The Positives:
The yurt itself was lovely—very clean, well-maintained, and comfortable for the family. The host provided a great supply of firewood, which made our evenings by the fire very enjoyable. Additionally, the host was excellent at communicating and was very responsive throughout the booking process.
The Downsides:
The biggest drawback for us was the lack of privacy and the "backyard" feel of the site. We didn't feel like we were away in the woods; we could hear neighbors mowing their lawns, dogs barking, and some road noise from passing cars.
The outdoor space was also a little tight. If you have kids who want to run around or play catch with a football or frisbee, there is very little room to do so.
The propane tank on the grill was empty when we went to use it. I also regret paying the extra fee for the kayak. It was covered in leaves and dirt when we arrived, and the seats were in pretty bad shape.
I have no doubt that if I had reached out during our stay to fix the issues we encountered, they would have tried to help, but I chose not to as I just wanted to relax.

Fun family weekend on the lake

It was a cool little spot! We came in October and the water was low, so if you need water access be sure to ask the lake levels before you go. The yurt had all the comforts of home and Briana was extremely responsive and helpful! She provided water jugs for us so we wouldn't have to haul in our own.

Great spot! You can pack light, as most of what you need is already at the site. Host was very responsive, though we did not need much, as everything was provided. Quiet, peaceful, and private. We had two dogs with us (mine is reactive/fearful) and it was secluded enough that I did not feel that I needed to worry too much during our stay.

Peace and quiet. Loved the lake and the yurt. I said it is a little hard to get down there and back out but since you don't have to take a whole lot it's not terrible.

Easy to get to, very responsive host, reasonably secluded, and secure. My wife and daughters had a great time, the hosts provided all the amenities you might need. Highly recommend if you are looking for a glamping weekend getaway.

Loved staying in this yurt with my husband and dog for a few nights. It was private, great to hike around from the property, comfortable bed. Also when our lamp had an issue and we needed more water, they accommodated quickly with a new lamp and jugs of water. It was great to relax by the campfire every night.

The yurt is absolutely perfect and I cant wait to return! We fished, hiked, paddled (both kayak and SUP), foraged mushrooms, napped in the hammock, and completely unplugged! I haven’t slept that well in months. Everything you need is there….including complete peace! I can’t wait to return!

Comfortable accomodations, pretty much on Lake James and accessed off of the Fonta Flora Trail. Grandsons loved that they could fish and hope to try the available to rent paddle board next time.

We loved Yurt camping at Brianna 's at Lake James! The yurt is beautifully set in the dense, green forest. There is lots of room inside of the yurt with a very comfortable queen size bed. There is a table & chairs inside, with a dresser, 2 night stands, a picnic basket with pots, pans, plates,cups, and silverware.
They have a huge fan to use also.
On the porch is the portable toilet.

This site was perfect! I went on a rainy weekend, and even then it was so peaceful. It has everything you need and is private, right near the stream and lake. Couldn’t make a fire with the rain but the grill was great. I brought my dogs and they enjoyed it too! Pack light on your way down for sure. I would highly recommend this site and will likely come back again. T-Mobile does not have service at the site but does about a minute drive away

I suggest to pack light because you have a short hike down to the yurt and also back up. We went in July and it was hot af ! Also stormed each day and night.

Neat spot ! Great location- Glamp away ! We got a super rainy weekend and the Yurt was a warm, dry, spacious and sturdy shelter! My 6 yr old loved it. Despite rain, we had great campfires w/ complimentary firewood. It was fun to sit on the dock and listen to the bullfrogs. The bed is super comfortable and the freshly laundered bedding smelled wonderful. You do need to be prepared to hike about 1/10 of a mile to the campsite from the parking space. I put our cooler in my wagon and then we cheated and brought our e-bike w trailer to haul the gear out (it’s uphill on the way out.) We visited Fonta Flora Brewery nearby and accessed Lake James at the Linville boat ramp. It was great!

We did an instant book and even though Brianna was out of town and had little service, she went out of her way to make sure we had everything we needed. It is such a beautiful spot and I definitely recommend getting the kayak or paddle board rental. The lake is gorgeous! Very dog friendly as well, would recommend bringing your pup along. So much to do in the area!

