Community vibe 'round here; everyone is expected to be quiet and respectful of one another and clean up after themselves "leave no trace" style. Six night maximum stay. We are a 2 acre community on a secret and secluded little street 5 miles due South of the capitol of TX and even closer (2.5) to the very hip SoCo area (Continental Club, Jo's Coffee, Guero's Taco Bar, El Mercado and lots more). I have 3 cats, 11 chickens, 2 little donkeys and sweet 4 mini goats here at my little and funky 'farmette' right on Williamson Creek (sometimes flowing and not really swimmable) and next to a huge wooded greenbelt with a quiet and unused nature trail. This is not a KOA or a state park. This is a home hostel/campground. It's kind of rustic and we like it that way. You may see a roach, ant or cricket and you may also see a deer, fox or coyote. We are busy and not always able to visit for long. Lots of remodeling and flood related cleanup chaos here but also lots of pretty and secluded nature. Short walk to bus stop and historic Sagebrush HonkyTonk and Austin Bergstrom Airport is 9 easy highway miles away. Rustic outdoor shower/kitchen/privy. BYOTent. No wild or excessive partying here please and please remember: no smoking. WE NOW HAVE A COVERED PING-PONG PLAYING AREA ! Other details to note: Street parking. Camping is a very short walk from parking lot. We have carts to tote your gear if needed. Sorry, this campground is not set up to be able to park next to your site. Camp in the city! We're 2 miles from the middle of downtown Austin but have been pretending we're not for a long time. Do the city but retreat to a little oasis nestled under a giant Live Oak tree. A lot of care went into our little cabin complete with an outdoor shower under the Oak, everybody's favorite! The cabin features a queen bed and a full bed/couch, a kitchenette and more. An outdoor seating area and composting toilet outhouse rounds out the experience. Come stay with us!

Choose a spot at top of property for Hill Country views for miles or closer to the water for more privacy. We also have a 2022 class b outfitted with all the creature comforts if you don’t want to tent it. We have marked 6 sites with a light and fire pit. But feel free to camp anywhere you like within the property line outlined. Please note defined sites are first come first serve. If you choose to find your own site please be considerate of others space, create your own fire pit with rocks and gather only downed wood. Note if there is a fire ban at your time of stay only use camp stoves. All camp sites are primitive and the farther from the parking area you will need to plan on hiking in. What a peaceful, cozy, comfortable spot, with the kindest hosts. The cabin was perfectly appointed. I needed a place to rest and recharge and I got exactly that. The outdoor shower was the icing on the cake. Pretty much nothing better than being sheltered by a wise old oak tree as you wash off that road dirt. Highly recommend to anyone who wants to see the more peaceful and humane side of Austin!

I didn't end up making it to my scheduled weekend over Thanksgiving and while I enjoy supporting local businesses and would even donate (it was $100-120 for the four days), when I texted the host this, James, about using those 4 days another time and thanked him either way..he didn't have the decency to respond at least saying yay or nay it wasn't doable or it was...just ignored. Either way would have been understandable, but I just donated $100 or so to your local business...real neighborly.....Happy Thanksgiving to you too, Bud.

My son and I had a great time camping here! John and Nugget were wonderful hosts - very friendly, welcoming and helpful. John helped guide us to a spot that had enough vertical clearance for our RTT and helped us get our “camp kitchen” setup. It’s a beautiful property - we didn’t get to explore as much as we would have liked because it rained but we will definitely be back!

Weekend Trip to Owl Hollow at San Marcos

The location was central at 30+ minutes to wherever I wanted to go: Austin, Wimberley, San Antonio. I enjoyed the private, tree-covered camping spot. I saw bunnies, cats, deer, and all kinds of birds. If you’re a light sleeper or like to sleep in, be sure to bring ear plugs to hear less of the resident rooster. The hosts were caring, communicative, and accommodating, willing to share some of their covered patio when it rained. Thankful for the indoor bathroom facilities with hot water. My AT&T phone signal worked fine.

John’s place is in a great location—15 min to San Marcos and 35 min to Wimberley. He’s a quirky San Marcos local; super nice guy and very accommodating. The neighbors have farm animals and we enjoyed watching/listening to them. There’s only 1 spot that will fit an RV or bus, which is right on the fence line next to the neighbors. We enjoyed our stay.

My stay was fabulous. I was greeted when I arrived by Tanya and soon met her sweet bitsy Yorkie baby. I was fortunate to get there while the store was still open. Weekend Trip to Longhorn Getaway Campgrounds

Great property, located between Dripping Springs and Austin just off highway 290. A nice way to get an "out-in-the-country" camping experience while still being close to town. There is some road noise in the distance, but not enough to be a problem. There are two big longhorns and a donkey wandering around that are super friendly to people (just don't let your pets go say hi to them). There is also an 18 hole frisbee golf course running through the property that was a lot of fun to play. The campsites themselves were nice and flat, with a picnic table and firepit. I was pleasantly surprised by the lack of insects, but I think that probably had more to do with the time of year we came (early November). The hosts were responsive to communication and there were no hassles or complications with using the property. Just book it online, watch the nice youtube video they have about getting around the property, and message the hosts if you have any questions!

My buddy and I very much enjoyed staying at this campground. Us city folk did have to get help to move the longhorn and donkey away from the gate so we could get in initially, but Jana responded right away and her husband helped us out immediately. The animals kept us company over night, but they were friendly and cute. The composting toilet had everything you could need, and the ranch land was gorgeous. Overall, a great stay and would recommend this campground.
