This camp site is epic !!! Clean , beautiful views all the way around the campsite . If you want a shaded campsite go for site #1 . Campsite #2 doesn’t have shade but you can not beat the views . Also make sure you have a 4 wheel drive . Thank you Peter for sharing this little piece of heaven with us and others .

We had a lovely weekend at site #1 and enjoyed the awesome sunset views. 4x4 is definitely a must to get up to the sites! The picnic table is a nice addition.

Definitely need a 4x4 low range to access but man what a hidden gem that was clean and views for days. Definitely an awesome spot i would love to use again. Sunset was the best. Quiet and clean.

This place is pretty cool. I've been there twice. Once in an 84 VW camper van. 9 inches of clearance, rear engine over the drive wheels, and I barely made it up the last little portion of the road/trail. The van probably didn't appreciate the beating too much. 2nd time I went up in my Subaru Outback and it was easy. Kind of feels like part of the adventure, but the 4x4 recommendation is a wise one. Great views from the top. Dark and quiet. Went up there for the Perseid Meteor Shower with my daughter and it was great.

Really enjoyed this site! It would be just a little bit nicer if it was cleared/trimmed down a little though. We had to fish the picnic table out of the wild grass and weeds lol but even still, so worth it! Directions were easy to follow, the views were incredible; will definitely return here!

perfect spot to hang our hammock. the view just up the trail was incredible. really private on its own ridge & so peaceful with the birds & so many butterflies!!

It was a great experience overall. Site 2 was pretty close to site 1. Thankfully no one booked site 1 but it would be not very private if another party had.
It's a beautiful spot but some of the pictures people who have stayed posted, can mislead a bit. The beautiful overlook with no trees and the cross are technically another property and Peter says so in the post. Thankfully no one was staying on the other property but if someone was then we wouldn't be able to walk over and enjoy the view.
That being said, the view was absolutely gorgeous. We saw the sunset and was amazing to see. Very thankful to see it. I just had a different impression coming in to this campsite and wanted to ensure people know.

The view is beautiful, but the area pictured with 360 views (and the cross) is someone else’s land, so technically that’s trespassing if you want the views as advertised. We booked both sites for privacy, but had 3 separate vehicles in the span of 5 hours drive up to the area, and we had to awkwardly usher them away. The last of the vehicles that came closer to 10pm while we were sleeping, had a family of 5 spill out of the truck claiming they were up there to “use the restroom”, then proceeding to do so directly next to our camp site. They also flipped a picnic table over and appeared angry with us over the fact that they felt entitled to the space, which was extremely uncomfortable and could have ended in a major altercation if we didn’t properly deescalate the situation. Although the land is beautiful, it isn’t worth the headache.

The road up certainly isn’t getting easier, but it’s all part of the adventure! Still made it up with my little trailer (not recommend unless overland). I’m good at picking rainy days so the visibility wasn’t the best. The site’s grass was reasonably short which leads me to believe the owner is taking notice of previous reviews in making sure it’s not a jungle up there. Would suggest sone winter chopping off the little trees along the perimeter that keep getting bigger over the years and slowly blocking the spectacular view. Overall, still a great place after 3 previous visits. Thank you!

I loved staying on peters land, the ridge has an incredible view and the site is great for car camping. Rocky fork state park is definitely worth it!!!

Please note that a lot of the previous pictures that show this site are misleading as the flat 360 views area, with plastic picnic table, is someone else’s land & private property.
With that in mind this site was still perfect for us and our dog! There’s only two campsites which gave us plenty of space and privacy. There was no one at the other site while we stayed so we had the whole thing to ourselves. I don’t think this location can be beat based on the views, seclusion, closeness to AVL. We will for sure be back!
Site 2 didn’t really have a sign so we first drove past it and up to the private property which is now clearly identify with signs stating “no camping, no fires”. We circled back and found site 2. It is more tucked away than site 1 and resembles a grass driveway. The picnic table for site 2 is separated from the rest of the site which was a little confusing at first but it is still within a few steps.
Site 1 has better views AT the site for a sunset. Site 2, as I said, is more tucked away and you’re surrounded by shrubs. To get the great views you will need to walk about 100’ or so to the marked private property signs. Since no one else was there it was really no issue for us. We took our chairs and watched both the sunset and sunrise. Highly recommend to anyone needing to escape the city for a day.

The camp site was pretty private. We had site 2 which there isn't really a view from at least in July. Site 1 would have been better. But the amazing view is entirely on land that is marked with what might as well be no trespassing signs. The road up is definitely not for everyone but looks harder than it is.

We really enjoyed our stay on Peter’s land and the views were some of the best we saw on our trip this week! It is a very peaceful site with a lot of privacy. Our only concern was that site 2 was very overgrown and had a lot of ticks. Definitely would recommend wearing long pants and bring bug spray! The road is a little rocky, but we were able to get up it in a Subaru Crosstrek without a problem. Peter gave us very clear directions and we were able to find the sites easily!

The pictures are a bit misleading! Were it looks like the camp sites are supposed to be are growing up in tall grass. And the nice view were it would be nice to camp at. Doesn’t seem like your supposed to camp there!

WARNING: MISLEADING PICTURES. As I think most if not all the people who book this place, do so because they think they will be camping where the picture in the profile was taken. WRONG. The sites are actually not where the site pictures are and you are now forbidden to camp there. Upon driving in I saw the sign for site 1, but not site 2. I saw a picnic table but the area was overgrown and I saw no firepit so I continued on. I came up to the area that you see advertised, assuming this was site 2. There was a picnic table and fire pit as advertised. The fire pit was broken though and it was pretty much completely overgrown except for a small patch near the gigantic cross. As someone who is not religious, this was quite annoying to have a cross in your line of vision for most of the day. On day 2, a nice man rode up the area and informed me that the owners wanted him to put up a sign, prohibiting camping there. I asked him where site 2 was then (since I set up camp where the picture shows site 2 is) and he didn't know. I then went looking and found site 2, but the rotten wooden post that says "2" had been knocked over so you can only see it if you really look. The area where you think you'll be camping, and the actual site 2 is completely overgrown. Grass up to your knees. and the sites has no views at all. You'd have to walk to the area that is advertised to see anything. Overall I was very disappointed because the profile is misleading as to where you will actually be camping
