Weekend Trip to Waterloo Falls

Loved camping on Alice’s property. It was such a beautiful site, our boys enjoyed exploring the river and swimming next to the waterfalls. We stayed over 4th of July weekend, so it was busy with the day visitors, but they do a great job giving the campsite privacy. The campsite is private, it’s easy to find, and Alice was a great host.

1 night at Wooded Nashville Nook

Elisabeth was super communicative and helpful ahead of time, and the spot was ideal! East to get into Nashville, but just out of the way enough to be quiet and slower moving. Flat, accessible, great little outside fire spot, and easy in and out. Thank you for a great stay!

2 nights at Waterloo Falls

We absolutely loved our stay at Waterloo! The falls are gorgeous, the campsite was clean and tidy (and right next to the water!), and use of the flush restroom and shower was great. Great vibe, and Alice was so kind! Only hiccup was they were doing yardwork (mowing) from about 8:30am-10am on our first morning there, sometimes really close to our camp site. Totally understand that they need to maintain the landscaping, but it was a bummer to be sipping coffee by the quiet stream and then be interrupted by the loud mower. That was the only thing that kept the experience from being perfect!

2 nights at Belle and Beau Acres

We really enjoyed our stay at belle and beau we stayed two nights unfortunately it rained on our second day there but did not deter us from enjoying our stay right on a brook as we stayed at camp site 2 a little bit of hike up hill on your way out but I am 56 and a little chunky just took a rest as needed. Only animals we saw were frogs and one snake not sure if it was a cotton moth or just water snake either way we was in the water and it avoided us so it’s all good. To make a long story short Christine has a wonderful place and I will definitely be back

Weekend Trip to Waterloo Falls

Alice is a fantastic host! The zen and breathtaking views made us add an additional night to continue enjoying it! We traveled with our two dogs and they couldn’t get enough of the waters and waterfall. We spent more time at the upper falls as it was easier swimming conditions for the pups. Alice was extremely helpful our entire stay and even gave us some insight for some additional views and hikes! The tent is stocked with everything you need. In fact, we brought too many things that were already provided. We can’t wait to come back! Has been one of my most enjoyable Hicamp stays so far!

Weekend Trip to The Slab (by the Barren)

Booked a site for 1 night for our campervan. It rained the whole ride there so we were unsure what would transpire when we arrived. Carrie was super kind and down to earth, helped accommodate us in a better spot as to avoid the mud and still be able to enjoy the amenities. Nice swimming hole. So many fireflies it looked magical at night. Would recommend!

Weekend Trip to Sacred Dog Ranch

We stayed at the ranch two nights while visiting family in Fairview. The property is not far from Hwy 40. You enter on a tree-lined driveway and our 20 foot travel trailer was fine. Easy hook up to 30amp, water may need additional hose. The owners are very welcoming and loved letting us see their unique property. There are dogs (who stay near Lisa and the residence) and horses (in their paddock). We had two relaxing, starry nights with no AC needed - in June! It's a great place to stop over when traveling on Hwy 40 or to stay a while and see the area.

Weekend Trip to Quarter Spring Farm

Truly a wonderful and relaxing weekend! Heather thank you for hosting!

We enjoyed the Christine’s land, it was very quite , peaceful environment along with short distance trails.

So this was my 1st camping trip. I’m glad we chose to do it here on Christine’s land. It was a beautiful property with plenty of privacy. There are trails and parks close by to visit. I can’t recommend this place enough. 5 stars!

Everything was excellent. The place is very well maintained.

We’ve been to Belle & Beau Acres several times and it never disappoints. Christine is always so great about communication. And the land is beautiful and very well maintained. It’s the perfect place to get away from it all with some friends and family!

We had a wonderful experience at Belle and Beau Acres while celebrating a birthday away from the city. The property was peaceful and charming, exactly what we were looking for. Christine was incredibly kind and responsive, always ready to help with any questions we had throughout our stay. One of the highlights was the waterfall hike. It was gorgeous and our service dog, Moose, absolutely loved it! We even found a small rock with Crinoid fossils, which was such a cool surprise. All in all, it was a relaxing and memorable trip. We’re already looking forward to coming back!

I really enjoyed camping at Christine’s! She was there to greet us upon arrival. The campsite felt private and spaced out from the other campers.

Weekend Trip to Historic Log Cabin

I loved the tent site we stayed at, it was so beautiful right next to the river! There's a perfect spot for your hammock, a small fire pit with chairs, and a nice clearing to set up your tent. The other sites were far away enough that it felt quiet and serene. Christine was super accommodating and has firewood and other small memorabilia you can add on for purchase. The location is nearby to a few state parks, too, making it the perfect homebase to go out and enjoy a variety of hikes, waterfalls, swimming holes and so much else. I just have to emphasize that the hike down to the campsite was quite steep, make sure you pack accordingly as you have to carry your things down (and back up!) My friend and I are pretty athletic but it was still a demanding trip back and forth. Also, if you have a small car you may not be able to drive your car up to the start of the steep hike, meaning you'll have to walk from the driveway along the property to the campsite. We also were expecting an outhouse and a cold shower which unfortunately there was no shower. I'm not sure if this was updated on hipcamp but there was no shower available, but the outhouse was located at the top of the campsite. Overall, we had an awesome, peaceful stay and I definitely would recommend the spot to anyone looking for a beautiful campsite that's nearby to so many amazing hikes and waterfalls.

