There are two potential areas to set up camp, some permanent chairs, a picnic table, the fire pit with some tools for it, a clean outhouse with clear directions inside, thoughtful area/arrangements that look like it would be a little fairy garden for children or something fun like that near one of the buildings. There is a large locked shed. We found the two trails and where they sort of can connect to the bike trails, which was fun. We were able to gather some extra fallen wood to burn from the woods. Very little noise is heard from the road and it is quiet and a lovely place! My group was very happy to howl at the moon here and would love to come back.

Sunset Ridge near Del Rio, TN is a true hidden gem perched high on a ridge with sweeping 50-mile western views of untouched American wilderness. From towering 6,000+ ft Smoky Mountain peaks to dense pine forests, deer, bears, and classic backwoods charm, this spot delivers the authentic mountain experience. Like many Hipcamp sites, you’ll drive through a few “interesting” areas to get there, but it’s absolutely worth the short detour off I-40. Hurricane Helen repair work continues in the region, so expect minor delays—but nothing that should deter your stay. The site itself is well laid out with a reliable 50-AMP hookup (30-AMP rigs should bring an adapter), two properly placed sewer connections for easy access, and a well-pump water source offering around 15–20 psi. We found that perfectly adequate for daily use, or you can fill your onboard tank and enjoy a stronger 40–50 psi via your RV’s pump. A cozy two-person swing overlooks the valley and is perfect for sunrise coffee or sunset photos. The spacious gravel circular driveway provides plenty of room for multiple vehicles and offers simple, level parking. Nights were peacefully quiet, with only the sounds of the woods around you. The paved road network above and around the property makes for great short hikes and even better sunset views. A firepit, available WiFi, and open sky complete the experience. Highly recommended for anyone seeking solitude, scenery, and Smoky Mountain magic. We will definitely be back soon.

Our stay at John's place at Sunset ridge was wonderful. Very private and quiet with a beautiful view of the mountains and, yes, sunsets. Easy in and out with room for two campers if you want to have a friend join. We highly recommend this site. When I asked for local suggestions they shared a great list. Our only regret is that we could not stay longer.

We had a wonderful time staying at John's campsite and thoroughly enjoyed the absolutely incredible views!! We have a 45ft Class A Motorhome pulling a 25ft flatbed trailer carrying our full-size Titan truck and had plenty of room. We were a little concerned upon reading some people's reviews about the drive to the campsite so we unhooked the trailer from the rv prior to driving up the mountain and pulled the trailer with the truck to which we had no problems at all getting to the campsite. The campsite has 50 amp hookup, water, sewer and excellent wifi. Did I mention the impeccable views 😀 We surely hope to stay here again the next time we travel to this area. Thank- you for sharing your beautiful piece of paradise John. PS: I miss that Rocky of yours, he is such well behaved, sweet handsome boy!

The views are priceless. Very happy with our stay. Would recommend to anyone in a heartbeat. We went to Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge and Sevierville, the drive was absolutely beautiful. A great place to be away from all the hustle and bustle after being in those cities.

Tmobile full signal. Information on getting there. We pulled a 36 ft tag along trailer. It's very narrow one lane road last 1/4 mile. But no traffic hardly.

Let me tell you, this place is fantastic! The view is spectacular! This is a very large lot with all hookups, fire ring, wood, picnic table and a wonderful wooden swing to enjoy the view. Our site was further away from the road so it was a great site. The river is right down from the campground and it's a gorgeous area. Our site was level and well equipped. We were able to face our camper toward the river which we like a lot. The area is quiet and serene. The sites are equipped with fire ring, full hook up, new picnic table. There was enough road area in the camp area to walk our dogs. The dumpster is far enough away but close enough to walk to. The sites are spaced well enough apart.

This is a great spot. Not sure you will find many locations with full hook ups and such a beautiful view on a mountain ridge all to yourself. The hook ups worked perfectly and plenty of space to navigate on the pad with two entrances allowing for pull-through access. As other reviews mentioned, the roads from Rte 40 to the site are a bit narrow and windy. I was able to navigate with my small Class A but it may make some nervous in larger rigs. For myself, it was definitely worth the trip. I extended my stay two times because I liked the spot so much. The hosts were very responsive to communication. I highly recommend this HipCamp.
