The Snowden Yurt was built by Tova's uncle Kirk and originally used as a backcountry ski destination in the Sawtooth Mountains near Stanley, Idaho. Our backyard might be the most serene you've ever been to! Eight acres of meadow and forest, surrounded by orchards, fields, and the roaring White Salmon River is the getaway that surrounds you with nature. Our 20' RV Spot with water spigot and electric plug-in is located about 100 yards from the river's edge.
To enhance everyone's comfort level, we have two plumbed restroom buildings and an outdoor kitchen. Our kitchen has a microwave, refrigerator/freezer, toaster, coffee maker, electric skillet, 3 propane skillets and a grill, blender, cooking utensils, sink with running water, breakfast table, and extra seating. There is a large meadow with two propane fire pits - and of course, heckling the rafters and kayakers from the riverbank is probably the best entertainment! They love waving and yelling "helllooooo" back!
The property is only 15 minutes from Hood River (to the south) and about 20 from Trout Lake (to the north). Outdoor activities are endless in the Columbia Gorge - a white water excursion down the White Salmon, local wine tastings and tours, waterfall hikes, and of course, watching the activities happening everyday at the Hood River Event Site.
Unfortunately, I do not allow pets. I'm sorry!!! We have our own dogs/cats/ducks/chickens who live here and I don't want to risk any unwelcome interactions. I try to keep the dogs at our house when we have guests but should they come down to the meadow for a visit, please know that much like the cats, they are super friendly and love to hang out.
While we are located on the river, I do not allow put-ins or dips from our property due to safety risk and our liability insurance - the current is quite strong and the water is glacier-cold. There is a kayak/raft drop-in at BZ Corners, a quick 3 mile drive up the road from us, or at Northwestern Park which is just down the road from us, and there are swimming holes all over the Gorge (just not right here!) Please do not venture past the rock divider at the edge of the riverbank, as doing so could subject you to poison oak that lives along the river's edge.

Dishes are not included and cooking utensils are very limited.
Winter sports galore up here right now! Cross country skiing, snow shoeing, ample parking for snow mobile trailers! OR bring your favorite book and come enjoy a peaceful restful weekend!
Springtime is a gorgeous time of year up here and turkey season is a favorite! Ample room for boats/trailers if you are considering hitting Drano lake for some springer salmon fishing! It is apx 30 minutes away.
In the summertime come up and enjoy the hiking! Sleeping Beauty trail is just a few minutes away and you are within 30 minutes or Hood River if you are looking to explore and check out wineries. There are cheese caves, ice caves, Goose Lake, Council Lake and so much more!
Fall is one of my favorite seasons! Hood River fishery has been amazing and the fall colors can't be beat!
There is a fire pit and campfires are welcome when there is not a burn ban.
Trout Lake Inn is a local favorite up here and check their Facebook to see what live entertainment they have coming up.
Pets are welcome - please make sure they are well behaved and are kept close to the cabin. I do have my own friendly dogs (Ruby and Muskett) on the property, but they do not have access to the cabin area.
Come enjoy the mountain air - it is good for the soul!

This small 25-acre ranch is just in the early stages of development. We are repairing fences and watering. I just added solar power and several electrical upgrades for RV's. The property has a 2000 feet of grass runway with an airplane hangar, so you could fly it if you have a STOHL airplane.
The irrigation pond/pond yard area is currently available for camping.
Many wineries, brewies and outdoor activities available in the area. Children can help feed or water the pigs and perhaps the chickens. Be aware though when piglets are around at times they are very small and are amazing escaped artists so do not keep food out unless you want to try and pet one they are friendly. We are more than happy to help suggest wineries and brewies in the area or enjoy the bar area we have!
We offer several campsites as well as an in-ground greenhouse as listings.
Guests love staying with us: "The pond at Willow Barn Ranch was picturesque. Show us around the property. It's very quiet and peaceful, and you can tell you take good care of your land. We live in a beautiful location! The main attraction are the outdoors. The large Ponderosa and Oak treed forest engulf the safari tent with the smell of what some say smells like vanilla. Birds are chirping, deer grazing and squirrels gathering. Sit on the porch and watch it all happen. It truly is relaxing!
I want to mention the STARGAZING here is amazing! Just push the power button on the backside of the solar panel for the lights, and it will turn them off for a better view of the night sky. Please turn them back on, if you remember.

Weekend Trip to Lefever Holbrook Ranch
My wife, our dog, and I had a great stay at Paulette's beautiful ranch. Spring's a lovely time to visit since the wildflowers are exploding. The meadows were full of vibrant purple and yellow, and our dog loved playing in the fields! We drove right up to the lookout, which was really convenient. The space itself is quaint and beautifully preserved. It was nice meeting Paulette and learning about the lookout's history.
This was our first time staying in one and it felt magical. If conditions are good, I definitely recommend checking out the Goldendale Observatory for some stargazing. We can't wait to come back, maybe next time in the summer or fall to see how the landscape changes. Thanks for everything!

My partner and I had such a blissful time at the Fern tiny house. The outdoor shower and sauna made this trip extra dreamy and luxurious. The bed was so comfortable. We both slept so well. The cabin had everything we needed and was designed so cleverly to make functional use of a small space. My partner who was nervous about using a composting toilet for the first time was pleasantly surprised about how it didn't stink at all. Now they want one a home! We had fun exploring the trails and spending time by the river. The hosts were very quick to respond to questions we had during our stay. We'll definitely be coming back to this spot!

What a delightful getaway! My favorite part was falling asleep in the very comfortable bed, while listening to the owls' soft hooting and the wood crackling in the fire inside. The yurt has all the homey amenities, while being off-grid, making it a great way to ease into the camping season. The only thing I didn't really expect was that it would take a good 12 or 15 minutes to reach the yurt from Lyle due to the long (although scenic) gravel road to get there. With that in mind, I'd recommend planning most of the time at the yurt. I had other hikes in mind, so I don't feel like I had *enough* time to just relax at the yurt. I'll just have to go back!

Weekend Trip to The Snowden Yurt
We couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay while we were out in White Salmon and Mt. Hood! Richard and his family were so hospitable, kind and responsive to anything we needed. The yurt was perfect, everything was set up, clean and ready to go. They even had water for us to drink from their well so no worries on having your potable water with you. All cooking supplies were included and they kept us warm with heating options. Showering was great to have after being on trails all day and Richard made it easy to access and use all the amenities. We had a great stay and will absolutely stay here when we come back if it’s available. It’s tucked away just right with quick access to the town and everything you’d need.

Loved the tree house! We had a great stay. It has everything that you would need for a night out in the woods. We would stay again for sure. The only things not in the listing that may be worth sharing:
- there are no shades, so do not plan to sleep in
-the water for the shower is heated, but not quite warm for a Spring evening
-the treehouse is VERY well made. The construction quality is worth noting.
-it is hard to distinguish property lines. We took a good walk, but tried to steer clear of what is obviously someone else’s land
- a family of about seven deer share the space. So cute!
-at night, there are hundreds of red lights down the hill from the windmills, which was kind of cool

Weekend Trip to WindWoodRivers
Fern Ridge was an amazing space. A great view of forest and the sounds of the river at your doorstep. The beds were comfortable and the bedding was cozy. No need to feel intimidated by the composting toilet- it’s easy! Kitchen was great with any pots and pans, etc. that you may need. Faith was great to communicate with- very accommodating! The hike to the river was wonderfully scenic. Loved it!

Beatiful and secluded spot for the treehouse with mountain vistas! Very cozy and well accomodated, even in the chilly early spring nights. Host was very good with communication and answering any questions. Definitely Recommend!
