THE DEN**
A communal indoor space with Wifi, tables and couches. Think of a hotel lobby sort of vibe. You can also find games as well as books on plant ID and history of the area. (Found in the first bay of the garage)
THE DUGOUT**
A covered open air space appointed with twinkle lights and picnic tables. Intended for shaded outdoor hang space. We ask that tent campers cook there if they choose to use their own camp stoves. (Found in the open bay of the garage)
The Charmadillo is a great base to explore the area! About an hour from both Garner State Park and Lost Maples. About 35 minutes to Hill Country State Natural Area. Various access points to the Guadalupe river via Center Point and Kerrville. With the addition of wineries, honkytonks, and charming bars and restaurants throughout the region.

(We are sold out for Eclipse 2024) Waltonia on the River is celebrating 100 years of family memories on the Guadalupe River. We have 16 cabins, a central recreational area and 600' of private riverfront. No crossing the highway to access the river! Great stretch of river for fishing, swimming, kayaking and relaxing. My great grandfather built the original "Camp Waltonia" as a primitive fishing camp with only camp sites, a dining hall and bath house. He wanted to share his love of the outdoors. Over the years, cabins were added, and the dining hall became the main house/office.
Some cabins are original 1920s and 1930s, others were built in the 1990s. We have one brand new cabin that was completed June 2023. Most cabins have HVAC, BBQ grill, picnic table and screened-in front porch with porch swing and dining table. Concrete patio with BBQ pit and picnic table. Free parking, free WiFi.
Enjoy direct access to the river, with kayaks available to registered guests. Central recreational area with playground, washers pit, ping pong, corn hole.

We have the amenities of an uptown hotel not too far from downtown. You'll love the peace and quiet of being unplugged, along with no cable or satellite TV, the fluffy towels and you'll be talking about the amazing breakfast for weeks. Five cabins have a great view up to 40 miles off the back porch to the southeast for a magnificent sunrise! The Siesta and Milky Way Cabins have roof-top decks for viewing sunrises, and sunsets and are perfect for stargazing! All cabins are secluded and private. The cabins are spaced about 150 feet apart. We have horseshoes and washer pits, and a large fire pit that can be used when the wind is not blowing and there is no burn ban in place.We are close to Texas state parks for hiking, there is mountain biking close by at Flat Rock Bike trails in Comfort.About Walnut Canyon Cabins-Fredericksburg, Texas-Welcome! Most of all Carl enjoys meeting our guests coupled with the time he gets to spend with Rhonda! From our first tour of this unique property, Walnut Canyon Cabins, we continue to be amazed at how lucky we were to find this stunning place and with everyone who walks through our doors!We have 2 great boys, 2 incredible daughters-in-law, and two wonderful grandchildren. We are truly blessed to have a place like this for them to come and unplug from their daily lives!
