This site is accessed via a short trail through the trees down a gentle, sloping hill, and finally by a short stairway, and as such it may not be easily accessible for campers with limited mobility. Located on the grounds of the Duckpond Pottery, The Quack Shack is a secluded treehouse perched along the banks of the French Broad River. The structure is an 8x10 A-frame that transforms via a hinged wall into an open-air cabana with a charming deck that affords spectacular views of the French Broad River and surrounding countryside. The interior of the Quack Shack, with its vaulted 11-foot ceiling and earthen plaster walls, provides a warm glow in a rainforest environment. It is furnished with a comfortable seating area surrounding a coffee table that can be easily converted to a full-size queen bed at night. On the outside deck are beach chairs and a chimenea available for use. The quack shack has electric power (1 outlet only). Amenities include a bathroom located a short walk away at the main building as well as an open-air on-demand shower located off the bathroom on a deck overlooking the French Broad River. Morning coffee and tea is available at The Tea Hut located just a hop, skip, and jump from the treehouse. A new two person wood fired hot tub and cold plunge is now located just off the steps of the treehouse. (Contact us if you’d like to reserve it during your stay). Kids can enjoy swings and slides. We used it for a small gathering where about a dozen guests gathered during the day and six spent the night. Could not have been happier with property or hosts. Fireworks are legal and permitted within reasonable hours. Horses are welcome.

Absolutely FABULOUS getaway. The facilities are beautiful- clean, warm, and welcoming. Leaves you feeling like a home away from home. We were only there for one night- but we didn’t want to leave. We had our own campfire right outside the tent. If you forgot anything - no worries! The camp store had everything you could possibly need. We will most definitely be back.

This was a delightful glamping experience. The tents are clean and the beds while firm were comfortable. Everything is well maintained. We spent some time in the sauna, w much was nice. There is a little shop adjacent to the common area which has additional supplies and foodstuffs if needed. Great getaway for a weekend or a trip to the woods.

Such a fabulous host and overall excellent experience! Just book it and know you are going to experience something truly unique on this property and be well taken care of. Every detail has been very uniquely crafted. During our stay we felt very safe, relaxed and enjoyed the beautiful sounds of the river. The nights came alive with a beautiful moon and the sounds of nature. Coyotes in the far distance, raccoon, and a beautiful herd of deer drinking from the river. I hope all others who visit will respect and appreciate it as much as we did!

While we didn’t get to stay in the dome due to a booking challenge, the host placed us in a super cute A-frame. The grounds were clean and inviting. The over the fire pit rack was perfect for some wood grilled burgers!! The hot tub/sauna/cold plunge was spectacular. There was always a wave to be had by the staff as they drove by. Future glamours should know that the in unit “coffee maker” is a French press, which in a unit with electricity, was a little disappointing, since the trek to get boiling water was at a coffee vending station. Otherwise, it served the purpose well for a beautiful outdoor getaway.

We had a wonderful stay at the Quack Shack. Lovely river views. Nick was a kind host and made sure we had everything we needed. The sleeping arrangements were comfy and the place was well maintained. Easy walk from your car to the spot. Weather at night was in the high 40s and we slept comfortably with doors closed, blankets, and warm clothes.

By far the best place ever stayed. Perfect place for relaxation. The breakfast Chef was amazing (Megan) and the dinner by the waterfall was absolutely perfect with Chef Amber Highly recommend them both. The cabin is absolutely perfect and down to every feature and the shower incredible. The amount of care this place offered was 10 star for sure. Will be staying again. Dana and David are so nice and make this place the best place for relaxation.

The place is thoughtfully laid out. Love the multiple housing options. We stayed in the yurt, decorated with intention. The lights at night in the trees made the evening feel warm and inviting. Bathrooms were clean. When entering the address in the gps be sure to put in the city Travelers Rest, address defaults to Greenville which is a residential area. Great stay, definitely want to try out another house perhaps the A frame house. :)

We had a great time at the Quack Shack!! Nick was super nice and met us at his pottery studio to show us around and then we had the place to ourselves all night. He was kind enough to leave us with scrap wood to make a fire in the chimnea!!! Everything was clean and the A-frame was super cozy. Absolutely wonderful glamping experience complete with two heaters to keep us warm all night, nearby bathrooms, and a stocked coffee/tea bar. We would absolutely come back and recommend this place to friends!

I loved staying on Nicks land, the site was beautiful and relaxing. He had all the amenities we needed and then some. He met us at the tea Hut to give us a tour of everything and updates on work he's doing to improve his sight which will include a sauna and another hot tub, So we will definitely be going back. He was a great host and he let us check out a little bit later to give us more time the following day to enjoy the shack.
