There is a composting toilet and outdoor shower with a propane water heater for warm showers. Please bring your own bath towel. Please confirm you can walk up a staircase. Learn more about this land: Happy Bears Camp would really be suitable for those passing on I-5, who want a quiet place to park for the night. We are only one mile from I-5 (mile marker 80). Heading North on exit 80, there's a sharp 25 mph off-ramp on a downhill -Take it slow! There are lots of reservoirs, and a few rivers in the general area. The closest Reservoir is 12 miles away. Crater Lake is two hours away. The Pacific Ocean is 2 hours 15 minutes away. Closest river is less than a mile. You will cross it on the way here. There is lots of BLM land with dirt road access in the area. There is hunting in the area. The tiny town of Glendale is three miles away, (one route is safe for bicycles). There is a Grocery store, bank, laundry, three restaurants, two gas stations and a bakery. There are also two parks in town. One has a Frisbee golf course. Easy RV parking in town. On the way here, you will pass one of the restaurants and gas stations with a lot big enough to accommodate the largest RV. On the property: You may walk around. There aren't any trails and the undergrowth gets thick quickly under the trees. There is a fire break to walk, that circles the meadow. This will give you access to the trees. If you walk up the right side, our neighbor's dog will make a ruckus as you pass their house. Don't worry, just noise. At the top of the meadow, is a lovely view over this part of the valley.

In 1948 a wildfire came thru what then was a mixed forest of spars old growth conifers, evergreen and deciduous broadleaf trees burning intensely enough to render the entire area to primarily grassland. Today it is quickly returning to primarily mixed forest, recovering the ability to hold water at cooler temperatures as it once did. Nestled on the south slope of Dickinson Mountain it offers plenty of sunshine yet some of the best cool freshwater to be found anywhere. Although much of this paradise is considerably steep there are ample cow and goat trails to make exploring extremely enjoyable. Bachelor Creek which runs thru approximately 1/2 mile of the Southeast portion is home to beaver, cutthroat, western pond turtles, great blue heron, and many other wildlife. There is a pair of resident Redtail hawks, wild turkeys, deer, bobcat, coyote, cougar, mink, flying, silver grey, and pine squirrels, owls (sawhete, screach, Pigmy, barred, and great horned), and many others. There are also many swimming holes on Bachelor Creek and a tributary we call Dancing creek, although they are all somewhat small the water is nice and refreshing for a quick dip on a warm day. This is a working farm raising cattle, and chickens. On that note please don't feed any of the animals as they could become a real nuisance. If you are going to be leaving your camp for a hike or swim etc. please secure any food items to avoid a potential disaster. The farm is 170 acres (a half mile by a half mile) and there is a fence all the way around it. Feel free to hike wherever, as long as you don't cross any fences you are still here. You can take a dip in the creek where it comes out of the culvert below the road and there is a picnic table at each site as well as at the dipping hole.

Learn more about this land: One mile from I-5, you may pitch your tent or park your van in a meadow near some fir trees bordering Elk Creek. Feel the restful flow of water bringing tranquility.  Follow hiking trails along the creek, through groves of trees, or play in the singing creek. There is another hiking trail to another portion of the creek to the right of the road that passes by the barn. A sign on an oak tree indicates the edge of the large mowed meadow that will take you to another sign for the trail to the creek. When entering the property at the county road, you’ll see a big Century Farm sign on the left at the driveway entrance. Continue past a brown machine shed. You will see two apple trees on your left. Just beyond the apple trees is a sign, on a big fir tree. This sign points to the direction of the campsite. Shaped like an arrow it points to the mowed path down to the creek and campsite which you may drive. Uphill from the campsite is a trail going through a small copse of trees that leads up to the red barn. On the left, at the entrance to the barn, is a bathroom complete with sink and shower. Towels are not provided. Beneath the apple trees is a faucet with potable drink safety hose and a bucket for your use.

