Weekend Trip to The Forest Cupcake
Irene's place is pure magic. I've stayed at some pretty unique and amazing Hip Camps, but this was most definitely in the top two. The yurt itself is so comfortable and cozy; nothing like what you would get at a state park. The wood stove kept us warm all night, and the bed/sheets/pillows were heavenly. We unfortunately had an overcast night, so we didn't get to enjoy the stars (although I have no doubt that this would be a phenomenal stargazing location), but we did get to fall asleep to the sounds of owls all around us. Irene has put so many little touches into her property/yurt that make it feel like you are in another land, yet you're so close to the adorable city of Hood River, or The Dalles for bigger box stores. Please be sure to walk up the hill to find the bench by the tree. The views are spectacular! Thank you Irene, for everything. I hope to come back in every season. :)

1 night at The Forest Cupcake
The yurt was large and private, and had great mood lighting. We were able to warm the yurt up quickly with the wood stove and it kept us warm through the night. The bed was very comfortable. Irene was quick responding back to me. We had a wonderful stay for my husbands birthday!

A wonderful stay at the Cupcake Yurt. Irene and Bill’s land is beautiful and peaceful. Plenty of wildlife to enjoy it with including a Great Horned Owl and a pack of coyotes. We enjoyed the little town of Lyle and even ran into Bill at the Confluence Cafe while sipping coffee and watching Bald Eagles on the Columbia. Having the convenience of a compost toilet, a small sink and well water with the peace of being off grid was the perfect way to disconnect for the weekend.

I needed a last minute escape from the city and took a chance–this was my first experience using Hipcamp!
I brought my dogs, Lewis and Luna, on a fall day with very mixed weather. Irene met us and was SO lovely and informative. We felt so welcome.
They set up a fire in the wood stove ahead of our arrival, 🥹 so the yurt was warm and cozy when we opened the doors. It had everything we needed and a lot more!
I was so moved by the rolling grasslands and the oak and pine woodlands we explored. We didn't mind the weather and can't wait to come back as a family! 👩❤️👨 🐶 🐶
Next time, we'll [remember to] bring the dogs 50-foot leashes to give them a bit more freedom to explore during our hikes.
For what its worth, we completely agree with the leash policy. Our dogs get around, but they live in a city. They both have high prey drives 🐇🐿️ and would not do well with an off-leash wildlife encounter. 🦌🐓🫣 We also understand there are kids nearby and Luna is afraid of small, unpredictable humans. 🤦 We're working on it. 😅
They did meet our old 'host dog' briefly! All were respectful and curious. 🐾 We hope they feel welcome to stop by again next time we're around!
Final note: I'm glad we brought extra towels. We came during tick season–something the house manual mentions. There were plenty but it wasn't a big problem. The dogs get a monthly flea and tick treatment and we just picked them off.

Delightful hosts with an amazing property and extremely well appointed yurt.
Yurt was cozy and warm, even is some rainy and cool fall weather.
Easy communication with hosts. Easy check in. Everything as described and more. Lovely to find such a special spot so close to Portland.
We can't wait to go back.

This was our second stay and it was even better than our first. The location is so peaceful and if you’re looking for rest and rejuvenation, this is it. The view from the hill is spectacular. Our kids loved the trail and staying toasty in the yurt with the wood stove. Absolutely plan to return again!

Weekend Trip to The Snowden Yurt
This spot was cozy, affordable and had everything we needed for a sweet night in the trees. The hosts were thoughtful in setting up the space and left extra bedding and notes to help us navigate the space. The yurt is right off a main road and next to other houses which made us feel extra comfortable and safe. We appreciated the opportunity to stay in this beautiful little spot.

The yurt was beautiful with awesome surroundings. Great stargazing and pretty wildlife like deer around the property. The yurt itself was equipped with everything you need and the hot shower was easy to operate and a nice, luxurious addition.

The yurt was perfect. Well appointed, had all the supplies we needed (minus coffee filters) and it was very peaceful. Having no cell service was a huge bonus too. We'll be there again for sure!

Irene’s Yurt is a beautiful space. You get the feel of camping with all the wonderful outdoor smells, and wow what a star lit sky at night. I loved how homey it felt with a very comfortable bed and all the things you may need for cooking. The privy toilet was clean with no smells. There is a really nice trail through some tall grass that leads you up to a bench for a stunning view of sunrise and sunset. Can’t wait to stay here again

We loved this yurt! Two adults and a toddler stayed here as a basecamp to explore gifford Pinchot Forest and hood river. The amenities are really nice, but it still feels like camping. It’s not super remote so easy to get to town, but we still heard owls all night long and the wind in the trees. The dog who can to visit us every day named Huckle was the sweetest goodest boy. Overall a lovely stay! The bed was really comfortable and the yurt had everything we needed for simple comfort. The fan was key for temperature control, but with some attention to that we were cool and comfy all night even with hot days. Thanks!

We had a fantastic time staying at the forest cupcake for my 30th birthday! It’s the perfect place to stay if you’re not the most experienced outdoors person. The yurt was spacious, clean and welcoming with lots of great things to use like extra blankets, games, dishes and a lantern. Irene was so kind to my brother as he arrived at the site first, and she gave him the lowdown on the yurt set up. There’s a hose for water which is easy to use for cleaning dishes and showering, in addition to a small outhouse. There’s enough electricity in the yurt to charge one device at a time. Would recommend bringing additional lanterns and flashlights to get around during the dark. A memorable trip overall and I hope to come back on the future!

Such a special place! Cozy vibes, friendly and welcoming hosts, wildlife spottings, and sunsets on the people bench. Best vacation we've had in a long time, we'll *DEFINITELY* be back.
Irene is a knowledgeable and warm host, ready and willing to share her inside knowledge of the local hot spots, but also provided is with total privacy.
Our dog loved it too!

Weekend Trip to The Snowden Yurt
Richard’s beautiful Yurt sits on a power spot with awesome views! The wind through the trees sounds like you are deep in the Black Forest (or high in the Alps!) The Yurt is large and cozy at once with many thoughtful details (books and magazines.. lots of kitchen stuff.. plenty of pillows). I very much appreciate his responsiveness and strong business ethic.

Quiet, secluded and friendly little spot. I’m planning to come back next year for sure. The toilet and shower situation was a little “breezy” but hey, we had fun w it and it made us smile.
