At Camp Moondog, our philosophy is simple: provide a carefree, clean, and natural environment for a relaxing camping experience. If we’re available, we’re happy to use our ATVs to help transport your gear to any of the campsites—just give us at least a day’s notice so we can plan to meet you.
Because the property naturally offers ample deadfall for firewood, we do not provide or sell pre-packaged bundles. Please keep this in mind if there has been recent rainfall, as the downed wood may be damp.

We started the campground in 2016 after friends of the family pitched their tents down along the creek. They shared their enjoyment with us, and we realized how much we enjoyed knowing they were down there camping. We both have a great appreciation for God's creation and decided to open our gates to you. Lynn is a true Blue Ridge native and we both hope you enjoy the proximity to our towns, the mountains, rivers, streams, and waterfalls. The local apple orchards are also amazing! Hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding and rafting are only a few of the activities available within a short drive. My pup and I stayed in the uber-comfy site 3 tent by the creek. There's a little bench where I sat and crocheted until dusk and we slept so soundly in the bed. Woke up early and hiked Vicki's suggested Moore's Cove and it was perfect. Vicki and Brian were super friendly and greeted us with literal open arms. Will stay again!

We loved our stay at Damon's creekhouse! I've been a few times now and it's such a pleasant experience every time. The house is amazing, we could hear the water, frogs croaking and other nature sounds while laying in bed. 10/10!

Great spot not to far off route 25 but far enough you don’t hear the road. I personally Car camped and camp site 1 was perfect because you get your own parking area. Pup friendly! The host was super helpful with suggestions in the area. If you are traveling with a pup make sure to stop at the Carl Sandburg NPS site for a Bark ranger Badge! It’s less than 20 mins away and a great place to walk your pup! Would definitely stay again if I’m ever in the Flat Rock area!

My wife and I enjoyed this place alot. If better if you have kids. The out house was a bonus for us. There's a little playhouse for children and a lot of walking trails. Nice flat surface to pitch your tent. Huge fire pit. "A little to big for me" kind of secluded. There was traffic noise Friday night. Saturday night was alot better. Didn't hear anything at night. Maggie was easy to contact and on top of it. Close to travelers rest and Greenville so you have access to anything you could want or need. Thank you Maggie for allowing us to stay on your property. It's beautiful and peaceful.

What a fantastic spot Beth provides. After a long day of travel and mountain biking Beth’s directions were spot on. I pulled and settled in for a quiet evening and a great nights sleep. The morning solitude provided time for coffee and to update the sprinters log. I’m pretty sure I’ll be back on another trip.

Weekend Trip to Cold Spring Basecamp
peaceful, and easy to find. We loved out little winter escape to the A-frame. We brought in our own water so we didnt have to filter. The toilets are great! Everything is so well keep up.

This was a spur of the moment stay and turned out good. It is a little difficult without running water to the cabin with kids (there is a bath house with restrooms within walking distance). The cabin itself was beautiful, we stayed in number 1. There are 4 of them very close by, so if you are seeking privacy it won't be here. Across the cabin is a fenced in area for the farm animals. We did not check that out due to timing of other plans, but is probably cool for the kids. We were able to have a campfire which was really nice to have. All in all, if you are just needing a spot to sleep id recommend it, not so much for hanging out, especially with younger kids. I have a 10 and 4 year old.
The drive way is paved most of the way, lots of twists and turns. We arrived after sundown so it was a little challenging finding but nothing crazy.

Easy to read signs for different campsites, very nice host, and peaceful setting by the river. Also a generous amount of firewood for a reasonable price. I will definitely be back if I'm ever in the area again.
