Family Owned location with great views . Located adjacent to the Linville River and across the street from Lake James . This location gives the camper a center location for many activities. The State Fonta Flora trail system sits within feet of this property and offers the mountain biker miles of beautiful trails . Within a short distance is the trail head to Shortoff mountain and Linville George with exceptional views and hiking. Boat landing is a close for those who want to recreate on the lake and kayak. Close by is the renowned Fonta Flora brewery and Mica Town Breweries located only a few miles away. This is a secluded space that is private and on the Linville River before it enters Lake James. Lake James State Park offers a full menu of activities. Along with boating, swimming and fishing in the beautiful, clear waters of the 6,812-acre lake, there are 25 miles of trails, 15 of which are open to mountain biking. Trails vary from the short, educational Holly Discovery Trail with child-friendly activities, to the more adventurous, historic section of the Overmountain Victory Trail.  Welcome!

Since Helene there is no longer access to the river camp by vehicle, foot only. All pasture sites have full access to the river camp by foot for day use. Large lush pasture 5 min drive to boat landing for kayaking , fishing and boating on Lake James.    Campsite is less then 5 min walk to a Great hike and Mountain Biking on Fonta Flora State trail system , 5 min by car to hwy 105 for a day trip on dirt road to Linville Falls and Wisemans view, ten min drive to trial head of Shortoff Mountain , soak in some of the most spectacular views in the North Carolina mountains, with sweeping vistas of the Linville Gorge and Lake James. The Linville Gorge Wilderness Area, also known as the Grand Canyon of the East, is one of the wildest, most rugged gorges in the eastern United States. It's an outdoor paradise for hikers and backpackers.  Our other favorite spots in the Linville Gorge include hikes to the top of Table Rock and Hawksbill mountains, the overlook at Wiseman's View and hikes at Linville Falls. Fonta Flora  brewery located just 5 min drive west on Hwy 126.   Adventure riders motorcyclist, Overlanders, cyclist and small Rvs welcome.  Please be aware there is only one vehicle per camp site unless you add additional vehicles under the Extra Tab second vehicle is discounted $40 = one Vehicle=4 people , per night This is done when family’s want to share a site together. We are not a commercial campground just a private mom and pop property excited to share this beautiful area with others.

We absolutely loved our time at the Linville Adventure Pasture. Christian was a wonderful host and went above and beyond to make our stay great. We have three boys 6-11, and we did EVERYTHING! We threw axes, rode the zip line, did a round of frisbee golf, swam in the river and jumped off the rock ledges. The location is great for other local activities as well. There is a running/biking path, a great 4.5 mile hike up Shortoff Mountain with spectacular views, close to Old NC 105 for some off-roading fun and so much more within an hour. Endless fun to be had. The property is not only beautiful but it’s also clean and safe. We highly recommend staying here and plan to come back if able. Thank you, Christian!!

Beautiful land and camping spot! Not on the river, but a short walk to a pebbly river spot that is shallow enough to wade in the water. We loved the open pasture and space to run around. Good location and great for families!

I loved tent camping on Christian's land. Everything was exactly as his listing described. The closeness to the river was wonderful and the host family were very nice! We will absolutely be back

Christian is a welcoming host and his sites in the pasture are wonderful. We had two families at the snail and turtle sites. The zip line and tire swing were huge hits with the kids. We watched fireflies and swam in the river. The adults tried our hand at axe throwing. The portojohn was clean, and the dish station was so helpful. Went to Fonta Flora brewery for dinner one night. Recommend all around and hope to come back.

We absolutely enjoyed the peace and tranquility of this space. It was close to many beautiful hiking trails as well. My favorite was taking a short walk to the river to dip in. Definitely would come back!

This site was private yet conveniently located. We were able to access the river, the lake and beautiful trails for hiking. There is a sink with running water that really helped us while we were "boone docking". The host was so great and gave us tips on some awesome hikes and a brewery!

