PLEASE NOTE, our rate is based on the number of vehicles in your group. The first vehicle is included in the nightly rate and admits 4 campers. WE CHARGE FOR ADDITIONAL CARS. The charge will be added to your booking once you select the number of vehicles at checkout.
Please note that each additional car admits four campers. For EXAMPLE, 2 cars = 8 campers total. If you only have two cars but more than eight people, YOU MUST select the "Extra Person" Extra for each night they are camping. Please select these extras at checkout. If you have questions about this PLEASE message me prior to booking.
Our 95-acre farm was once owned by the Davis family who predominantly raised dairy cattle. We now raise the wooly Mangalitsa pig and sell to the best chefs and restaurants. We sell our pork at the farm too!
All of our campsites are next to running water except the two hilltop sites.
Two porta-potties are on the farm and private porta-potties are available for rent. Groups of eight or more are required to rent a porta potty should you not bring your own toilet system with you. We do not allow the use of our small wooded areas as toilets. No porta potties are provided b/tw Dec 15 and March 15
Please contact us in advance regarding paying for firewood ($7/5 pieces), dogs ($15 each), day vehicle visitors ($30), private farm tour ($15/person) and/or a private porta potty ($120). thank you!

We are 1 mile off of I 40, 17 minutes from the Blue Ridge Parkway, 15 min. to Maggie Valley, 10 min to the Elk at Cataloochee, 25 min to Cataloochee ski area, 10 min to Lake Junaluska and 15 min to downtown Waynesville. Asheville is 20 miles to our East.

Pisgah National Forest is just two miles away with plenty of hiking to explore. The charming town of Burnsville is just 10 miles on a beautiful, scenic highway. Homeplace Brewery, Birdfoot Taproom, Carriage House Sundries, and Snapdragon are among the local spots to visit. Asheville is also nearby at just under an hour’s drive.
The trail entrance to Big Butt is a couple miles away with a few great overlook points.

My parents bought the 120 acre property in the 1960s. I started clearing and building the campsite in 2019.
Watch the sun rise on one side of Troublesome Gap and watch it set on the other side. There is a circle drive for 2 teardrop / squaredrop or pop up campers and plenty of spots to pitch tents. There are also great spots to hang your hammock.
Camp where my family camps. My parents bought the property in the 1960s and we have camped up here, hiked, hunted, and cut firewood many weekends. We decided to share the property so you can enjoy camping up here too!
The property is in a remote location where you can enjoy the wildlife and the cooler temps in the summer. You'll have 3 acres all to yourself. The closest grocery store is an hour away but the Trust General Store with a restaurant and gas approximately is 7 miles away. There is also a burger joint (Dave's 209) on the way to the Trust General Store.
This camping site is in a remote area and the nearest neighbor about 1/2 mile away. Max Patch is about 25 minutes away and features beautiful hiking. The campsite is adjacent to a dirt road. There is some traffic on the road, usually less than 10 cars per day. If having cars drive by occassionally is an issue, then you may want to look at other campsites.
The quaint town of Marshall is about 30 minutes away. Asheville is about an hour away.
The campsite is easily accessible from Baltimore Branch Road. However Baltimore Brand Road and Big Pine Road (public road) are both steep in places. we don't recommend an RV bigger than a popup camper. If you are pulling a trailer you'll really want to consider having 4wd. If you aren't used to driving on steep dirt mountain roads, you may want to bring your 4wd vehicle. If you have a 2wd vehicle, we suggest coming to the site via Big Pine Road. This route will take you through Walnut, NC. If you aren't comfortable driving on steep, dirt, mountain roads, then maybe this isn't the spot for you. The roads to the campsite should be considered 4wd only from late fall through the winter.
We also provide a porta-a-john for your convenience. The porta-a-john gets serviced every 3-4 weeks so having a back up plan (maybe a luggable loo) is a good idea.
This is a campsite where have the whole 3.5 acre property to yourself. You are surrounded by properties that vary from 40 acres to over a hundred acres. This truly a remote property where you are up near the top of the mountain. You get the beauty, but you also get the wether extremes. If you are looking for a posh, curated experience where your every whim is catered to, then this isn't it.
We just want you to have a great time and bring home great stories. It seems like every visitor to Troublesome Gap has a great story. Come camp with us and build your own story.
Note: Water is only available on the site from Memorial Day through Labor Day, Otherwise you'll need to bring your own water.
There is a camera on the property. It faces the gate (and away from the campsite).

