Site 12 - Dos Rios Camping

We really struggled to find the campsite within the grounds, the office was unoccupied so we were on our own…. It took quite some time to find our reserved spot. The campground itself, however, is quite noisy even with lower occupancy. The road carries a LOT of sound, just be warned. Additionally, there were new neighbors/guests setting up tents/camp at 2am , so lots of headlights and loud talking. The quiet hours weren’t observed at all, but we powered through. We only found two bathrooms, and both did not have paper products, so bring your own TP! Luckily I packed a roll and other guests were asking to borrow ours. :) Also note they are a trek from the ridge - not close at all. We are thankful to have found a spot to watch the meteor shower at on short notice, but we were antsy to leave.

Extremely Disappointing Tent Site 1

Tent Site 1 - Riverfront Camping

Tent Site 1 did not match the photos or expectations set by the property. It appears that “Jupe Site 1” replaced the original Tent Site 1, while the tent site was pushed roughly 30 yards farther down into a much smaller area. There was no clear sign marking Tent Site 1, which made finding it confusing. We also had to park and carry all of our camping gear about 30 yards through the Jupe site to reach it. The campsite itself was extremely overgrown and littered with washed-out tree debris. The grill and fire pit were in disrepair, and there wasn’t a single reasonably level area to pitch a tent. For a tent campsite, that is a pretty fundamental failure. What made it worse was that the rest of the property appeared very well maintained. The photos gave the impression that the campsite we reserved would be cared for similarly, but that was absolutely not our experience. The difference between the advertised campsite and what we actually found was extremely disappointing. We stayed specifically to watch a meteor shower, and thankfully the night sky was incredible. The darkness and lack of light pollution made for a stunning view of the stars and meteors. Beautiful sky, but a campsite that felt neglected, misleadingly advertised, and not worth the experience we were expecting.

Beautiful night sky from a hammock. Cleanest river in Texas. From tent to cabin, they've got it covered. Clean and air-conditioned bathhouse. Rock hunting, island exploring, river floating. Every site has a fire ring and a grill.addded bonus, no mosquitoes!

Jupe - Site 2 - Riverfront Camping

I loved being able to explore the land along the river. Interesting rock formations and plants. I didn't know it, but the area is one of the best in Texas for rock hunting! The camp is peaceful. I enjoyed lying in one of the many hammocks, stargazing and listening to the cicadas and tree frogs. No cell service was a blessing but there's civilization 10 minutes away if you need anything. The Jupe was comfortable. Next time, I want to bring some family and rent a cabin. Tent site one looks perfect for hammock camping. The bathhouse was clean and air conditioned, which was a welcome surprise. I would have liked to have gone on a tubing adventure, but couldn't get in contact with the owners. That's my only caveat and it's minor since there were so many things to do.

Overall, we had a great stay! Everything was clean and well-maintained. My babies absolutely loved the bunk beds—they were definitely a highlight of the trip. The waterfront property was beautiful, and it was just a short walk to the river, which we really enjoyed. The location was also perfect—close to a little town that has everything you might need if you forget anything, and less than an hour’s drive to Enchanted Rock and Fredericksburg, making it a great home base for exploring the area. The host was very responsive and easy to communicate with. We would definitely stay here again!

Very enjoyable time. Went on a Sunday hoping it would be less busy than over the weekend and it was so peaceful. Weather showed expected rain. I was easily upgraded into one of their jupe tents. Very pretty campsite right on the river. Very helpful staff and owners were easily reached by phone and on the app. Definitely will be returning.

It was a decent experience. We reached shortly before sunset and found no one in the office. The site we selected was 12 but had trouble finding out where our site was. The loop we were in only had lettered sites which made finding our site harder. The facilities at the site were good though.

I loved the tent site I stayed at (3). There was good natural shade from the trees, yet still a very nice clear opening on the site to watch the stars when night falls. It wasn’t as private as I usually strive for (I’m very picky, so no real complaints), but the convenience of the site (near the bathroom and river) plus the cute string lights, table, and choice of 2 fire pits or a camping grill were worth it!! There was a perfect spot to hang up our tree hammock as well. We also had plenty of space to ourselves & good distance from the RV sites across the street. As a fellow birdwatcher I enjoyed the abundance of birds/nature surrounding us. A greater roadrunner frequented our site and the grass field right next to it! Overall the energy was so nice here, neighbors were nice, and I would love to come back again!

Dos Rios Airstream - 39

Loved it! Beautiful views of the river and the coldest AC!!! Just remember its GLAMPING!! The Airstream didnt have marble counter tops ect. I saw some reviews that said spot 39 was old and outdated. Its a vintage Airstream! Yes it is vintage! But worth every penny! Loved our spot! Nobody bothered us but was there when we needed them! Clean and essentials were provided. There wasnt a cooking spoon or spatula but I bought one and left it there so it would help future guests!! We will definitely be returning!

Dos Rios Cabin - 6

I've never used Hipcamp before. I was worried that the site itself would be underwhelming, but if anything, the listing under sold it. This is an adorable property that is thoughtfully put together so that guests have a good experience. I stayed in cabin six, which was basically a little hotel. I brought a lot of things with me (dishes, towels, etc.) that I didn't actually end up needing because this place was fully stocked. The owner came by and checked on us, told us that if we needed anything to text and they would come running. The AC kept everything nice and cool inside. There are many places around the cabin to sit and relax, as well as several places outdoors. There's no cell signal, but I think the wifi at this property is better than my home wifi in the city. The river is just a short walk from the cabin. The town square is less than a 15 minute drive and there's a few wineries. I definitely plan on coming back!

My daughter and I camped out in our tent. We really enjoyed our stay here. I enjoyed that I didn’t have cell service. Also there is no electricity, which I was totally ok with. It was exactly what I wanted and needed! There is a little bit of a walk to the river but we enjoy exploring new areas, so it worked out for us. Lady at the entrance was friendly and helpful. Recommend the tent areas if you are looking for a real camping experience. Just make sure they aren’t booked full. Had they been, I don’t think I would have liked being so close to other campers but luckily for us we had our privacy and there wasn’t anyone close by.

We loved how quiet it was. Tammy was very helpful and kind. In fact the whole staff was kind and very understanding. I absolutely would love to back. My dogs enjoyed in the swimming near the river and my husband got to enjoy fishing. Next time we might bring our whole family.

We had a wonderful time and enjoyed the river. We actually did car camping in one of the RV sites. I would love to explore more of the primitive camping. It was beautiful in the trees. The owners came by often to check, especially after a thunderstorm. We definitely stay again.

Nice access to river. Stars were awesome! Friendly people that work there. Cool dirt roads to explore. A couple of river crossings. Saw a jack rabbit that was huge! Guess I never saw one. lol. Will go back!

Very clean and nice place! They even have WiFi but in some areas it doesn’t work that great so if you want to watch a movie or show download it before you head out!
