What a wonderful space! My husband and I don’t frequently find ourselves with a weekend off and I’m so glad that we found this little retreat site for the brief break we could take! It had everything we could want; a sweet little dock area for fishing, privacy, established fire pit and even a table provided if you need it. We are so grateful ☺️

Harmony Glen will keep a piece of our hearts. We camped for 6 nights on Mrs. June’s property and loved every minute of it. June’s 40 acres are pure treasures and it was a privilege to experience a part of her daily life. June’s two pups, Peaches and Molly were an adorable addition.

This was our first Hipcamp experience and overall it was a good one! June was a lovely host with a beautiful property that we enjoyed exploring with our kids. There is a grassy plot by the fire pit where you can pitch a tent near part of the creek. While it isn’t too far from June’s house, a tree line provides some privacy. The road is nearby and you can hear cars every now and then, but the sound was infrequent and not a big deal for us. There were lots of lightening bugs when we were there and the display was pretty impressive. Our kids enjoyed hiking in the woods and playing in the creek. June’s pups, Molly and Peaches were sweet and our kids loved petting them. Our only negative was beyond June’s control- there were some dogs nearby (not hers) that barked constantly hours into the night/early morning. This is probably not an issue with an RV, but we will be bringing ear plugs next time. :)

I’ve camped in some gorgeous places and this one is SO amazing! It was easy to access (didn’t need AWD or 4WD) and felt so private. The lake is gorgeous. My dog loved swimming in the lake and it was perfect for my first time paddleboarding. The fire pit is really nice too and there are so many great spots to set up your tent too. I’ll be back!!

The description of the Hipcamp was very accurate. The site was level, hookups were perfect & the views of Table Rock Mountain exceeded our expectations. The location was within close proximity to hiking (Table Rock & Paris mountain) & biking ( loved Swamp Rabbit bike trail & Travelers Rest). The land offers peace & quiet while being surrounded by nature, with incredible wide open skies full of stars. Steven was an excellent host. We can’t wait to go back!

Weekend Trip to Starlight Hills

We had a great time! Host was accommodating and we arrived a bit early and as the unit was already clean, they allowed us to set up a bit early before kayaking at lake James! The glamping Yurt/ MTG2 was so cute! Comfy bed! There is not regular power source, but solar that operates a fan, lights, and a usb outlet (not standard plug). The social area with hammocks and tables was lovely to overlook the Mountain View! The highlight was definitely the spa purchase! Soaking tub with sauna! The showers had hot water (was outside so bring a robe!) and portajohns for restroom facilities. Water is available at a central location, but not at each individual campsite (one large jug provided next to fire pit). Overall a fabulous glamping experience!

My friends and I all had a great time staying at campsite 6! There was plenty of space for us to spread out the 3 tents we brought and have room for our vehicles as well. I was easily able to drive up to the campsite in my smaller car. The portapotty was only a short walk from the campsite. Having running water not directly at the campsite but being able to refill our water jugs was very helpful. Our group also booked thes spa which was a great daytime activity. Even with 7 of us we all had fun. The tiki torch rental was also a great add on and a fun surprise for the others in my group. The hikes to the nearby overlook and creek were short but well worth. We hope to return to campsite 6 in years to come!