My husband and I loved our stay! Everything was exactly as described. Brianna was very accommodating and friendly. We love hiking and trail running, so this location was perfect. The trail is right there!

The stay was absolutely amazing and everything i could have hoped for! the location is private and secluded while allowing us the benefits of being close to a town. Brianna is an incredible host and I hope to visit again soon!

10/10 would recommend! It’s nice to have just about everything you need provided. We stayed in February so it was cold and rainy but the yurt kept us dry. The heated blanket was a lifesaver and we brought our own mini-Buddy heater. Brianna was a great host — super responsive and helpful.
Highlights:
*Generator that powers just about anything you need inside the yurt.
*Kayak was comfortable and the lake was beautiful to explore.
*Fonta Flora trail (next to yurt) was well maintained and fun to trail run on.
I wish it didn’t rain all weekend so we could’ve enjoyed this place more. I hope we will be back!

What a beautiful campsite. Glamping at its best! Even Hurricane Helene Brianna was able to have everything up and ready. She had massive flooding Anat the Yurt but was able to have everything prepared for us! She is an amazing host and cares about if you are enjoying her spot. So amazing! The Yurt at Lake James was as wonderful as described. Brianna made extra efforts to make the visit comfortable and convenient.
The accomodations including the bed were very comfy.
The generator worked great to power a light and fan for the evening, which was all we really needed.
Despite a rainy visit it was a very nice get away into the woods with many of the comforts of home.

Honestly, it was so refreshing to know that the space had so many of the camping necessities we needed! We brought our own kayak and paddle board and mountain bikes and had a fabulous time! It is super private and a beautiful trail to get to the Yurt.

Brianna’s place was wonderful! The yurt felt clean on the inside and the bed was comfortable and clean as well. There were many useful tools in the kitchen basket as well. The little generator they had was very useful for charging our phones. We have T-Mobile and did not have any service, not really a big deal since we were camping anyway, if anything that should be a positive! There were plenty of seating areas for us two. The grill worked well for cooking. I will say that if you want a fan or something to sleep with in the yurt, do not rely on the one in there… it works great but is crazy loud 😂. The lake was a very short walk away, highly recommended renting the kayak. We took a paddle on it around to the next cove and swam a little bit by the community bench. Being on the Fonta trail is wonderful, we went a ways down it while we were there. Only had two people walk by the trail while we were there for three days. The yurt feels secluded. The first night we did hear one of the neighbor’s dogs barking from across the lake, little but annoying but he stopped around 11:30 the first night and we didn’t hear him again. Nothing to do about that but a set of ear plugs wouldn’t be a bad idea if you are susceptible to annoyance from a dog barking. Overall, it is a wonderful spot with a beautiful little creek running right behind the yurt. Highly recommend!

This is an amazing spot! Super private, along a creek with access to the lake with the kayak available for rent. The firepit was stocked with logs and the gas grill was awesome. We REALLY appreciated the electric fan inside the yurt as we visited on particularly warm days. The small generator was such a bonus - powering the fan and hot plate, but was also available for device charging. The best part was how immaculately clean everything was. This would be ideal for someone new to camping, or like us, love camping but wanted a break from all the set-up/takedown that we're used to. The yurt really has everything you need. If you're eating onsite, I recommend carrying your food down in a bag or backpack bc a steel cooler is provided. Try to pack only what you can carry so the walk down is more fun and not a trudge. We each carried backpack and a small bag of food/drinks and it was ideal. Highly, highly recommend this place. Also, check out Flora Fonta brewery even if you don't drink beer - it's a gorgeous property with picnic tables and a food truck.

I loved absolutely everything about this place! The peace and quiet the privacy and the fact that there was a camper potty everything was immaculately clean and enjoyed the little touches like the coffee the fan and everything that they had put together I've already told almost everybody I know about this place so hopefully you'll get some people coming your way! I'll definitely be back thank you for my enjoyable trip

Besides the tiring climb up and down the hill with your essentials this is definitely the perfect spot, very peaceful, tranquil and relaxing spot! Would definitely stay again!