Weekend Trip to The Park at Loon Lake

Peter's ,"The park at Loon Lake" was awesome, so much better than I was expecting. This was our first time using Hipcamp and I was slightly skeptical when I shouldn't have been. The directions were spot on and when we pulled in, Peter was driving up at that same time and greeted us and another camper. He showed us where to go and we set up. The space we chose was super close to the lagoon/lake and basically a really large open field, he provided 10 gallons of his natural spring water if needed, which I thought was a nice touch. He had kayaks, canoes, and paddle boards available to rent and he dropped off lifejackets for us. We petted and enjoyed interacting with his friendly dogs and 3 goats. It's a really beautiful spot and definitely plan on coming back with friends and family. PS bring binoculars to watch the wildlife, we saw multiple bald eagles, osprey, woodpeckers, robins, swallows, geese, ducks, beavers, bull frogs, fish... it's a really beautiful peaceful space. Thanks for having us!

If there’s a review to read it’s this one - This place is the absolute best. I have been road tripping across the U.S for 1.5 months now (staying at state parks, air bnbs, hotels, countless hipcamps) and couldn’t believe I found this place. When I arrived I was greeted by Peter who was the nicest/coolest guy. He helped me make my campfire and spent lots of time talking to him. I ended up staying an extra night just because of how much I enjoyed the place. The animals, birds, and amenities were incredible. It beats any place I’ve stayed at so far along my trip, and I wish I could go back. I stayed at site #7&8 and had the best time. If you’re ever in the area or not (I drove an extra 1.5 hours out of my way to come here) I would highly suggest it! The bathrooms were incredibly clean, the place had so much room for privacy and walking and etc, and it was clear that a lot of work was put into making it what it is. Oh and the sunsets are the best you’ll ever see! Such a great time! 10/10.

Peter built the fireplace for us the day we got there, and even mowed down a path for us to enjoy walking along the river. We saw elk, a bullfrog, plenty of dragon flies, and a beaver! We rented kayaks and enjoyed sitting by the river watching an eagle. We stayed for 10 days but wish we could've stayed longer.

1 night at The Park at Loon Lake

If there’s ever a review to trust, it’s this one - I’ve been traveling the U.S solo roadtripping for a month+ now and have been saying at Hipcamps, airbnbs, state parks, and free campsites. Out of all the places I’ve seen and stayed at, this one is by far the best. I ended up staying an extra day because I liked it so much. The host was super cool to talk with and he was helpful with so much, helped me make a campfire too! If you’re solo, or with a family or huge group it’s all amazing. There’s a beautiful creek that runs through and has the coolest birds/animals. Bald eagles, deer, beavers, ducks, etc like everything. It’s quiet, and very well maintained. The amount of work that went into here is also incredible. I fished the creek, bird-watched, cooked out by the fire pits, swam, watched the craziest sunset here, and there was even more to do (kayak, goats, etc). If you stumble upon this campsite, I would highly highly recommend it. 10/10.

3 nights at River Front Retreat

Perfect campsite along the river. We spent three nights there mid-week and were lucky to have the whole place to ourselves. Campsite exactly as advertised, easy to locate and reasonable proximity to some local amenities. Our dog enjoyed the freedom of the site and we all enjoyed daily dips in the river. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a simpler campsite that offers more space and privacy in a serine location.

Beautiful views, perfect private river access, but after site checks would be appreciated as ours was not in ideal condition. The host was communicative and quick to respond. Site 4 is the most private. It was noisyyyyy, however. Traffic was very loud and frequent, as it is right off umpqua hiway. So have a portable noise maker if tent camping!

This was my very first hipcamp experience and it did bot disappoint. A lovely area for camp! Marcus has a porta potty on site and a propane heated shower! The creek was sooo beautiful and relaxing. Marcus came down and said hello with helpful info like how to start the propane fire ring (no burning of firewood in Oregon) which was a wonderful addition to my experience. A beautiful serene site and I recommend this to campers who crave the outdoors - with a few thoughtful comforts. Most excellent experience!!

Weekend Trip to Woodland Hills Ranch

We enjoyed our stay. I was glad I read the reviews. Most of the property that we saw was very steep. We were able to find a spot and level our trailer, but we didn't even set anything up outside because the ground sloped so much. This was a great base camp for visiting in the area, which was all we needed. The driveway to get up the hill is rather bumpy and rutted in spots.

Would very much recommend. Ron was super nice, accommodating and even had the site stocked with wood for us upon our arrival. The property is beautifully tucked away and a peaceful retreat for anyone trying to escape the congestion of your typical campground.