Had a great long weekend at LAP. Booked sites 2 and 3 for two families. While it would have been easy to put 2 families on one site, we enjoyed the extra space. Christian was great! So many thoughtful touches made it an easy place to stay. We hiked Shortoff which was super close and fun! May be helpful for others; 3 is nearest bathroom/sink - super nice for us with kids! if you are a light sensitive sleeper may choose 1 or 2 The river swimming is only for the river site campers. This is further from the bathroom/sink but would recommend considering it if you want to swim/get wet or want more privacy!! While dogs are welcome, it seemed that ours - who are barkers - were making others uncomfortable. So if you have dogs that bark, may consider the river spot as well. There are some cabin options as well on the land.

Really nice RV site on a large creek. Pretty secluded and peaceful. You'll need a 4x4 to get in if it rains but the ground at the site drained well and wasn't muddy. Christian was very nice and accommodating. Will definitely stay here again sometime.

Great tent site, host was very welcoming and accommodating. My dad and I had a trailer with two kayaks on it and took a less than 5 minute drive to the boat ramp to launch. Very clean and well kept piece of land. Nice sink for washing dishes or refilling water filters near the firewood storage. Port-a-potty for the bathroom for now but host explained he has a plan to have showers and bathroom up at the house. Axe throwing next to the firewood, horseshoes about 30 feet next to the axe throwing, and bigger fire pit in the middle of the pasture. Definitely would camp at again.

Such a great place to camp! Especially if you can go during a week of a full moon- the moonrise was amazing over the pasture. Lots to do with a family and good hiking close by.

This property has a lot to offer , and the creek side camp was perfect. Very clean and organized. Having the extra amenities like a sink to was dishes was a plus. The ax throwing area , tire swing , and zip line are all an extra bonus. We were greeted when we entered the property and were shown to our campsite and was told everything the place has to offer. We will definitely be back.

Noisy, no privacy, giant parties

This campsite is so exposed- sits across a field from two houses in a hill which are also rentals- people were outside all day on the porch and we had no privacy. Our second day the owners failed to inform us until we arrived that there would be a huge party- more than 39 cars showed up and parked next to our campsite and the entire day people partied right across from our camp, including a baby’s reveal explosion. After that party wrapped up, the backside of the campsites has a row of trees bordering houses that partied until past midnight. We had no privacy, no quiet, no notice that we would be camping in a huge party- the whole experience was not what was described and really unpleasant.

Really gorgeous camp site and land. Great hikes nearby, we had a a lot of fun. We had a few hiccups because I missed that there is no trash facility and guests are responsible for hauling their own trash off the property, but Christian was super flexible and it was no big deal. Great host.

This was our 2nd stay and we have nothing but positive feedback about LAP. This campsite has plenty of shade and easy access to the creek to stay cool during this scorcher summer. Dogs love being able to freely run along the private trail and explore the creek. We’ll be back!

The campsite was nice enough and the river access. But we had no idea we would be camping directly across the river from houses and thus looking into someones window. Then the security lights that came on at dark from the houses. And the generator that ran the next morning. So if you want to be remote this is not it. But the campsite was nice and the pasture with games was nice too for younger kids.

We always have a great time here, huge amount of space for the kids to run around and close to the lake james beach, trails, fonta flora brewery. Great right overhead view of the F-16’s that regularly fly up Linville gorge too.

This immediately became our favorite camp site we’ve ever stayed at! The view and access to the river was perfect, the campsite was spacious and clean and we were within driving distance to hikes, biking trails, lake access and a brewery. Christian was kind and helpful and we hope to stay again soon!

Loved the experience. Christian has done a great job with the land. Site was large. We enjoyed tent camping on the grass (vs rocks at other camping grounds). Christian was friendly. His son delivered firewood. We appreciated the outdoor sink. Great local hikes. Brewery and burger joint is nearby too. I’ll be back.

If you are looking for a prime location with lots of trails and right next to a lake James state park this is the perfect location. The host is very friendly. I stayed at the snail spot, it wasn’t right next to a lake like sleeping next to a lake but it was still beautiful. It was my first time having my dog off leash in a camping site and she was SOOO Happy! I would love to go back, definitely recommend. I did wish it had a 1 night minimum option, haven’t made my way up to a two night solo trip yet because I get stinky and need to sleep in my bed.