The site's (there's only one!) first appeal is the amazing view of Bull Mountain Ridge. Beautiful all year long, but particularly in late October when the leaves are in their richest colors. It feels private and tucked away, but is very accessible to all of what the Asheville area has to offer. Downtown is a 15 minute drive; ride services and shuttles are both easy to secure and quite affordable. The backdrop of the site is forested and easy to relax in - the understory is maintained for guest use, providing cooling shade with a stunning view.
I usually try to say hello to folks and make sure they get settled in alright, but let me know if you'd prefer just to come in and have privacy. Don't feel the need to come to the house unless you can't get a hold of me via text and you need assistance. I may not be available when you arrive, but I'll try to get back in touch with you as soon as I'm able.
**Please be aware that this section of North Carolina has a particularly large population of American black bears. Any food stuffs, or other "smell-ables" will potentially attract bears.

This site has a pull through, full hookup spot with 30amp for campers but tents are always welcome or a combination of the two. I've had a 33' camper, popup camper and 6 tents at this campsite all at the same time so there plenty of room for your family and friends!
We're 2.5 miles from the Cherokee Casino and 3.5 miles from down town Cherokee
If you're tired of crowded campgrounds then you'll love the privacy this campground offers. This is now a two site campground with each site being around 100' away from the other site with trees and vegetation growing in between, you more or less cant see on site from the other from May until November.
There is a orange cone that marks the border of the two sites. One set of campers will not be allowed on the other campers campsite, if this happens you will be evicted with no refund.
Check in is at 2pm and check out is at 12pm.
No shooting firearms, (although you may hear people shooting firearms because you will be camping in the mountains) but your more than welcome to bring your firearms. Its better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it.
No fireworks.
No making trails or collecting firewood (This is not because I want to sell you firewood, its because I want to have the property remain as pristine as possible)
Do not cut down trees alive or dead
If you move picnic tables please move them back
Dogs are permitted but message me first to see if your do will be a good fit.
There is a small Church around 200 yards from the campground. They hold services every Wednesday and Sunday. They generally start around 5pm and it lasts around a hour. If your into that they would love to have you come down.
The EBCI opened a dispensary around 3 miles from the campground. It will open to all adults over 21 starting September 7th 2024.

We absolutely love the waterfall site. Our 2nd time there. Our dog loved playing in the water. The waterfall is so serene. It totally refreshes our soul when we stay here. Will be back again next year!

We loved this spot! It had the perfect amount of amenities for our first time camping again after having our 3rd kid. The cabin was big enough to put a pack n play in, plus a sleeping pad on the floor (if needed). The bathroom was super clean, and the bed was very comfortable! The site was quiet, and we really enjoyed our time there. A few things to note; not bad, just info! The creek is very close, but you do have to walk to it/can’t see it from the cabin. We did let our older kids play in it unsupervised and could hear them/call them, but you couldn’t hear the creek while in the cabin or sitting by the fire (I love to fall asleep to the sound of a creek while camping!). Also, we found the land surrounding to be slightly more sloped than we expected so had a little difficulty setting up a tent on level ground.
We still really enjoyed our experience! Natalie and her husband were so kind, we loved seeing all the horses, and getting visits from their dog!

3 nights at Private Glamper/HOT TUB/MNTN VIEWS
My husband and I loved our stay in the cute little camper! However, be aware that it really is just big enough for 2 people. My husband is about 5' 9" and the bed was just big enough for him. That said, we thoroughly enjoyed our time! The space felt very private even though it was closer than we expected to the host's home. There is a fence, the camper and your own vehicle between their home and the space, so it felt very secluded in private. The outdoor shower was absolutely lovely, as was the fire pit and the hot tub! This was a perfect getaway for our twentieth anniversary without breaking the bank.

We had a great time at Troublesome Gap! Perfect site for a private mountain getaway. Beautiful star gazing, sunrises and sunsets. Felt so private, saw a handful of cars pass by over 3 days. There is so much to do in Hot Springs and Marshall NC if you’re looking for a good hike and a rewarding beer afterward. Definitely recommend.

Weekend Trip to Outercamp, Blue Ridge Falls Retreat
This site was great for a quick weekend getaway- everything you need is there. The bed was very nice and comfortable- we were comfortable, but there was a fan to cool it down and extra blankets for when its chilly. We felt very private and did not see anyone else. The listing is true about lots of spiders. Only negative/con- the dish sponge was very gross and used and dish soap was too watered down (I saw one negative review about this and wish I brought my own). There was a "cold plunge" near our site and when we walked over, there was 1' of pretty gross water. Would still stay there again!
