The trail is 76.2 miles of waterfalls, rivers, and mountains stretching from Oconee State Park to Table Rock State Park. As soon as the oldest child moved out of his room above the garage, we started hosting thru-hikers hostel-style. Fair warning: it’s an “open concept” bathroom, true studio style. Great for one person but could be awkward for two.

This year I am only opening tent camping for one group at a time so you can experience the mountains in the most peaceful setting. The upper camping area has plenty of flat areas for vans, cars, trucks and tents, and if you don't mind carrying our tent down the hill, the lower creekside camping area is THE PERFECT stargazing spot. There's plenty of room to set up any size tent down there, too. basically, You have the campground to make yourself totally at home.
Site 3: Simple Car Camping Spot - Just want a spot to pull over camp for the night close toDuPont State Forest? We can make that happen. No tents allowed here, but it's a peaceful alternative to a cracker barrel parking lot.

Once you set up camp feel free to visit the Coffee Shed - It's a small shed on the property by the house that has everything you need to make a great cup of coffee. Coffee is always free. :)
I have fire pits, tables an, if I am home, I have a super cute corgi that roams around the property throughout the day. If you spot me outside feel free to say hi or ask any questions about the area. I love helping guests find new places to explore.
You will be about 8 minutes to DuPont State Forest (my favorite hiking and biking area) which has miles and miles of hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding trails. The entrance to Pisgah National Forest is about 15 minutes away as well so it's a convenient drive to visit the forest and drive up to the Blue Ridge Parkway.
I also own a company that guides "coffee hikes" to local waterfalls in DuPont State forest. You can find more about that in the photo descriptions. :)
Please note!! My road up to my driveway is steep and bumpy. It’s only 0.3 miles up but bumpy. You don't need four wheel drive but higher ground clearance is recommended. (I have had small cars make it up but it is a bit intimidating if you are not used to driving in the mountains). if you have a small car just go slow. :)

If you are planning a larger group camping retreat and want to book the entire campground (including the main house with indoor shower, restrooms, and full kitchen and spare bedroom) I can make that happen for $500 a night. We have one campsite on our 1.5 acre property. Located 2 miles from downtown Tryon, where you'll find restaurants and shops. The property is on the Pacolet River. Guests are welcome to fish and use the fire pit area on the river. There is also a small Airbnb on the property. The river, fire pit area are to be shared with all guests. The campsite is located next to our bathhouse that offers a shower, toilet, sinks, and washer dryer unit.
Property line runs along the large pine trees near the river, we ask that you stay on our property only. The surrounding area is still cleaning up from Hurricane Helene.

Jen and Joe moved to the South Carolina Upstate in 2023 and discovered they were within minutes of the Foothills Trail. The trail is 76.2 miles of waterfalls, rivers, and mountains stretching from Oconee State Park to Table Rock State Park. As soon as the oldest child moved out of his room above the garage, we started hosting thru-hikers hostel-style. Fair warning: it’s an “open concept” bathroom, true studio style. The upper camping area has plenty of flat areas for vans, cars, trucks and tents, and if you don't mind carrying our tent down the hill, the lower creekside camping area is THE PERFECT stargazing spot. There's plenty of room to set up any size tent down there, too. basically, You have the campground to make yourself totally at home.
Site 3: Simple Car Camping Spot - Just want a spot to pull over camp for the night close toDuPont State Forest? We can make that happen. No tents allowed here, but it's a peaceful alternative to a cracker barrel parking lot.

Once you set up camp feel free to visit the Coffee Shed - It's a small shed on the property by the house that has everything you need to make a great cup of coffee. Coffee is always free. :)
I have fire pits, tables an, if I am home, I have a super cute corgi that roams around the property throughout the day. If you spot me outside feel free to say hi or ask any questions about the area. I love helping guests find new places to explore.
You will be about 8 minutes to DuPont State Forest (my favorite hiking and biking area) which has miles and miles of hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding trails. The entrance to Pisgah National Forest is about 15 minutes away as well so it's a convenient drive to visit the forest and drive up to the Blue Ridge Parkway.
I also own a company that guides "coffee hikes" to local waterfalls in DuPont State forest. You can find more about that in the photo descriptions. :)
Please note!! My road up to my driveway is steep and bumpy. It’s only 0.3 miles up but bumpy. You don't need four wheel drive but higher ground clearance is recommended. (I have had small cars make it up but it is a bit intimidating if you are not used to driving in the mountains). if you have a small car just go slow. :)

If you are planning a larger group camping retreat and want to book the entire campground (including the main house with indoor shower, restrooms, and full kitchen and spare bedroom) I can make that happen for $500 a night. This was a spur of the moment stay and turned out good. It is a little difficult without running water to the cabin with kids (there is a bath house with restrooms within walking distance). The cabin itself was beautiful, we stayed in number 1. There are 4 of them very close by, so if you are seeking privacy it won't be here. Across the cabin is a fenced in area for the farm animals. We did not check that out due to timing of other plans, but is probably cool for the kids. We were able to have a campfire which was really nice to have. All in all, if you are just needing a spot to sleep id recommend it, not so much for hanging out, especially with younger kids. I have a 10 and 4 year old.
The drive way is paved most of the way, lots of twists and turns. We arrived after sundown so it was a little challenging finding but nothing crazy.

I found it lovely in my passing through for 2 nights! The river was nice, I felt safe and secluded, and there was everything I needed! The shower was a huge plus! The store is convenient if needed, too. I heard cars passing from Campsite 1, but it wasn’t an annoyance. I’m sure it’s quieter with foliage too, as I was there in December. There was eucalyptus growing on the farm and it was nice to walk by and smell too. Thank you for opening your space!

It is impossible to state how lovely this location and hosts are! Every accommodation and possible need was sumptiuously met. The room had a plush sense of comfort and a thoughtful design for utility. It is a perfect location for endless hiking and historical adventures, and the town of Pickens is adorable yet also full of every necessary type of shop or eatery. The property is impeccable and peaceful. The hosts clearly love their home, town and nature. They were deeply kind and were a wealth of information about area hikes and destinations!

The cozy cabin on wheels was the perfect spot for a Thanksgiving weekend camping trip with my son and dog. The cabinet itself was adorable and you could tell a lot of thought was put into the amenities. Even though it froze while we were there, we were snug as a bug in our little cabin. I loved that my dog could be off leash and play with the host’s dog and cat as well. Although the house was not far, we felt we had all the privacy we needed. Our host was just a message away from answering any questions we may have had and gave lots of local recommendations. We will definitely be back!

My husband and I stayed 3 nights in campsite 1. We loved sitting by the fire overlooking the creek. The camp store was stocked with firewood and had a coffee pot for our use, which was very nice. Even though a highway was close, the traffic noise was never a concern. It was quiet at night. Craig was a nice host, and very helpful. We would love to camp there again.
