Out little slice of heaven has a beautiful spring fed creek and two large fields to play in. The creek can be waist deep in areas but mostly is good for sitting in and just relaxing. Extremely quiet on a dead end road. We have 5 bars of AT&T 5g cell service, Verizon can be hit or miss. All other cell services do not work. We love the creek and our secluded valley. Only a few farmers live down the road. This makes for a very private experience that can be naturalist / clothing optional friendly. The creek is secluded with plenty of trees to enjoy however you wish.
Spaces are extremely level and there are good Satellite tv abilities. We have firewood on site and two stone fire pits. Nearby is a wonderful old grist mill, Tim's Ford state park, Tim's Ford lake, Jack Daniels Distillery and other attractions. We are also about 45 minutes from Huntsville, AL with the NASA Space and Science Center. Space #1 is closest to the road. Space #2 has a larger patio. This retreat is the Perfect way to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life, yet not too far away from essentials. Hiking adventures nearby include University of the South Domain, Buggy Top, Walls Of Jerico and many more.

The best part about this site are the views! Relax on the side of the Cumberland Plateau while overlooking Burroughs Cove and the Elk River. You can see the camp sites from the main road, so there will be some road noise.
Sites 1/2 are hard/large graveled, tent camping will be very challenging, heavy duty tent stakes are highly recommended with mats/padding.
There is an electrical box at each end of the hard graveled parking areas (Sites 1 and 2) with 20- and 30-amp plugs, plus 110v. If the power is not working, please check the panel and turn on/reset the breakers, many of our guests turn them off when departing. If you are at Site #2 and the steps above do not work, please check/do the same at the Site #1 panel (it is the master power source).
Water is NOT available on site. NOTE: Depending on the time of year (warmer months only) a water container with a limited amount of NON-POTABLE water is on site for your use. Please plan on filling your water reservoir(s) PRIOR to arriving. There is an outhouse for all guests, picnic tables and fire rings for Sites 1 and 2. The camping area is fairly close to SR-50 so please expect to hear some road noise, more so in the winter months.
The entrance/driveway is on a small incline, if you are traveling in a light vehicle and a heavy camper, it's best to maintain a slow and steady speed to the camp site (for almost everyone, this is not an issue). If you are towing a camper, we recommend the total length of the vehicle and the trailer not exceeding 30ft, There is not a significant place to "turn around" at the sites and novice drivers (not used to backing out of tight spots with longer rigs) may find this very challenging.
There is a double gate that is usually closed, and latched so it stays closed, it is not "locked". The site is self-serve (not manned), Site #1 is to the left, Site #2 is to the right, and Site #3 is down the path past the outhouse at the bottom of the path. It is recommended that campers set up early for Site 3 (still daylight) to get an idea of the layout. Parking for Site #3 is by the shed at the main entrance and power is not available at the site.

We raise Scottish Highland cattle, goats, sheep, and alpacas on 90 acres of reclaimed coal mine land. We are using the animals and permaculture techniques to repair this land to a vibrant, productive place. We came to this magical place to found a self-reliant, homesteading eco-community when I retired from corporate life in 2006. It's called the Village on Sewanee Creek, named for the creek 800 feet below the bluff where we are located.
I traveled the world as a senior executive for Baskin-Robbins, Dunkin' Donuts, Papa Johns, Blockbuster, 7-Eleven and other retail franchises, making the world safe for Pizza, Ice Cream, Pancakes Video Rentals and American convenience. And I was ready for something more fufilling. I scouted for a place of exquisite natural beauty and I found it here. I bought way too much land just before the real estate bust and learned how to turn a nice fortune into a very small one.
I faced challenges and had lots of fun. Now I want to share our experience.

Faye's place is located on Rock Creek Road, ten minutes from the amenities of Tullahoma, Tn. The area is agricultural, but maintains a majority of natural beauty. Our property is 90 acres, consisting of fields, hardwood forests, and Rock Creek. The campsite is next to small waterfalls that flow past soft grassy banks, under the shade of oak trees. The creek is wide and shallow and the waterfalls create a tranquil ambiance. We have chickens (no roosters), cats (only 3), and an abundance of natural wildlife. Great riverfront campsites as well as more secluded wooded sites just a short walk away from the riverfront. Howlin' Hill has the best riverfront beach access on this stretch of the gorgeous Duck River. Most of our campsites are shaded by a continuous tree canopy and each site is equipped with a fire pit. We have firewood for sale. Early summertime offers an amazing light show performed by thousands of lightning bugs. Portables and spring fed showers are provided within walking distance from your site.
Located just 8 miles from Chapel Hill and Henry Horton State Park, our campgrounds can be reached in under an hour from many of Middle Tennessee’s more urban areas.
We do allow early check in as long as the campsite is clear out from previous campers.

We had a fantastic time at the location. Amy was very responsive to all of my messages and helped us get settled in even after the sun went down. Cannot recommend the tour of the farm animals highly enough. Highlight of the weekend. The animals did not bother us at all and we got to Camp next to the alpacas. They have very friendly puppies as well. There were a couple of people up at 3:00 a.m. working on a car or motorcycle several houses away but they were being wholly disrespectful to everyone in the neighborhood. I can't imagine that is a constant problem they have but it did make for a long night of motorcycle noises. Nonetheless our morning tour was great and we were very happy. Would come back , but may bring earplugs in case the neighbors decide to act up 🤣

I was surprised how busy the road was (and its very close) but the site itself was exactly what I needed. The tent sites down the hill are more secluded.
Be sure to bring water, we had lots but I would have washed our dishes with the water supply though it was empty.
Overall really amazing spot and very close to Savage Gulf for some amazing hikes!

I loved this place!! It had an amazing view of the creek with tiny waterfalls and so much to explore up and down the creek! I felt very safe! Very dog friendly where my dogs could roam to their hearts content and didn’t have to worry about them! It’s very peaceful and private. I got to wake up to nature and then got to go hike to spots near by but got to come back to a beautiful place for sleep along with the nature! Had a great fire pit set up. Host was very good at responding and answered all my questions! I would highly recommend this place and it’s not very far from some amazing hikes and waterfalls!

campsite #3 was very private, couldn't hear the other campsites at all. It stormed the night we stayed and the ground didn't get too muddy or pool up anywhere. The walk down the hill to the campsite is pretty steep, but manageable. Had no problems parking but took some coordination with other campers.

Was a gorgeous day when we arrived, it was packed for Labor Day and there was a scheduling conflict on our site. Mickey assured us he had a spot for us even though it was overbooked. He showed us to a beautiful grassy spot by the river and made sure we were all setup. We were at the river when thunder struck and we raced back to camp. There was a thunderstorm that rolled through and blew away some tents and people’s shelters that weren’t tied down. After it had settled, Mickey and his team came out and made sure everyone was okay and asked if they needed help with anything. The staff were amazing at answering all questions and when things got rough making sure the guests were taking care of. Our tent took some damage and water but even the campers on site offered shop vacuums and tarps to help us out. While the weather wasn’t great, the staff and community at this spot were amazing. Really goes to show how well the staff treat their campers and the camper treat their community. Overall a great spot, beautiful river and even more beautiful community. We will be coming again, maybe when the weather is less unpredictable!
