The house is fully air conditioned and heated, has all the amenities of home, but takes you back to a simpler time. Our campsites are all set apart from one another in various locations on the 240 acre farm. Secluded and unique, each campsite has its own charm. We provide guests with a fire ring and a shovel, and some sites have a picnic table. Hiking trails are marked throughout the land. Lay back and enjoy watching the clouds go by and seeing the rustling of the trees in the wind through our 5 foot dome. At night stare up at the stars as you fall asleep on your full sized queen beds with memory foam mattresses. The main floor offers a very spacious living area with in floor radiant heat system to keep you toasty warm in the winter. The space also includes a mini-split unit that offers additional heating as well as A/C in the summer months. A pull out couch is provided to accommodate any extra guest. The living area is open to the beautiful kitchen with custom made cabinets and rustic center island constructed out of old salvaged barn beams. The large marble island top provides ample space for food prep and dining. Our kitchen has all full sized appliances with large farm sink, full sized French door fridge and a convection oven. The kitchen is stocked with all the basics you would need to prepare simple dishes including cooking oil, spices, flour, sugar, basic cookware and baking utensils. A Keurig coffee machine and pods are provided as well as a drip machine with ground coffee. Our bathroom provides every convenience and luxury during your stay. A large 6 foot walk-in shower is spacious and inviting. Admire the custom built vanity also constructed from salvaged barn beams. A full sized washer and dryer are located in the nook of the bathroom and guests are welcome to use throughout their stay. Our main floor also includes the master bedroom complete with full sized queen bed with memory foam mattresses, Storage ottoman and TV. As you make your way out the back door you will find a little oasis awaiting. Our patio area provides privacy and the opportunity to relax in nature. We host many visitors including tours and events. An on farm market is available to visitors for purchase of our products including grass-fed beef, maple syrup, and fruits and vegetables. The cabin was built using wood from the farm. It has off-grid electricity meaning it is powered by batteries charged by solar panels. There is not sufficient power for devices with a heating element such as coffee makers and hair dryers. You may charge cell phones. For any other use, please check with the owner. Wild Life. There is an abundance of wildlife to be observed on the farm. Deer can be seen at dusk, raccoons can be seen going through your camp food at night (if you put it in your car), turkeys, hawks, vultures, rabbits, coyotes (heard screaming at night), frogs (especially heard at night), fish (jumping), and many song birds (my favorite, the bobolink, May and June only, nesting in the pastures). We offer 1 RV site with electric and water that overlooks the bottomland and crop fields and multiple tent sites along the creek. Potable water is available at the farm. Whether you're drawn to the hum of tractors in the field, baling hay in the summer sun or the daily rhythms of feeding livestock, you're invited to join in, or simply take it all in. Our pastures are home to Purebred Charolais and Angus/Simmental cattle, a contract hog growing operation and free-range poultry which provide fresh eggs daily. We also cultivate soybeans, field corn and occasionally popcorn, which we're happy to share with you during your stay. Guests are welcome to pitch in with chores like feeding the animals, collecting eggs, and unloading hay, or just relax and soak up the peace and quiet of the countryside. Cast a line in the Wakatomika, hike our creekside trail and keep an eye out for our resident bald eagles soaring overhead. You may even catch a glimpse of an Amish neighbor's buggy passing by. Muskingum County is known for exceptional trophy deer and hunting opportunities are available for those interested. During your visit you'll have the chance to purchase farm-raised beef, fresh eggs, local honey, homemade soap, beeswax wraps and vanilla and even firewood for your campfire. We charge by the carload & there are different rates for driving back toward the woods for camping depending on the number of wheels & the weight of your vehicle (a factor on the wear & tear on the land). We believe in going outside to play, growing & eating fresh food, strengthening family bonds and promoting the awareness of our natural resources. PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING: 1) The speed limit is 5 mph as soon as you enter the property (kids & dogs are quick to dart in front of you). 2) As a state registered campground, it is mandatory that you check in at the house to fill out a Registration Form before heading to your campsite. 3) No glass allowed anywhere on the property (we don't want our feet or paws cut open and can do without flat tires). 4) Children under 18 must be attended to at all times for their safety (the frog pool is 10' deep, the pond is 8-10' deep depending on rains, and the creek can turn into a churning river). Weekend Trip to Woody Acres

A nice Hipcamp done exceptionally well. The Stargazer site is next to the owners driveway but don’t let that stop you. Their property is quiet and peaceful with well maintained walking trails and a great privy. We had a wonderful stay and enjoyed talking with the owners and getting to visit with their cat. It was a perfect evening in a location with many parks in the area.

