Private & Cozy #5
Private and cozy when ready.
Overall, staying at Hurley’s Hideaway was a convenient and quiet stay. There are a few sites within eyesight but well separated and a clean outhouse within walking distance. Unfortunately, site #5 wasn’t quite ready for our stay as it was recently cleared and there were still some prickers strewn about. Being cautious about our inflatable pads, we requested to have a different site.
Hurley was responsive with messages and provided another site (#1) that was very nice.

Beautiful Place
This was a lovely place to camp for 2 nights with our teardrop trailer. Mark and his dog were there to greet us and made us feel very welcome. The property was beautiful and well kept. We had number 4, which had a great view of the river. Other sites 1-3 are also great, spacious and well positioned. So many birds singing too! The property dog is an adorable big black lab. He is a bit shy, but clearly loves keeping an eye on things. We would definitely recommend this hipcamp. Tillamook is a cute town and has everything you might need. The areas around are also beautiful.
Lower Meadow Site #3
The host was so so sweet and popped in to chat with us a couple of times which was thoughtful… he even brought us some complimentary cheese! The site however does need some love. We managed just fine, but were a little unprepared for the amount of blackberry remnants. Both me and my partner sliced up our feet pretty good walking around (especially walking to the bathroom at night), but it’s fine if you have boots or shoes and something like cardboard to put underneath your tent! There was also virtually no shade at our site until about 3:30-4, which again would have been totally chill if it wasn’t a heat wave and we had a shade cover or something. Beautiful spot though tucked up in the hill and super quiet + close to town and netarts, so convenient for adventures and not as packed as other camp sites. Running water would have been amazing too, but we were prepared for that! Overall a good stay, just needs some leveling and love OR for the camper to be prepared! Thanks for the site!! 😊

Orchard Site #2
The site was lovely and Mark even had a stack of firewood waiting for us.

Site 4 is a beautiful area on Mark’s property. It is large, level and has an amazing view of the Tillamook River. It was quiet and peaceful and all other people on his property were quiet and respectful. It was great meeting Mark. He even provided some wood from a downed tree for a campfire. Mark also gave us a great day trip itinerary exploring the area. The porta potty bathrooms were clean and near by. I would highly recommend Marks’s property. It’s very close to the cute little town of Tillamook and the coast. The Tillamook Creamery is a fun experience too.

Karens Beware #5 is Raw Hosts Great
Overall had a good experience. Mark is a really nice guy and his land has some great potential for good camping spot with more privacy than mainstream locations. If you’re looking for the perfect place to unwind and get away from everything this particular spot Mark has needs some time. If you’re like me and don’t mind a little more raw campsite then it’s a great shady spot, with some good privacy. Overall though spot #5 is pretty rough and new. There wasn’t really a good sized level spot for my tent. It’s not a small tent so some difficulty finding good spots anywhere is expected. Mark came by to check on new arrivals pretty soon after we started unloading. I mentioned the extra rough ground I wasn’t expecting, and he offered to bring a shovel. That was so helpful and I hope the work on the spot is appreciated. I didn’t get a chance to mention the dry brush near the fire pit. It looks like there was some brush cutting done recently and there was a lot of dry stuff around the fire pit. I kept the shovel to get some of that cleaned up. Unfortunately a spade shovel is not the best tool for that. Mark needs to get in there and clear that back farther. Too many people drink and camp so as it gets hotter it could get dicey. I hope the 2024 season goes well Mark and I hope you continue to build a really nice new camping location.
