In the heart of the Columbia River Gorge just outside Carson, Washington, it is home to a mini-farm with goats, ducks, & chickens. Deer & elk walk through the property on a fairly regular basis depending on the season, it's less than a mile walk (or short drive) to the Wind River & a swimming hole, & a short distance further is the Pacific Crest Trail. A 20-minute drive & you're at the Columbia River. An hour to the West is Portland if you are in the mood for some city life, & 35 minutes east is Hood River, a gorgeous old town with tons of charm. The closest town, Stevenson, Washington is home to shops, local restaurants, & access to the Columbia River. Also in close proximity are amazing waterfalls, trails, & National Forest roads that are close by & well maintained. No matter the season there is something to do a short distance from the property. Keep in mind that the property is very rugged except for the trails we have provided to access other parts of the property. Pets are welcome - please make sure they are well behaved and are kept close to the cabin. I do have my own friendly dogs (Ruby and Muskett) on the property, but they do not have access to the cabin area. Marmot House is a lush 13 acres of mostly old growth forest in the foothills of Mt. Hood, right on the Historic Oregon Trail. It is close to hiking, biking, and forested waterfalls a short drive away. We have beautiful short hikes on trails in our forest on the property. World class windsurfing 30 miles away in Hood River, as well as more amazing waterfall hikes in the Columbia River Gorge. The Sandy River recreation area is just up the road from us and we are 10 mins. from The Sandy Ridge Trail with its 17 miles of mountain bike trails. Each campsite is tucked in the woods and has access our communal fire pit at our gathering space. Our well water tastes amazing! The is not a developed campground, it is our home. We see ourselves as stewards of this hidden forest gem and welcome people to enjoy its beauty. We are avid campers and recently spend 9 months in our teardrop trailer off grid on public lands. Living here we are three family members, one renter and short term volunteer traveler workers. Mt Adams and many hiking trails are nearby. If you are a rafter or a kiter, we are very close to the river as well! It will sleep 4 comfortably- please contact me about extra guests. There is a trundle bed with twin mattresses, and a Queen bed. Both have fitted sheets only. Please bring everything else you may need to be comfortable. The cabin is off grid so charge your electronics beforehand and bring a cooler! It’s a great place for a reset : ) Get your feet on the ground and wake up with the birds chirping. Breathtaking views of Mount Adams can be seen directly from some of the cabins and the grounds. Opportunities for fun adventures and activities abound within these beautiful surroundings, making Trout Lake Cozy Cabins the perfect place to escape and get away from it all. All of the cabins are unique and special with different features to fit almost anyone's needs. All of the cabins feature new and very comfortable queen-sized beds, and all come with their own BBQ grill. Satellite television and free WiFi internet service is available to all guests in each unit. Rustic propane fire places have been installed in each cabin along with air conditioning units to make sure our guests are warm and cozy on the coldest winter nights as well as cool and comfortable on those hot summer days. Parking is ample within steps of each of the cabins and is more than big enough to fit snowmobile trailers, horse trailers, RVs, or any other toys you may want to bring along for your trip. Trout Lake Cozy Cabins was formerly known as Serenity's, named after the restaurant that sat on the property. The Restaurant burned down a number of years ago. Since the restaurant building was rebuilt, we have been excited to have Mt. Adams Pizza on our property for the last 4 years. There are also a number of places to eat within a mile of the cabins including Mount Adams Pizza, the Trout Lake Hall, Post Office Coffee, and the Station Cafe. The Mount Adams Ranger District is a great resource for additional information about the area and recreational activities. Of course, having grown up in the area, we are always happy to answer any questions you may have or provide you with a "local's" tip/suggestions. Don't be shy, we are very friendly people and will go out of our way to make sure you have a memorable stay with us!

The forest view cabin was cozy. We went in winter so bring some extra blankets and you’ll be set. We loved the trails around the property and the goats were so cute. Tyla gave us great recommendations for local restaurants that were delicious and the little cafe in the house was a great added bonus. We also did the sauna and it was amazing.

I have stayed with my wife here before, I have also camped on the property a few times. It has become one of my favorite places to get away. It’s very stress free, Amanda is a wonderful host and the place is quite frankly, stunning. I enjoy places of silence and few people, and this has both. Weekend Trip to Retired DNR Fire Watch Cabin

Absolutely stunning place to stay with tons to do close by. The cabin is extremely cozy and the place is completely secluded. We felt like we were the only ones there. The cabin and the bathroom/kitchen area was clean and stocked with the essentials (plates, fridge/freezer, shower, portable generator for the cabin, lamps, bbq and more). We caught a thunder storm on the last night of our stay and it was so relaxing. We’re excited to come back in the winter when it is snowing.

It's was so beautiful and secluded. We only saw 1 other person while we were there. There were motion sensor lights leading to the cabin, a good size tent space that was included, the propane fire was lovely, and it was really great that wagons were provided to take things down to the cabin. Direct water access was amazing

We loved our time here at the cabin! It's peaceful and feels secluded except for the highway noise (which is just what it is, can't help that!). I love that it is right on the river with its own private beach. There is a picnic table, grill, chairs and even a propane charcoal fireplace. Joshua the owner had thoughtful additions like a hose for dish washing, a recycling box and a can recycling spot right at he site. The walking trails are labeled and there is even a fire extinguisher at a central location between the cabin and camp spots. Its a beautiful location and you could tell it was thoughtfully planned as a camp spot. I loved having the wheel barrows to help us set up camp, too. The only cons I would say would be the highway noise and the steep walk down to the sites. It's super nice to have Porta potties by the parking spots and it makes sense to have them there to routinely clean. But it is a walk to get there lol. But there are lights along the way which is very nice. Over all a beautiful area and a relaxing trip was had! Ty, Joshua

This place is absolutely amazing. Gorgeous little creek that has small cascading waterfalls all the way down. Short, but steep hike up to the cabin. Pack only the essentials. You were just a short driveway from Great restaurants and a grocery store would definitely stay here again 10 out of 10 recommend.

Weekend Trip to Retired DNR Fire Watch Cabin

This adorable cabin was perfect for our romantic 33rd anniversary weekend of hiking and huckleberry picking. The bed is soft and comfortable, the cabin is rustic but homey. Comfortable chairs outside and a propane grill that saved us from having to pack our own. There a shower, bathroom and fridge about 25 yards away. A coffee maker, microwave and air fryer are there to use if you want to eat dinner in. Trout Lake is one of our favorite places to visit - we've been coming up every huckleberry season for the past 20 years -- now we have a new favorite place to stay!

Weekend Trip to KLICKITAT VIEW CABIN

This place was lovely! We went so wee could go to the goldendale observatory to catch the meteor showers, and the stars out there are incredible. We also got some pastries at the Greek Orthodox Bakery which were delicious, and checked out the Stonehenge and the Maryhill art museum along with exploring more spots along the Columbia. There’s so much to see here! I love how they have set it up. When we stayed it was a hot weekend (105 degrees!) and so I’m so glad we stayed here instead of in a tent, the bed and the couch were comfortable, there was everything we needed inside and it cooled down enough at night with the windows open (yay for screens on the windows for bugs!) that we could all sleep! I’ve already recommended this beautiful spot to some family and friends.