Weekend Trip to The Lake at the Flying J Farm

I've stayed at Flying J now 5+ times, and have stayed at sites 1, 3, 4, 5, and 6. The only one I wouldn't choose again is 3, as it's the site right in the open by the boat dock (as Richard clearly describes in the site profile). Site 1, 5, and 6 are all great sites in the woods. 1 and 5 have nice lake views, and 6 is up on a little bluff with farther views of the lake through the trees. Site 4 is the one you cannot drive to as it's across a small earthen dam. It's got more of an open view of the lake than sites 1, 5, and 6. Again, all the sites are great and Richard is an awesome host!

What a great place. So much to explore. I enjoyed it greatly. The cabin is cozy, and there are acres of privacy; the scenary is beautiful. There is plenty of space inside the cabin for people to walk around, get comfy, and eat a hearty meal. The upstairs has 2 beds that are at queen-sized. There are plenty of books and DVD movies, a wall-mounted TV, 2 big sofas (3 seat and 2 seat), a massive bean bag, and a dining table. The restroom includes a toilet, sink, bathtub shower, and a washer and dryer. The kitchen has a mini fridge with a freezer, dual sink, microwave, gas stove, coffee maker, toaster, and plenty of pots, pans, and dishware. There is plenty of heat to keep you warm in the wintertime. The place is very clean - vacuums included. Wi-fi and cell phone signals are not really accessable at the United Cabin but they are at the host's home property, which is a 3 min drive away. Nearby, there is a small pond, a cornfield, plenty of hills, and forests with trails. Thank you Michelle and PJ for sharing your Cabin with us.

Great site- all the basic needs met. Electric and water hookup. Close to campus/ Athens. Was able to pull up next to a cement slab, which was great since it rained all weekend. Road was close but couldn’t hear traffic inside our camper. Well maintained spot. Definitely plan to come back a few times a year while kid is at OU!!

We stayed at the A-frame this past weekend and absolutely loved it! The place was super clean and had literally everything we needed (we definitely overpacked 😅). There was plenty of firewood for us, which made hanging out by the fire so nice. PJ was awesome — super friendly, available if you need anything, and honestly willing to go the extra mile to make sure your stay is perfect. When we arrived, a few lights weren’t working, and he was super concerned it might ruin our stay. He even offered to come fix them right away, but it really wasn’t an issue for us at all. We also loved that we could bring our dogs! They had the best time running around off leash and exploring. Cell service isn’t great out there, but honestly, that was exactly what we needed — the perfect little disconnect. This was our first time using the Hipcamp app, and it couldn’t have been a better experience. We’d 100% come back again!

Weekend Trip to The Turkey Hollow Campground

Some of the reviews are overly critical of Matt's camping area. The campgrounds are easy to get to, with improved gravel roads. The road leading to his land is mostly paved, but only one way. The 4x4 camp sites are well marked. I had no issue getting my pop-up camper in and out from one of the close to the road spaces. Kermit's bottom did require 4x4 when climbing the gravel hill. He clearly states this many times in the listing. All of that being said, the campground is peaceful, serene, and very colorful during the fall. Firewood is provided for a small fee, as well as a fire ring and picnic table. Close to town as well - you can get whatever you need within 10 minutes. Currently there are outdoor showers and a porta potty. I will definitely come back, and I'm sure it will only be a better experience.

I'll tell you, the pictures are great but they don't do justice to the peace and comfort this place brings. When we arrived the camp host told us to ask for anything we needed, and they held true to that. The property has tons of places to hike. Everything around you is gorgeous. The beds are comfy, and the cabin is warm. There's no wifi or cellular signal, which was a benefit in my opinion.

It’s an awesome little camp ground! Nice swim/fishing pond, an outlet to charge a phone, outdoor showers with a propane water heater, firewood available and a porta potty. The property was really pretty! Walked the creek bed to see some cool rock formations, bunch of wildlife and had owls hooting to wake us up both mornings. 2nd time there now, I will visit again! I walked past the cabins while I was there also, definitely want to rent one of those, they look really nice.

Weekend Trip to Cherokee Valley Bison Ranch Creekside Retreat

We booked the Bison Tipi Retreat for a last minute, late season trip to Nether’s Flint Quarry and I am so glad we did! The property is beautiful and unique to most stays one may find. We really enjoyed watching the bison eat by the light of the moon and hearing the creek that is nearby. The kitchen supplies were adequate for cooking our meals. The tipi was roomy. The camp toilet was clean and had no smell. We are already talking about a trip here next year! This was a great break from the hustle of everyday life.
