5 out of 5 stars. Linville Adventure Pasture is a wonderful privately run campground and we enjoyed the wooded privacy, river access, and freedom for the dogs to explore, play, and swim. Our host Christian was incredibly responsive, as well as thoughtful. He even sent a friend to help jump my car, when the battery stalled overnight (thanks James!) We enjoyed our weekend at River Camp so much that I booked another stay, before driving off the property.
Helpful tips:
1. Directions: Host will provide directions ahead of arrival. Just beyond the storage shed is a fork and you’ll take the dirt trail on the left and drive until you see a rock bluff and open area with a fire pit (roughly a 1/4 mile). The road is well-maintained, but if it’s muddy 4WD would be ideal. 2WD could work too, if you have good tires and decent clearance.
2. Amenities: The campsite has a table, bench, and fire pit. If you want to access campground amenities, hike back to the main area aka the ‘pasture’ (where the storage shed, sink, porta-potty, firewood, and additional campsites are located).
3. Cell Service: No service by the river. You can get 1-2 bars by the pasture, but it’s spotty.
4. Dogs: Site is completely private so the dogs were able to roam off-leash.
5. Comfort: There’s dense tree coverage by the river, so plenty of shade to stay cool.
6. Bugs: Given proximity to the river, mosquitos and spiders were very active, so don’t forget the bug spray!
