Our 100 acre heritage property has been in the family for over 150 years. Since 2017, we've been operating our land as a Vegan, Regenerative-Agriculture Farm & Animal Sanctuary. We currently have 2 dogs, 3 cats plus a herd of 31 Cows, 4 Potbelly Pigs and 2 Spanish Goats. The cows and pigs are all rescue animals so, where as they are adapted to humans being around them, they are very shy and petting them is not allowed. There are plenty of nooks and crannies to explore and gorgeous views of the Texas horizons....time your stay just right and you can stand directly between the sunset and the moonrise! We also have a hike-and-bike, nature trail that offers a 360 loop around the property.
We have a new construction Bath House on site for restroom needs w/ hot showers and composting potties plus a cold-water sink w/ non-potable water suited for washing produce, hands, dishes or camping gear.

Welcome to Magickal Dickburg! This gorgeous 5-acre secluded piece of paradise is located between Bastrop and Paige, Texas. Dickburg is perfect for anyone wanting to escape the hustle and bustle of the city and be fully embraced by nature. You will find yourself surrounded by dozens of beautiful Loblolly Pines, Junipers, and a variety of Oak trees. On a clear night, you’ll be able to look up and see all the stars over Texas!
Currently, we are only offering semi-primitive camping spots - we have electricity, Wi-Fi, and a porta-potty for our guests to use, but no running water or showers. There is an 8ft. diameter communal firepit with firewood that can be used as long as there isn't a burn ban in effect. There are designated parking spaces on the property and from there, it’s just a short walk to the camping areas. You will need to bring any and all gear needed for camping, as we are only offering camping spaces. No glass bottles or containers of any kind and no generators.
While there isn’t much to do inside Dickburg, other than exploring the land, stargazing around the firepit, and generally just vibing with Mother Nature, there are plenty of things to do nearby. We are only 15 minutes from Sherwood Forest Faire (only open during the weekends of March and April & a few other days during the year), 18 minutes from Bastrop State Park if you want to fish, swim, or hike, 25 minutes from Downtown Bastrop, and 30 minutes from the Dinosaur Park, the Capital of Texas Zoo, McKinney Roughs and Zip Lost Pines!
Pets are welcome as long as they are kept on a leash. Please be sure to clean up any messes your pet makes.
Dickburg embraces a ‘Leave No Trace’ camping style, meaning, whatever items you bring with you, please take with you when you leave, including trash, items to be recycled, and pet waste.
Please keep in mind that, while it may feel like you’re hundreds of miles from civilization, we do have neighbors on both sides of us and behind us. Three out of four sides of Dickburg have a regular fence while the fourth (north side) has a natural barrier of piled brush. Please do not cross into our neighbor’s property or allow your kiddos/animals to wander unsupervised. Quiet hours are from 10 pm to 8 am.
Other Things to Note:
We have done countless hours of work to get Dickburg ready for you to enjoy. With that being said, it’s still raw land out in the country. There will be critters - snakes, lizards, bugs, etc. This was their land first and we’re just grateful we get to share it with them. Please use common sense when exploring the land and do not handle any wildlife. There is absolutely NO hunting or killing of any wildlife while at Dickburg. The ONLY exception to this rule is mosquitoes. You'll definitely want to bring bug spray, bug zappers, citronella candles, etc.... and kill as many of those blood-sucking jerks as possible!
Do not be surprised if you hear gunshots during your stay. There is a shooting range just down the street. We mention this, not to scare you, but to make you aware so that you’re not scared when you do hear them. #countrylife
String lights have been installed around Site #2. This is not only to light your way after the sun sets but also to set a boundary of where not to venture after dark. Please stay within the lighted area. The lights can be plugged in and unplugged at the electrical pole, near the RV (yellow extension cord).
Dickburg is a very new camping area and is still a work in progress. After clearing the land, the land was left with exposed roots and tree stumps. For the safety of our guests, please be sure to have a light source with you when walking around at night. We are working to get roots and stumps removed, but it will take some time.
We may or may not be onsite during your stay as we are continually working to improve the space for our guests. Feel free to come and say hi if you see us out and about. Or don’t! It’s completely up to you if you feel like being social or not! Also, if you have any suggestions on how to improve the area or other amenities you’d like to see, please let us know. We welcome your feedback!

Tent camping was great. The owners are very kind and allow you to get the most out of your trip. Having a functioning bathroom despite being a primitive campsite is nice, and you're not too far away from the town if you need anything. Even was able to order another air mattress after suffering from a leak. Can't wait to come back.

Beautiful property. We were the only campers there since we were the only ones crazy enough to go camping in 90 degree weather. The lake with the canoes was a little small but still fun to row around in. The bathrooms at the entrance were nice. It was fairly clean in there but there was a spider. Also the lights in there did not work.

This was a great spot! It was decently private, and having a covered pavilion was a nice something and helped protect us from the bit of rain that we had while camping. The gem of the spot is the proximity of the river, which we spent 90% of our time at over the two days that we were there. We didn’t see a soul down by the river and so it felt like it was ours alone.

We had an amazing stay at this campground! The river was beautiful and peaceful, and horseback riding made the experience even more memorable. One of the highlights was seeing the incredible 700-year-old pecan tree—it was absolutely breathtaking and added so much character to the property. The campsite was relaxing, scenic, and a perfect place to unwind and enjoy nature. We made wonderful memories here and would gladly come back again. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a true Texas outdoor experience!

We had a great time under the mother tree! The campsite at the bottom of the hill is beautiful and the farm animals were very sweet. The river had flooded the campsite recently so our first night we had to set up camp up the hill and it was very hot but our hosts were very kind and accommodating. And once we moved our tent and everything to the actual site near the river, it was very nice and such a beautiful spot. Would recommend to others, just probably not during the heat of summer or after weeks of heavy rain.

My family and I really had a nice relaxing weekend at camp Joy! We had a cancellation the morning of us going camping and Joy was so welcoming to let us reserve and show up with almost no notice. The property was well manicured. The bath house was really nice and updated. JOY was quick to respond when I’d send a message. We caught bass, baby perch, saw some gar and lots of turtles

An absolute hidden gem. Everything needed for a getaway camping trip is here. Pick from a beautiful open pasture camp or head down near the river under the biggest pecan tree I’ve ever seen. There are facilities and a nice large pavilion if you want to take advantage of that too. Gotta give this one a go!
