In the early 1980's the family began planting grapes on the property and now the vineyard is the predominate feature for the farm. Weekend Trip to RV Tent Camping near River
Tad and Alanna met me at my arrival for a quick get-to-know and what was needed. Semi-private camp spot was close to chickens, but surprisingly they were not noisy (thankfully no rooster that I heard). Spot is off the main road so only road noise was passing neighbor cars. Crab apple trees were ripe for picking, blackberries already finished. I spent my daytime hours away from camp spot and at the McMinnville Highland Games Festival where I was competing in heavy athletics. On my departure day, I received a thank you note expressing interest in the Highland Games after meeting me and stating that their family was their watching me, which added a nice personal touch to the visit.

Such an easy drive from the Portland area, and a romantic atmosphere with the way it’s lit up, and the fire pits. The bikes at each site are a nice touch, and the pass they give you to get discounts at nearby vineyards. Some tips if it’s your first time - consider bringing mainly microwaveable food as that was the only means of cooking inside our RV. The grill outside wasn’t covered and we would have gotten wet if it were raining. It was very private inside the RV but the site outside isn’t very private. It’s pleasant and has comfy chairs, though, and people give a friendly wave as they walk by. Also it’s very close to town so maybe treat yourself to a meal out while you’re there. :-) I would recommend this as a low-key, easy weekend getaway.

Weekend Trip to Agate Beach Oasis
The location was amazing, right across the highway from the ocean, with several close points of access. Sarah pointed us to some local, quieter sections of the beach to access. The hot tub was perfect for this location, both to warm up from cooler Newport days (was high of 70 in Newport, while Portland/Salem were over 100) and to drown out noise from the highway. Also nice to have an outdoor fireplace, and fenced yard for pups. Only issue was bottoming out as I exited with our 45’ toy hauler. However, Victor and Sarah were incredibly helpful getting us out safely. Victor even shoveled the road to level things out a bit (and sounds like they are planning on upgrading the path to get out after our struggles). Overall, the nicest and most helpful hosts we’ve stayed with. Price was on the higher end for sure, but we did find it last minute for Labor Day weekend so given that, and all the benefits (escaping blazing heat and getting a place to ourselves on the beach with hot tub) it was relatively reasonable.

This is a great little spot with a picnic table and fire-pit. You can nestle your camper next to the tree to create a screen between you and the house. The spot is level and easy to back into. Alanna was very attentive when we arrived to inform us of where to park. We were here 24 hours- wine tasted in the region- great access to town and wineries. Enjoy!

Highly recommend staying at this location. The family that own this property are amazing and very helpful! Lots of room and fresh air to breath. Not a lot of traffic so it is very quiet and a great place to put your feet up and relax or go for a walk. Good views and some wildlife viewing including deer rabbits and birds. Can't recommend Kari's place enough!!!!

If your looking to jaunt from camp a little further, we are located a little over an hour and a beautiful drive to the Pacific Coast and about an hour from Portland. Although in the middle of the country woods, we are surprisingly only two and a half miles from the adorable and quaint town of Carlton. So beside the views, you’ll be alongside some fantastic eateries and outstanding winemakers.  Being raised in the community, and over ten years of experience in the local food and wine industry, I can give recommendations aplenty.   ꕥ  The property has been in our family since the late 60’s and has recently been transferred in ownership to the next generation! It’s been a large adjustment with many precious memories in tow. In hopes to carry on the legacy we opened up camp mid-summer 2021, and it’s a work in progress (as work normally is!), but has been a beautiful experience being in a position to share. There are two family homes on the property with people who truly admire this land! With the work of these past couple seasons, and thanks to our fellow campers, we have been able to lay more gravel, get a more fluid bathroom situation established, and lay out a few more sites! Enjoy a quarter mile of Kilchis River access in the Tillamook Forest! If you prefer a more private setting you can put up a tent or bring a small RV on the riverside site on the far west end of the property, or choose the comfort of staying in our rustic cabin. Book both sites for extra large groups or if you need more space/privacy. There is no electricity or running water in the cabin, however a generator can be rented if it is desired. Potable water is also available if you bring a jug to fill. A portable toilet is available on-site. Take advantage of the opportunity to go fishing, swimming, or launch your boat/kayak/tube. Alternatively, simply relax and enjoy the picturesque views of the river and the wildlife in the coastal rainforest. Watch the salmon jump during spawning season in November, or cast a rod from our private fishing spot. We are also a birdwatcher's and rockhounding paradise! Just a few minutes away from town amenities, this location allows you to immerse yourself in the tranquility of the forested river canyon, away from the hustle and bustle of the city. We are family and fur baby friendly! If you are an animal lover, take the time to enjoy a visit with our cats and chickens too. *Please note, while we have no direct neighbors, we are in a narrow river canyon. There is an active farm and wedding venue across the river. You may hear distant noise of their operations or events, depending on the season. There is also a quarry across the road that operates M-F, from 8a-3p that sometimes can be heard sporadically throughout the day.

Please be careful when using Google maps, for whatever reason it has taken several people to other places other than mine. I posted a picture of the entrance of my property, hopefully this will help. Hurlys Hideaway is a very nice location located approximately 2 miles from the town of Tillamook. Very close to the beach Sand Lake various Rivers for fishing kayaking swimming Etc. Approximately 4 MI from Netarts Oceanside area, Netarts Bay, Cape Mears. A very nice location to be able to access all of these activities in Tillamook County. My land is Timber, some clearings, we'll see how this goes I'm just getting started. Also, I just learned that the transient tax for Tillamook Oregon is an additional 10% and I hate to do this but I'm going to have to raise my prices $5. If you are coming from Town, I'm 2 mi. from the hospital west on hwy. 131. Look for the purple Minnesota Vikings bus shack. I also put up a hipcamp sign just up my driveway a bit. If you are coming from the south on Fraiser road, turn right when you come to hwy. 131. I'm less than a quarter mile on your left. Also a heads up lately I've had a few people that are having a hard time booking and I learned from another camper if you're staying one night you actually have to select two days it includes the day you check out I just experienced that with another camper so just a bit information I don't know if hip camp changed something or what, but if you're staying one night select two days and it'll work.
