Tranquility at its most natural
The campground, while a bit off the beaten path, was awesome. The grounds were very clean and the area around it was very scenic! So quiet and peaceful!

Great spot!
It was the perfect, secluded spot that exceeded our expectations. When we were there, there was only one other group at the site. Carl was a great host, and made sure we knew where everything was and that we had what we needed. Not only were the spots open and flat, there was a bathroom, shower, AND wifi at the camp! We were only there one night as were travelled home, but it was a great quiet campground to help us recharge before the final leg of the journey. Definitely worth the visit.

We were very comfortable in cabin 1
Walkabout Creek is very quiet, the cabins are private, on a large treed lot with water running through. The cabin has many amenities, we really appreciated the coffee maker and the bedding supplied. The Wi-Fi in the cabin is terrific. Carl is very helpful and will share knowledge, chairs and provide whatever you need. The camp cat is a snuggler.

Beautiful property perfect for a peaceful getaway! Cabin has everything you need, even the bed is very comfortable. Grounds are perfect for exploring and even though not far from town you still feel like you’re in the middle of nature all by yourself!

Site 12 - WALKAbOUT Creek Electric
The private location was great, the welcome staff was warm and informative, and we really appreciated Carl coming by to personally welcome us. We also appreciated the flexibility to move to another space that had shade! Can't give it a "great" rating however -- we wish the bathroom was 1. labelled (we had trouble finding it!) --even a simple sign would suffice and 2. VENTILATED and ideally, air-conditioned. It was SO hot and stuffy and humid inside, it made the shower feel almost worthless.

Quiet and Relaxing
We love it here! This is our second time staying at Walkabout, and the kids had a great time. We stayed in a cabin that was well maintained and secluded but still close to restrooms and the shelter house. The land is beautiful and quiet, and it was easy to visit the state park nearby.

Wonderful experience!
Really enjoyed camping at WalkAbout Creek. The cabinet was very cozy, but had plenty of room for everything. It was quiet and secluded. Carl is very kind and accommodating. Wifi, air conditioning, ceiling fan, and the bathroom with a shower are really great features. Enjoyed fishing in the pond. I would definitely go back!

Cabin 1 is just as described. Large private area away from the RV’s. Be aware that there are raccoons that will come to the front porch to look for food at night.

Great weekend away!
Staying in one of Carl’s cabins was amazing, aside from the weekend full of rain we had a great time. Cabin was clean and just as listed, site was large and great for camping with your furry friends. Was a great host willing to help with anything, there are a lot of great activities in the area. We will for sure be making a return trip.

Quiet and well kept, a cozy getaway
The grounds are beautiful and the cabin was cozy. Overall, it was a nice weekend away, and we would definitely stay here again! The host Carl is very friendly and even brought us pancakes one morning! The campground was nice and quiet, and I liked that the cabin was tucked away, and we had our own bathroom right outside. The heater in the cabin kept us nice and warm, and it was nice having the little fridge, microwave, and coffee pot.

We had a great overnight in the smaller cabin. Everything was exceptionally clean and there were more accomodations than expected (microwave, mini fridge, coffee pot). The cabins are wonderfully wooded and secluded. Carl made sure we had everything we needed, even pancakes in the morning! We would 100% stay here again.

Great cabin, great host!
We loved our stay during October Fest! The cabin was very cute! Something the listing didn’t say was that there was a refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, and toaster in the cabin! Also a fan, ac and heat. Carl and his family were so great! They even had pancakes, juice, and coffee for everyone in the morning. My kids had such a great time they wants to stay for “100 years”!

Great new place
Carl was friendly, generous and helpful. He greeted us with maps and info about nearby parks and forests. The place is well taken care of and he is developing great infrastructure. Site was spacious. Not much shade so it could be hot in summertime. It was way to find.

Our stay here was so lovely! Carl was very welcoming and accommodating. He made sure we felt comfortable and had everything we needed. The cabin was clean and beautiful with all the essentials! The bed’s were comfy too. We really enjoyed spending time with the cat that roams the grounds and were very amused with the mannequin that moved to a different location everyday. My friend was a little spooked but I thought it was hilarious. We would definitely come back!

peaceful meadow setting
Beautiful location in the middle of the Blue Rock state forest-- a remote yet not too far away place that I had never even heard of in spite of growing up in Columbus. Nice and spacious tent sites on one side of a lane and trailers on the other side, along the length a long and wide meadow edged by wooded ridges--a spot great for star gazing, hanging around the campfire, etc., and the state forest is a good hiking spot, with nice old walnut, hickory, tulip poplar, oak, and sycamore stands and well-tended trails as far as I could tell. You have an excellent host in friendly and informative Carl, who has recently acquired the old campground and is steadily rejuvenating the place. There are already enough amenities to make for a good weekend camping (or horsing or hunting) trip--and I believe Carl will be providing more.

Peaceful getaway
It was very peaceful. The host was helpful and always willing to lend a hand. The cabin was clean and tucked back away from everything. Nice view of the stars on a clear night and close to hiking trails. I’d totally go back. Oh! There’s also a fenced in area for dogs to run around. My dog was living his best life there.

Okay
Camp has good potential. Be aware it is currently a rustic campground. No bathrooms or picnic tables. However, very quiet but no extras but a camping spot.
