Tipis on the Guadalupe

Awesome, family-friendly stay! All the creature comforts you need (plus even more than we are used to- a warm shower, towels and bedding provided, a well-stocked kitchen!) Campground is a short walk to the beautiful Guadalupe River! We had 7 kids across 3 tipis and everyone had a blast! The kids could roam safely around the campground games and grassy area while we cooked and relaxed. We can’t wait to go back!

Comfortable with some little issues

This was a nice space. Well laid out, nice area around the Tipi's (only complaint was the incredibly bright white blaring flood lights that were on the whole time really impacting the ambience and feeling of being "outside" wish we could've turned them off!). The Tipis were comfortable, with a little kitchenette and quite comfortable beds. Lots of space. Initially the host was responsive but once we were there we wanted to rent a kayak and buy more firewood. I called and messaged the host and got no reply on either. Haven't heard anything at all since the day we got there. Not great communication in the end sadly. Also the walk to the river was longer than expected but still doable.

Great place to stay with kids, we loved all the small details, my kids loved the experience of sleeping in a tipi, and I loved that it had air conditioning, light and being free of bugs. The place has everything for kids, picnic table, ping pong table, 🏐ball area, kayak, fire pit, we will certainly come back with friends and stay longer

Camping for a 30th birthday

It started off rocky as there was a miscommunication and our tipi number had been switched. They were able to explain and we got everything sorted out. The tipi itself was such larger than I expected which was very nice. It was very well insulated to where it was 103 outside and we actually got cold at night. We did bring a fan just in case and kept it running too. The walk to the river is not as close as it looks on the map. The walk down is simple, with no issues. The walk back is a pretty good incline that had some guests having issues. Our neighbors one night were very over the top, loud, drunk, and even had minors drinking. But it is what it is and we didn't complain on them. It was a nice and relaxing 2 days. The bathrooms were very nice and I loved that we had our own to use. I would recommend for the most part.

Tipis at the River!

This place is great!! Very cool setup that can check the box of those who don't enjoy traditional camping! The tipis are more close together than I thought and there's a small, longer than I expected, walk to the river from camp. This might be on me when reading the map, but was my experience and worth noting. They have a great setup of games and outdoor activities and I would definitely book here again!

It’s about a three minute walk to the river. There were three Queen beds in our unit. Very spacious and the A/C worked great. Very peaceful place. Will be going back.

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the Tipis, particularly Tipi 6. The space was expansive, impeccably clean, and diligently maintained. The beds were delightfully comfortable, and both the TV and A/C units functioned flawlessly. Additionally, the tipi was equipped with all the amenities one could possibly need. We appreciated the convenience of having our own private bathroom just outside the tipi. We had reserved 3 Tipis 4,5 &6 all were perfect for a family vacation.

What a cool place! With easy access to both the river and Gruene, you really can't go wrong booking this spot. The hosts were communicative, the surrounding land was beautiful, and we had a fantastic time.

La Pluma Retreat

Beautiful location! Room was clean and organized. There was no body soap, so bring your own, but other than that we have no complains. We really loved it and hope to come back soon!

Our family had a great time staying out at Tipis on the Guad. It was a nice blend for us to be able to be close to nature while also enjoying the comforts of the amenities that the Tipis were able to provide. The Tipis were a big hit for our 5yo and 2yo, and we especially enjoyed the simple access down to the river for us to all hangout. I especially appreciated the quick and prompt communications by the Calm Water team to help us with any questions or concerns that we had. Would recommend!

We had such a great time staying at Guadalupe Tipis. The room was big enough to stay comfortable, restrooms are very clean. The lake is walking distance although when we went water was low in that area. We all had a great time staying there.

Loved glamping at Tipis on the Guadalupe! Second visit and didn't disappoint! Comfy beds, quiet, clean, serene...perfect spot to recharge. The swing by the river at dusk was lovely! Staff super helpful with late checkout, supplying coffee filters and tracking down losts keys! Close to several fun excursions. Will be back for a family vacay this summer!

La Pluma Retreat

La Pluma is a cozy upstairs cabin with an amazing treehouse-style deck. Comfortable bed and nice kitchenette. It has a bathroom with a toilet, sink and shower. You might want to bring your own shower caddy as the shower does not have any shelves or ledges to put your stuff. There was a minor problem with the shower when we arrived in the late evening, but the owner responded promptly and it was fixed the next morning. There's good access to the river along a well-developed trail. It takes barely 5 minutes to walk there. The water was low but still floatable. We enjoyed chilling in our tubes on the water. We also liked the upper deck that looked out over the river. Most neighbors in the tipis were nice and friendly. One family was playing rap music outside most of the night when we got there, but we drowned it out with our own music. Once we went inside the cabin, we mostly couldn't hear the outside noise anymore. It was fun to watch a litter of black kittens playing outside. Their mama visited with us on our deck. Overall, this was a comfortable and fun stay. The noise factor will depend a lot on who the other guests are. The property is fairly compact, and the tipis and cabin are pretty close together. While it is technically "glamping," it's still a campground after all! If you're looking for a quiet getaway, this is probably not the place. But if you love tubing and sharing space with other campers, it's perfect!

This place is seriously awesome. We met so many cool people, the tipis are: spacious, clean, and super kid-friendly. The tv and wi-fi were such a plus. The bathrooms are a highlight. Air conditioned, HUGE shower and I appreciated the way the locks worked so you didn’t have to worry about a key card or anything. The entire property is kept up so well and the views are incredible. Just a short walk to the river and it’s much more private than staying someplace that’s got a million people roaming around. The kids loved staying in a tipi. They have tons for the kids to do, between ping-pong, cornhole, tetherball, etc. All around super relaxing and fun place to vacation. We stayed 6 nights and loved all of it! Thank you for all y’all do!
