This was an awesome little chunk of heaven for the weekend! The fire pit, grill, prep tables and picnic table already at the site were perfect for my family’s event. Directions to the spot were super easy to follow. We had a few dogs with us as well and it was great being able to let them explore.

2 nights at Infinity Acres Ranch

Actually we were moved to the Lakeside Campsite based on our needs and Laura's recommendation. Thank you. Laura and Rick were fantastic hosts, they don't come any better. From the time we arrived, to the time we left, we were made to feel at home. The campsite was clean and very scenic. The animals were amazing, each with their own personality. Laura and Rick do amazing things for the animals in their care, as well as the interactive experiences with schools, special needs children, nursing homes, and churches. If you have the time, a Llama walk through their trails will restore your soul. It truly felt like staying in Narnia. Greatly recommend staying at Infinity Acres, we will be back soon.

We really enjoyed our stay at Hippie Hollow. Jeremy was super friendly and made us feel very welcome. He is doing a great job of slowly building a fun and friendly camping community.

Jeremy is such a nice, interesting individual. His vision for the property is amazing, and we look forward to circling to back to watch it grow. Our stay was comfortable and laid back; we felt welcome and safe but had space to experience the land and creek on our own time. A generous and flexible host, and a perfect stop if you’re wanting to explore Floyd. Extra credit for the sweet dogs and family of ducks. The proximity to a somewhat busy road is something to consider if you’re seeking isolation, but it wasn’t an issue for us at all.

2 nights at Camp The New River, Blacksburg, VA

Fantastic camping spot! Beautiful and quiet with river access and a dock. There were lawn chairs and cooking utensils which I didn't expect but between the fire pits with grates and the picnic grill you can cook about anything. The ground is level with lots of grass and room for several tents if you want to group camp. The hosts are fantastic. The husband introduced himself first afternoon and asked if I wanted firewood. You can bring your own but I didn't have any way to do that. The $30 scoop of firewood was huge! The weather changed and I ended up leaving a night early with firewood left. The host refunded my firewood without being asked. I would never have expected that but it was appreciated. I can't wait to go back when it's hot enough to get in the river!

Perfect spring location along the New River, with a dock right off the tent site. Read a book as the water lazily flowed by and slipped back in time.

Jeremy is an amazing host with a great vision. The spot by the creek he is creating is a gem. It has rained for days so the ground was soggy. We weren't gonna make it to camp before the show we were checking out at the Floyd country store so he made a little video of the least muddy spot. Pulled in and a full moon greeted us over the creek where the sun rose in the AM. 2 minutes from Floyd! Such a great spot and Super host. Thanks for making us feel welcomed.

Wonderful little spot with creek nearby. You can fall asleep, listening to the running water, enjoy the beautiful trees, and surrounding landscape. Wonderful little oasis really enjoyed my stay. Had an unexpected burst of rain in the morning had to pack up quicker than I wanted. Would recommend and plan to stay again.

James's spot is beautiful, private and quiet. There are two fire pits and the little creek running by is perfect. We loved our time here.

Rouge Trout camp was the perfect location for our annual fishing trip. The owners were super easy to communicate with and very helpful. We had a group of 12 and prefer and campground not near all the lights and generators of a public campgrounds. We caught a good number of trout right from the property. Well most definitely be back.

Weekend Trip to Rivers Edge Trail Camp

One of that most peaceful beautiful sites we’ve ever stayed at. Close proximity to the New River Trail (which is why we chose this spot) however other than the bike ride on the Nee River trail we never left. Cannot think of the last time that has happened. Full hookups with great water pressure and such a serene view. Already looking to book again! Thank you for sharing a piece of your beautiful property with us.

Site 5 was great, with easy access into the stream. We could see our neighbors to the left, but I imagine you might have more privacy when the trees are fuller. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and will be back to check out some other sites in the future!

Staying in the Tee Pee was so much fun! There was no electricity ( which we knew in advance) no a hike to the bathroom/ shower making it feel like you were in the wilderness The weather was great , the host was available if needed Recommend bringing the little ones, they would have a great time

Camp at Falls Ridge Nature Preserve

Enjoy a relaxing retreat on a historic, riverfront property on a gorgeous nature preserve tucked away in the Blue Ridge Mountains! Located only 15 minutes from Virginia Tech, you’ll feel like you’re in another world. Our historic property dates back centuries. It was once a whistle stop for the railroad that still runs through it (Don’t worry! They don’t blow the train whistle!) and operated as a mill, general store, cannery, post office, and more. The property is adjacent to the Falls Ridge Nature Preserve, a hidden gem with miles of hiking trails, including waterfalls and caves. (Please note: the Nature Conservancy has temporarily closed Falls Ridge Nature Preserve for regrowth and repair after an extended period of high visitation and overuse during Covid. Check their website for latest info). Your campsite can be either in the back or the side of the cabin. We have a toilet and sink available but no shower. We also offer laundry for $5, and can accommodate large bedding items. We live at the front of the property in an 1830s log cabin we are fixing up. We can socialize or leave you alone, completely up to you! We have 2.5 acres adjacent to Falls Ridge Nature Preserve, situated on the North Fork of the Roanoke River. Please check the Preserve's website before booking as they have been temporarily closed for some post-lockdown regrowth. There are multiple hiking trails, caves, and waterfalls to enjoy. You can fish and wade and when the water is high enough, kayak. We are fifteen minutes from Blacksburg or Christiansburg and thirty minutes from McAfee's Knob (the most photographed spot on the Appalachian Trail). We offer kayak and float rentals for $10 each (we have two kayaks and floats to accommodate six). We can drive you to the New River for an excellent float or a more serious kayak with rapids for $30. We also can create VT tailgating packages, s'mores kits, Appalachian Trail slackpacking adventures, picnics and just about anything else you may want for an additional fee. Just ask! We are thirty minutes from the Appalachian Trail and Virginia's Triple Crown (McAfee's Knob, Dragon's Tooth, and Tinker Cliffs) as well as The Cascades and Jefferson National Forest. RV'ers: please note we have a small bridge that may be challenging for larger sizes. Moving vans and UPS trucks cross it no problem but longer vehicles may not want to consider it.

