Established in 1983 on a 60-acre plot of land right in the Shawnee State Forest. The property is beautiful with flat land, fields, and at the back are the foot hills of the Appalachian Mountains. We put a horse farm on the land in 2000. The horses here are my family and I want to expand and offer more opportunities on the land. That's when I came across Hipcamp! The Viking longhall has been 9 years in the making by a group of semi serious Viking enthusiasts: the result is a 60 foot long building that has 18, 8,x4' sleeping berths. Set apart from the main open area it also boasts 2 meeting rooms and a kitchen.
The campsite is a very peaceful place. Some go as far as to say a healing place! We are proud of what we have achieved and now want people to come out and enjoy it also.
The field is close enough to the Appalachian highway (state route 32) for convenience, but far enough not to be bothered by it. The area is steeped in Native American culture. In fact, the world famous Serpent Mound is but 8 miles away, with many other Adena culture sites within easy driving distance. It's also in the heart of the Amish community. The area is known for its natural beauty with many hiking trails and canoeing opportunities.
The area is awash in beauty and history from the ancient mound culture to the amish culture. The area has many hiking trails some of which are part of the buckeye trail and range in length from an easy 1 mile loop to rugged hikes of many miles.

This is a camping cabin, in the middle of the Daniel Boone National Forest. If you are into primitive camping and living, then this is the right place for you! Many types of wildlife and critters may be encountered during your camping adventure. Deer, turkey, squirrel, snakes of different types, and lots of wood bugs inhabit the woods. We are about 85 acres, surrounded by hundreds of acres of national Forest, located about 2 minutes from the Sheltowee Trail, and approximately 30 minutes away from Cave Run Lake, and 30 minutes from Carter Caves State Park.
The cabin is off grid, but has a generator for heat and Air conditioning. The outside toilet is close to the cabin and has a "Wash up" area. There is also an outdoor shower on the property just a short walk away, down behind the host's garage, that features hot water.
A great place to relax and detach from the stress of society for a few days, or hike, hunt, or head over to Cave Run Lake for some fishing.

Great hiking, kayaking, biking, birding, fishing, swimming, and disc-golfing opportunities just a few miles away at Paint Creek State Park and the Highland Nature Sanctuary. Our accommodations range from primitive tent-camping to "glamping" in one of our tiny off-grid cabins. The sites are spaced out for privacy and each site offers a private picnic table and fire pit. There are two shared privies/outhouses which have basic composting toilets (not flushing). A grassy parking area is provided near the road, however, ALL SITES ARE WALK-IN (with the exception of site #1).
***Please take note that this is private property and the host lives on site. If you are looking for a place to be loud and party into the night, this is not the place for you. If you are looking to spend some quality time in nature, welcome. There are rules.

Located in Boyd County, Ky (less than two miles from US 23), our 50 acres are on a one-lane, dead end road which makes for a peaceful, quiet night’s sleep under the stars and amongst the trees.
Our sites are completely primitive (no running water, no electricity, no sewer) hike-in or 4WD accessible only, in several locations on the hills behind our residence. Potable water (2.6 gallons in a jug with spout) and portable toilet in privacy tent, or shelter, provided. *Permanent privacy shelter on two out of three sites*
All sites are ideal for tent campers, overlanding-style rigs, or possibly a small, off- road trailer/camper, with fire ring and firewood provided at each site. You will have access to all trails (for hiking only) and shared access to the fishing pond (Catch and Release only at this time). There are plenty of trees for shade, hammocks, etc. There is also an abundance of wildlife: Birds, deer, turkeys, rabbits, squirrels, bobcats, coyotes, and even an occasional black bear.
Large firepit at pond for socializing, if desired (Quiet time from 10pm to 8am as a courtesy to other campers).
We are pet friendly as well as off-leash friendly (on leash on trails or pond area if not friendly). *We do have two off-leash dogs on our property as well*

This was our second time camping here and it was even better than the first! My son loves it here. We stayed for 2 days. Beth helped transport all of our things in the UTV which was so helpful! We walked the creek and the trails. Played frisbee, made yummy food and made memories. I really loved seeing all of the wildflowers on my walk. Beth is very hospitable and kept us with a freshly powered Jackery so that my son could sleep with his heated blanket. Her dogs are the sweetest, and we got to experience nature in every sense of the word. It really is a special place.

We were a group of moms on a long weekend getaway, and Fruitdale Farm couldn’t have been a better choice. This cabin is so full of sunlight and cheer. It’s well-appointed with the things you’ll need, and the private deck overlooking the pond is such a peaceful place to relax and connect. We enjoyed wandering on the trails on the farm and hiking on nearby Arc of Appalachia trails.

Charming, well kept, lots of really nice touches. We camped at Site #1 in a pop-up and we're blessed with a very level area. A picnic table and fire ring were included and in excellent condition. The Koi pond was a relaxing spot a short walk from the hilltop. We walked the groomed nature trail, enjoyed a sauna, and purchased two dozen very nice farm-fresh eggs. I cannot think of a thing missing. Honestly, Fruitdale Farm has it all for a relaxing camp with room to roam.

Beth and Brian are wonderful! The campsite is well maintained, the wood bundles they offer are generous, theres plenty of trails to hike on the property, and its so peaceful and quiet here. My favorite part was making breakfast in the morning and hearing their sheep bleat in the distance. Very relaxing spot for a weekend getaway. Don't forget they offer UTV hauling to and from the campsite! Its a decent hike so I'd recommend it if you're a bit of an over packer like myself and my friends!

Had an absolutely beautiful stay here! We only stayed for a night which was not nearly long enough to fully appreciate the tranquility and beauty of the place. David was an amazing host, left firewood at the tent site, offered us beef stew at night and coffee in the morning, and even explained how we could build a better fire with some fire starters he left us. The tent site had enough privacy to still feel fully immersed in nature even with other campers nearby. Lots of birds and butterflies. We will definitely be back and feel like we got a full escape and recharge from the chaos of the world. Best sleep I’ve ever had.

We had a great stay overall. The Viking long hall was definitely a standout—such a unique and memorable feature that really sets this place apart.
David and Iveagh were very kind and welcoming, and made it clear they were available if we needed anything. As experienced campers we didn’t need much assistance, but it was appreciated knowing they were there.
The available hot shower and water were a great accommodation and definitely added to the comfort of the stay.
The campsites are not on top of each other, but they aren’t very dispersed either. If you’re looking for a more private, spread-out experience, this may not be the best fit. Regardless, we felt nothing but welcome and accommodated.
Overall, a really cool spot with a lot of character. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to others looking for something a little different.

Fruitdale Farm is a thoughtful and artistically established working farmstead/ camping spot working in full harmony with raw nature. It appears to be organic and regenerative. It’s definitely a haul from where you park your car to the tent site so I highly suggest you pack lightly but once you get there, it’s a really nice spot in the woods with everything you need. Also, definitely follow the directions provided as Google maps will try to take you down a road that has closed. We were only there one night and did not have time to explore the trails but looks pretty neat. Could see one coming from the campsite going off into the woods and the grassy hill before you get to the campsite looks to be a good spot to see the stars on a clear night.