Our hipcampers are what made The Slab such an amazing place, and we are truly sorry that things didn't work out to where we could stay open. Kent and I are still looking into other options as to how we could move forward in the future with the part of the farm that we still own. So stay tuned for announcements for 2026. Great riverfront campsites as well as more secluded wooded sites just a short walk away from the riverfront. Howlin' Hill has the best riverfront beach access on this stretch of the gorgeous Duck River. Most of our campsites are shaded by a continuous tree canopy and each site is equipped with a fire pit. We have firewood for sale. Early summertime offers an amazing light show performed by thousands of lightning bugs. Portables and spring fed showers are provided within walking distance from your site. Located just 8 miles from Chapel Hill and Henry Horton State Park, our campgrounds can be reached in under an hour from many of Middle Tennessee’s more urban areas. We do allow early check in as long as the campsite is clear out from previous campers. We are very strict on our speed limit on the property. It is 5 mph for a reason. Please do the requested speed.

A short list of what to expect on site includes: PRIVACY - ADVENTURE - GETAWAY Quick response time/Clear communication Spacious, shady, leaf-bed campsites 360 degree views of relaxing nature 27 Foot Waterfall (365 days of flow except during severe drought) Rock shelter under Ledge Waterfall Two shallow lazy rivers for soaking Hiking trails onsite Multiple spring-fed creeks Countless water cascades for exploring Star gazing over wide pastures Old forests for ample shade and hammock hanging Cellular reception at campsites (usually at least 1 bar) Please read the site descriptions carefully to match your style of camping with the appropriate campsite. BBA guests frequently camp with a tent, vehicle, smaller camper, hammock tent, roof top tent, pop-up camper and similar styles. Most photos in this listing are taken onsite. COMMUNITY COMFORT STATION: There is a comfort station with an outdoor shower stall for hanging your own solar shower bag. A toilet seat and bucket system is provided but guests will need to use their own waste disposal bags, available at most camping supply stores. The backside of the comfort station has a rain barrel (not potable) collection system for extinguishing fires. OFF-ROAD CONDITIONS: Due to the primitive nature of our location, all reservations should expect hilly terrain and potential bumpy or some muddy road access, especially after heavy rain. We ask all guests to help us minimize impacts by driving with care. Vehicles with low ground clearance or low-profile tires are no longer permitted to use the off-road drive and must park at the entrance. If you want a campsite with the shortest walk from the entrance parking area, you will want to select campsite 5, 9 or 6. When the road is open during unusually wet periods, we recommend AWD or 4WD as a precaution. We are continuously working on improvements for our off-road drive. Waterloo Falls

The Property: Located north of Cookeville in the rolling hills and farmland, our property is on Spring Creek, a state scenic river. Situated between two waterfalls and featuring over half a mile of river frontage to explore. Float, fish and relax listening to the cascading water. Perfect for bird watchers- blue and green herons, ospreys, hawks, bald eagles and more. You may spot the creek critters- minks, beavers, and otters. Various types of bass, craw dad's and minnows are in the creek. We operate similar to a state park. We are open to the public from 10am-7pm, peak season. We have other listings that are spaced so each of our guests has privacy. Please see aerial photo for an overview. We sometimes have small events (birthday parties, ect) at the pavilion. Please feel free to message us first, if you would like to see if there are any events during your stay. There are 2 restrooms centrally located at the pavilion. One bathroom has a shower with hot water, soap, shampoo/conditioner included. The restrooms are shared with our other listings. There are USB and regular outlets in the pavilion and WiFi. During warm season the outdoor kitchen is available as well. We also rent out a Suite which is located above the pavilion. Quiet hours are 10pm-8am. Pets are welcome as long as they are leashed and picked up after. Please note there is a gun range 2 hollers away and depending on the season, it can be heard from our property. Tent in the Trees Listing: Your tent site is built above the trail and overlooking the creek. The tent is equipped with a queen bed, linens, extra blankets & essential cooking gear. There is a fire pit with grill and griddles for cooking over wood or charcoal. Really, all you need is clothes, food and drink! Primitive Camp Site: The rustic camp site is DIY. It is 300' from pavilion, and 600' from Tent in the Trees. We provide a picnic table and fire pit You bring all the rest of your gear. Typically, you may park next to your campsite. No RV's, converted vans are permitted. If you have a very small camper, please message us to see if we can accommodate. There are no hookups, and no loud generators allowed. Bundles of wood available $10. Escape in nature and sleep soundly to the sounds of the creek!

Quarter Spring Farm

Quarter Spring Farm is located in Liberty, TN on the western edge of the Cumberland Plateau. It comprises 63 acres of wooded ridges and hollows with exceptional hiking and distinct landscape features. Smith Fork Creek, which feeds Center Hill Lake, is visible from the campsite. Quarter Spring Farm’s history is murky and still being discovered. The house is over 100 years old. There are stone property walls that may predate the civil war. We believe this site was a Mississippian period settlement because of the large amount of artifacts we have found. Please note: there is no electricity at the dome. There will be a battery with a light and the option to charge your phone. There is no parking at the dome. The walk is uphill and takes about 5 minutes or so. This is still a tent, the dome is not insulated and is not 100% sealed. Bugs do get inside from time to time. I will also provide you with water for cleaning and at least a gallon to drink. Just let me know if you need more. If you can get here before it gets dark, that is the best. If you can’t, that’s ok, we’ll just be hiking in the dark. Luckily I know my way around pretty good.

Originally established in the late 1970s by the Army Corps of Engineers, this campground served as a beloved retreat until funding issues led to its closure in the late 1980s. After years of neglect, it was revitalized in the early 2000s when Jean Harden secured a grant to breathe new life into the site. Leasing the land from the USACE, she successfully reopened the campground, creating a welcoming space for outdoor enthusiasts. In 2018, we took over the campground, excited to continue its legacy. The breathtaking wildlife and lush trees captivated us from the start, and we quickly grew fond of the warm and welcoming community in Middle Tennessee. Our campground offers a serene escape, complete with ample privacy and beautiful natural surroundings.
