1 night at Mt. Hood Enchanted Forest

This was a beautiful and peaceful place. The sites are big and private. We fell asleep to the sound of the Sandy River. Joshua was welcoming and generously helped us bring our gear to our site. Being sturdy shoes or hiking boots for the hilly trail that leads to the sites. I look forward to coming again.

The perfect and most peaceful place to spend a few days relaxing. The property and cabin are easy to access, well marked, and lush with beauty. Although this place would perfect for a sweet getaway with a partner or 1-2 friends, I went solo and felt very safe doing so! The bed is also really comfortable. Will definitely be coming back for another stay.

The view of the river from our campsite was beautiful. Like the description says, there are other camp sites close by. But the way each site was tucked into the trees it felt very private.

3 nights at Dog and Wind Mountain RV Park

Best thing about the spot is the location: great proximity to so many wonderful places to explore in the Gorge. The RV Park has great bathrooms, showers and the camp host was super responsive and helpful. As a new RVer, the site was a little challenging to navigate, but probably no problem for someone with experience.

1 night at Mt. Hood Enchanted Forest

This was my first Hipcamp experience, I can’t imagine a better introductory spot. The directions to the property and site were all very clear and thorough. Carts are provided to haul your gear from the parking area to the site, super useful and easy. The slope down from parking (and the porta-pottys) to the sites is a bit steep, keep in mind if anyone in your party has difficulty walking. My site (B) was private and beautiful, and it’s obvious that a lot of care and consideration goes in to planning and maintaining it. We added the optional firewood and camp stove rental on to our reservation, and they were waiting at the site for us when we arrived. The views of the river and the lush forest were both really incredible, I can’t wait to return!

1 night at Dog and Wind Mountain RV Park

We only stayed here for a night, but it had hook ups, clean bathrooms, and laundry. Good location along the Columbia River.

1 night at Mt Hood Vantopia Base Camp

We loved our stay at Vantopia. We travel with our 2 dogs and they loved sniffing around the completely fenced camping area while we were relaxing after an awesome day at the BLM Wildwood Rec area just up the road! We loved how close the amenities were (thrift way and restaurants) while being in the woods. We will be back, as we want to check out multiple trailheads in the vicinity (the zig zag ranger station has all the information on so many hikes and is minutes away.

Weekend Trip to Eight Four Eight Camp

We had an absolutely amazing time camping and this site! We stayed at evergreen grove and it had everything we could have possibly dreamed for tent camping glamping. A huge palate for hanging out, picnic table, separate fire pit area in the sun, a personal porta-potty and potable water access- what more could you ask for! Another bonus was being so close to White Salmon and Hood River for some in-town exploring. We will be coming back soon and often! Truly a hidden gem.

Weekend Trip to Zigzag Mountain Farm on Mount Hood

Zigzag’s was wonderful! I arrived as it was getting dark and it was convenient from major roads and well marked. I parked and followed the signs to the office where Tobias greeted me and showed me around. It was much more than just a tent site! There were bathrooms, showers, a bus converted into a kitchen, a fire pit, an organic garden, yurts, a walking path, just a lot more than what I expected. Everything was clean. All the notes and reminders felt very kind. My tent site was very level, and canopied by trees, secluded but still close to the river, fire pit and houses. I only stayed one night but I would definitely go back and highly recommend this place.

1 night at Mt Hood Vantopia Base Camp

We had a great experience staying at this site! The space was more than enough for our needs—spacious, clean, and very well-maintained. One of the highlights was the covered area for our gear and meals, which really made our stay more comfortable, especially during the evenings. It was a real treat to have running water, making it feel more like a "glamping" experience than a traditional campsite. What I loved most was the seclusion. The site felt private and peaceful, allowing us to relax in nature without the usual crowding that comes with other campsites. But even though it felt tucked away, it was just minutes from everything we needed. The proximity to great restaurants, coffee (recommend Mt. Hood Baking Company), a grocery store, and stunning Mt. Hood and its hiking trails made it so convenient. We had so many outdoor adventures, knowing we had a comfortable, peaceful spot to return to. Highly recommend this site to anyone looking for a peaceful yet well-connected spot for their camper van adventures!

1 night at Dog and Wind Mountain RV Park

Unfortunately there was 2 wildfires within a few miles of the campground when we were supposed to arrive... The roads were all closed and the air was super smoky, but the host reached out and made sure we were aware of the situation and had other arrangements. Very very friendly and helpful, refunded us fully within a few minutes. Wish we could have stayed, will definitely come back another time!

Beautiful views of the river. Off the beaten path in a secluded area, but within just a few minutes of White Salmon, WA and Hood Rover, OR. Host was very friendly and accommodating. Great stay, would definately recommend.

We have reestablished native wildflowers and grasses back into our vineyard in order to help conserve native prairie habitat. 80 percent of our land is oak woodland and is in the process of restoring itself from the aggressive grazing of cattle. Therefore, our farm provides a shelter for deer, turkeys, hawks, and bobcats. We enjoy these animals and give them the space that is due for sharing the land. Zigzag Mountain Farm on Mount Hood

Located on Mount Hood about an hour from Portland, Zigzag Mountain Farm is home to an organic garden, old homestead, house, yurts, and barn. 50 acres of open meadows and forest, bordering thousands of acres of national forest. The farm is home to an organic garden, campfire circle, picnic area, a city bus with a campers' kitchen, outdoor seating area with BBQ, kids play structure and hiking trails. The cabin on the property was built by the original homesteaders. Britta and Jim purchased the property in 2009. It had been vacant for a number of years. Giant slash piles scattered the land from previous logging. The house and cabin were not livable and needed major renovations. In 2019, we purchased and brought in a city bus and converted it to a campers kitchen. A year-round creek flows through the property and 3 major rivers are nearby. The Zigzag Mountain Lookout Trail leaves from the property. The property was homesteaded in the early 1900's. E. Mountain Drive was the wagon train trail into Portland, known as the Barlow Trail. Zigzag Mountain Farm offers the perfect escape from the city.

The original Buckminster Fuller geodome home was built back in the 1970s, and the outbuildings and garden spaces were later added on as the property changed hands over the decades.
