroll the old farm road or enjoy our large backyard and covered patio which are areas we are happy to share as common spaces with our guests. Explore the lush Pioneer Valley or the many hill towns in our cozy western Mass. mountain ranges for all the farm stands, antique shops, historic sites or outdoor activities you could possibly hope for within easy reach. There are too many wonderful sights to see to list here but let us know your areas of interest and we’ll be happy to help you find them. We will provide a small picnic table, trash can and recycling bin. A small fire pit will also be provided with plenty of firewood available for purchase and potable water can be accessed from the garden hose. Come and recharge mentally and physically in serene and calming surroundings or fill your plate with local foods, sights and activities.
