. These are unique camping spots along the Guadalupe River. I didn’t exactly understand how unique until I started getting feedback from my campers. The surrounding scenery will lower your blood pressure and do wonders to let you reconnect with nature. Sit back and close your eyes late in the evening and listen to all the wildlife talking to each other. There is faint traffic noise from 90A about a 1/3 of a mile away but it calms down after 7 or so. Currently no amenities but I am in the plans for some portable bathrooms. Please be prepared to cover all your bathroom and cooking needs. I do have some good clean well water from a faucet on the way into the campgrounds. Campfires are permitted. There is a convenience store (Diamond A) with clean bathrooms and a great bbq just 5 miles to the west on 90A and a Walmart and HEB 10 miles to the east on 90A. (Both Diamond A and Walmart sell fishing licenses if you need one. Dogs are allowed at sites 3 and 4 but not at 1 or 2 where my livestock guardian dogs have access to. No matter the size or temperament of your pets you are always expected to have them under your control at ALL times. I have very small livestock in the area frequently I am almost always on the property and try to have my phone with me while campers are on site, just let me know what you need and I will do what I can to accommodate you. Pedernales Falls State Park is only 35 miles away. Swimming at holes, horseback riding, hiking, mountain biking, and birding are a few of the quintessential outdoor Texan activities visitors enjoy most at Pedernales State Park, located near the area of Texas Hill Country where former President Lyndon B. Johnson grew up. Next to the famed Pedernales River, the park is an hour west of Austin, an hour east of Fredericksburg, and about 20 minutes from downtown Johnson City. I loved this place. Everything is as advertised. It's right on the river, and it was easy to drag my kayak in and out of the water. I didn't see another soul after meeting Billy and settling in, which is just how I like it. At night I could see tons of stars. I saw fish in the river, including one huge white one that kept slowly swimming back and forth near the bank, mocking me because I'm currently not a great fisherman. I recommend this place, and I'll definitely be back.

We visited as a couple with our 10-year-old son, and this experience meant even more because of him. Teresa, the host, created lifelong memories for our son by teaching him real farm-life responsibilities from harvesting fresh eggs to learning about honey bees. The hands-on experience and patience she showed made a lasting impression on all of us. The property strikes the perfect balance between preserving nature, sustainability and providing comfort. There are plenty of cozy spots to relax and connect. And don’t miss the breakfast ! available upon request, is made entirely with 100% organic products from the farm. Absolutely delicious and prepared with so much care. The best homemade flan I've ever tasted. We will definitely be back during blackberry season! And no need to set a morning alarm "Big Papi" the rooster will proudly make sure you’re up and ready to start the day. More than anything, it felt like staying at a family home, warm, genuine, and welcoming. Five stars without hesitation.

Eden East feels secluded and remote despite being walking distance from town - the perfect mix. Sonya and David were super friendly and helpful. Our toddler loved looking at the chickens and had space to run around. A very easy drive to Bastrop State Park for hiking. The farm fresh eggs were delicious and a real treat, and there’s a whole farm stand on weds and saturdays. Would definitely stay here again.

This campsite was absolutely beautiful. The night sky was full of stars, and the site itself felt very private and spacious. Everything was ready for us when we arrived; the compost toilet was clean and freshly prepared, and the land looked recently maintained. You can tell the host really cares about the space. I would definitely stay here again.

Weekend Trip to Wimberley Valley Camping

Stayed at site 2 (Stargazer) -- plenty of room for my 4Runner, easy in and out. I was by myself, but there's ample room for several tents, easily, if you're in a group. As the name suggests, the view of the stars in this spot is awesome. Wimberley is a verified Dark Sky Community, meaning there is little light pollution, so you'll notice a mammoth difference in what you can see compared to a city environment. Directions were easy to follow (just make sure you go in the correct gate; there are two at the spot where GPS leads you. It's the one on your left). The site was completely free of any trash or other debris; if it wasn't for the fire ring you wouldn't necessarily think it was a campsite that a lot of people use day in and day out (which is a good thing). Kudos to the owners for designing it and maintaining it so well. Speaking of which, I got the chance to meet Bud when he happened to drive by on the way to his house elsewhere on the property. Great guy, talked at length with me about the land and gave some advice and ideas for exploring. Very nice of him. Site 1 is fairly close by, but not so close that you can see it from where you are. You would definitely hear your neighbors if they're noisy/rowdy but the guys that pulled into Site 1 on my second night were not like that at all. I can't recommend this place enough, and I'll definitely be back. P.S. Look for the bear -- he's pretty tame and will even let you take a selfie with him. ;)

This place was super cute and the hosts Hollis & Beaux were so accommodating and delightful! Unfortunately the weather took a turn for the worse and we had a 15mo old with us, and they kept us updated through the night of the upcoming weather issues of a freeze incoming and refunded us since it would be too cold to stay in a tent overnight. We will definitely be back again in warmer weather!

The weather turned cold before our trip but we decided to keep our plans on Billy’s land. And we are glad we did! There’s a dense patch of bamboo growing near the campsite which acted as a shield. We could hear the cold front blowing in, but never felt the wind! Although you can see another campsite, it’s pretty far in the distance and I barely even heard the other campers. Also recommend you purchase Billy’s bucket of firewood, it’s a phenomenal value, and helped keep us warm. We found our new winter camping spot! My very picky and particular dog LOVED it!

Weekend Trip to River Grove Campground

River Grove is one of my favorite spots around Austin. I've camped there several times and it never disappoints. We tried out campsite 3 vs River Bottom, and I'm infinitely glad I chose that one for our particular weekend. Temps got below freezing with huge gusts of wind, but because of a sizable bamboo forest on the grounds, the wind barely touched us, making for a much more comfortable weekend. We enjoyed campfires (Billy's $15 firewood is a BIG bundle y'all-- worth it), carved walking sticks, played Kubb (look it up!), braided bracelets. The pup had the time of her life as well. Beautiful spot, and Billy was a great host!