Bigfoot Brook Campground

If you are looking for peace and tranquility in the Blue Ridge Mountains, this privately owned, primitive campground is a great place for your tent! Nestled in Medford Mountain at about 1200 ft., each creek-side slip has a magnificent view of the 1532 ft. mountaintop. Whether surrounded by spring blossoms or fall foliage, animal and leaf lovers often see turkeys at dawn and deer at dusk. Foxes and bobcats have also been spotted on occasion. It is important to note that bear and coyote roam freely on the adjacent mountaintop, although are rarely seen or heard. Proper wilderness precautions must always be taken while camping. Aside from the flora and fauna, one of the biggest attractions is the star-filled sky. On a clear night, it is imperative to take a break from your private campfire to appreciate the Milky Way. You may also enjoy the meteor showers in August and other celestial events. Not to be outdone, the day sky does not disappoint. If a pop-up shower passes through, a double rainbow is often left in its wake. In the surrounding area, there are many outdoor activities to enjoy during the day. In a half hour or less, you may go horseback riding, ziplining, kayaking, tubing, fishing, hiking, and climbing. Public access to Lake Lure is less than 15 mi. away, but access to a lakeside road with amazing views is only a couple of minutes away. In addition, there is a little-known waterfall about 8 minutes up the street. If spending the day on site, be sure to walk the trail on the opposite side of the creek and hike up the hill for a different view. In addition, badminton, volleyball, ladder ball, cornhole, Yardzee, croquet, bocce, frisbees, footballs, board games and books are available for free rental. Plus, children may enjoy gem mining in the creek (for an additional fee). Of course, everyone can play Slapsquatch on the grounds for free. *Last minute decision? No worries! Check out our equipment package for two. We also sell firewood and rent tents, hammocks and other equipment separately. My wife and I moved to the area, from Boone, in the spring of 2014. Our dream was to own a house, preferably a cabin, on top of a mountain with long range views and a gradual winding road to the top. Living in Boone, this dream was definitely out of reach. When we began our search for a new home in the Asheville area, we discovered that the more affordable homes were in fact on the mountains. Perfect! In general I always have a pretty positive outlook on what’s possible, however, I was skeptical that we would ever find our dream home. As Jeannie began her Zillow browsing adventures, one particular cabin with acreage, that was outside of our budget continued to pop up. Jeannie would delete it and then it would come back. At some point the price began to drop, and drop, and drop. On our way back into town one weekend after attending a wedding, I convinced Jeannie to drive by the cabin just because we had the time. Immediately we fell in love and reached out to our realtor buddy. It was more of a shot in the dark but it couldn’t hurt, right? We held our breath for the next month totally expecting someone to get it under contract before us or the sellers not accepting our offer. It had already been reduced significantly so we knew our chances of a lowball offer were slim. We offered the most that we could get a loan for. They accepted! I still get anxious thinking back to that month, October 2014. Many years and two children later, here we are, just as excited everyday to make the long trek up our mountain as we were that August of 2014, and now we are happy to offer a similar experience to you, without having to buy the place. Never stop dreaming! Hope to see you soon, cheers! Learn more about this land: Pitch your tent in the grass on the tip top of the mountain or park your camper in the flat gravel spot with a fire pit just below the top with beautiful views overlooking Cane Creek. In the fall and winter enjoy 360 degree views and in the summer enjoy the shade and cool breeze while relaxing & snacking on wild wine berries and black raspberries. What you will not find is light pollution, traffic, and a desire to leave the mountain. Fall asleep to the calls of the hoot owl and wake up to the knocking of the wood pecker. Pondside Single, DBA Mud Puddle

Pondside Single and the lower part of my property were decimated in the catastrophic floods of Hurricane Helene, September 27, 2024. The 1st three photos are what it looks like now. Please know that we (and Bee Tree Valley) are still in the recovery phase, and it will take *years* to recover. Pondside Single still has the electric hookups and wifi that folks enjoyed. But it is no longer a tucked away, private, sweet and comforting place to camp. Please take this into account if you would like to book with us. Pondside Single pond was originally a small quarry outlier for Grove Stone Quarry in Black Mountain. There are many small quarries in this area that were dug in the 1940s and 1950s. After they finished their work, reclamation was done, and the quarries were filled in by the streams and tributaries which flow down this valley. It is a very shallow pond which offers sanctuary to birds, fishes, salamanders, frogs, snapping turtles, beaver and otters. I have installed a Clemson Beaver Pond Leveler at the overflow. This device tricks the Beavers and they can not hear or feel the water flowing out of the pond. It has been in place for 3 years and works like a charm. Beavers are very industrious creatures.