The Big Pond

The Big Pond is a 5-site campground on a 20-acre old farm in SW Virginia with a pond, a creek, rolling pastures, and a number of quaint buildings. We fell in love with the area, its people, the music, and the beautiful scenery a long time ago. We bought the Big Pond in 2021, with the idea to start a small campground catering to campers who share our love for nature, bicycling, mountain music, and a laid-back lifestyle (people drive the speed limit here!). This farm was developed in 1920, and had a small neighborhood store, and a number of structures such as a fish house, a spring house, and a big barn. We made the house livable, and are slowly reclaiming the other buildings. The pond is spring-fed, and also gets water from the Glade Creek, which borders the east side of the property. Our biggest surprise the first summer we owned the Big Pond was the huge variety of wild flowers and song birds. Our guests can walk the perimeter of the property, and enjoy the views from the highest point, the creek, the flowers, and the pond. If you want to make (acoustic) music, you can do so, and maybe we'll even join you in the gazebo at the pond!

IRON Peak Ranch

We have traced this farm's history back to the 1750's when a mill was built on Reed Creek. There is a log home that we know that was built in 1840 still on the premises. The white farm house across from the camp sites was built in 1877. The fish hatchery that is still in operation today was built by the Federal Government in 1923. Learn more about this land: Camp site situated along 3 separate creeks connected by one large private 11 acre field. Tate Run/ Reed Creek/ Venrick Run. The farm house is across the road and the whole property comprises of 88 acres of woods and pasature. The farm house was built in 1877 and the Ranch currently operates with 30 head of cattle and a working trout hatchery. We have traced this farm lineage back to the 1750's when a mill was constructed at the meeting of Tate Run and Reed Creek by Swiss Immigrant Henry Grubb. Camping here along Reed Creek is peaceful and quiet. Located just a few short miles from town it is easy to get to ...but a long way from the world at large. There are a few restaurants close by and we are only 6 miles from downtown Mocksville. There are a lot of wineries and breweries within a 30 min drive from our property. We are about 15 minutes from river access to the Yadkin river for anyone looking to Kayak. There are lots of local fishing holes and places to go horseback riding. We are about an hour drive to lots of different hiking trails from pilot mountain, and hanging rock to the blue ridge parkway. We have 2 dogs that live here and will greet you at the gate. Please be respectful of the neighbors and drive slowly down the dirt road to our property to limit dust. We look forward to hosting your camping get away.

Newly constructed tiny home provides GLAMPING at its finest! The Liberty cabin shares a space with a few tent sites along the river. With the addition of Liberty, I have limited the number of campers to 4. (Exceptions may be made for holiday weekends). There is plenty of space for everyone and the cabin sits above the tent sites for amazing views and privacy. While HWY 16 can be a bit noisy during busy times, step into the campsites and let the peaceful noise-canceling river serenity whisk you away. Forest views across the river with endless fireflies and stars that light up the night! Zaloo's Canoes, Kayak, and Tubes is within eyesight and will set you up with an amazing float or paddle down river. Plentiful small mouth bass and trout fishing just steps from your site. Outhouse w/washing station. Fire pits at each site as well as a large communal fire pit and picnic tables. Downtown West Jefferson is just 15 minutes away with local breweries, quaint restaurants, coffee shops, bakeries, shopping, music, art, and a wonderful farmer's market from May - October. The quaint little town of Lansing, NC is quickly becoming a favorite stop of mine. Check out the Old Orchard Creek General Store, Pie on the Mountain Pizza, the Old Orchard Creek Blueberry Farm, and Molly Chomper for a perfect day in Ashe County. The New River State Park is an easy walk, float, paddle or drive away. This park is absolutely GORGEOUS and impeccably maintained, including hiking trails, public facilities, showers, boat launch and pick up, etc. Just a short drive to multiple Blue Ridge Parkway entry points for ease of access to Boone, Appalachian State University, Blowing Rock, Grandfather Mountain, Banner Elk, and the Linville Gorge. Mount Jefferson and Grayson Highlands are also just a short drive away for unlimited hiking and incredible mountain views. My personal favorite is hiking with the wild ponies at Grayson Highlands! We have Firewood available for a nominal fee. Just let us know and we will make arrangements to have it ready for you upon arrival. Please respect quiet hours between 10 PM and 8 AM each evening.
