Family Owned location with great views . Located adjacent to the Linville River and across the street from Lake James . This location gives the camper a center location for many activities. The State Fonta Flora trail system sits within feet of this property and offers the mountain biker miles of beautiful trails . Within a short distance is the trail head to Shortoff mountain and Linville George with exceptional views and hiking. Boat landing is a close for those who want to recreate on the lake and kayak. Close by is the renowned Fonta Flora brewery and Mica Town Breweries located only a few miles away. This is a secluded space that is private and on the Linville River before it enters Lake James. Lake James State Park offers a full menu of activities. Along with boating, swimming and fishing in the beautiful, clear waters of the 6,812-acre lake, there are 25 miles of trails, 15 of which are open to mountain biking. Trails vary from the short, educational Holly Discovery Trail with child-friendly activities, to the more adventurous, historic section of the Overmountain Victory Trail.  Welcome!

Nice getaway
If you are looking for a prime location with lots of trails and right next to a lake James state park this is the perfect location. The host is very friendly. I stayed at the snail spot, it wasn’t right next to a lake like sleeping next to a lake but it was still beautiful. It was my first time having my dog off leash in a camping site and she was SOOO Happy! I would love to go back, definitely recommend. I did wish it had a 1 night minimum option, haven’t made my way up to a two night solo trip yet because I get stinky and need to sleep in my bed.

I loved tent camping on Christian's land! Super quiet, clean and safe. My 7 year old son loved the zipline and the tire swing! My dogs loved it too! Thank you for sharing your place! We will definitely be back.

Lake James @ Linville River Camp
River acamp
5 out of 5 stars. Linville Adventure Pasture is a wonderful privately run campground and we enjoyed the wooded privacy, river access, and freedom for the dogs to explore, play, and swim. Our host Christian was incredibly responsive, as well as thoughtful. He even sent a friend to help jump my car, when the battery stalled overnight (thanks James!) We enjoyed our weekend at River Camp so much that I booked another stay, before driving off the property. Helpful tips: 1. Directions: Host will provide directions ahead of arrival. Just beyond the storage shed is a fork and you’ll take the dirt trail on the left and drive until you see a rock bluff and open area with a fire pit (roughly a 1/4 mile). The road is well-maintained, but if it’s muddy 4WD would be ideal. 2WD could work too, if you have good tires and decent clearance. 2. Amenities: The campsite has a table, bench, and fire pit. If you want to access campground amenities, hike back to the main area aka the ‘pasture’ (where the storage shed, sink, porta-potty, firewood, and additional campsites are located). 3. Cell Service: No service by the river. You can get 1-2 bars by the pasture, but it’s spotty. 4. Dogs: Site is completely private so the dogs were able to roam off-leash. 5. Comfort: There’s dense tree coverage by the river, so plenty of shade to stay cool. 6. Bugs: Given proximity to the river, mosquitos and spiders were very active, so don’t forget the bug spray!

Lake James @ Linville River Camp
We had an awesome time! The river campsite is awesome. Being able to take a dip in the water when it’s hot and sleep next to the sound of river was just magical. The site is huge and we’d love to come back one day with more people. Our kids really loved getting to see the beaver in its habit too. Christian is super nice and helpful and we felt very welcomed and taken care of. We heard your honk on our way out of town Christian! Cya next time!

The host was fantastic, it was a super windy trip and our tent blew away. He helped us tie it down. Recommended an amazing hike and was super friendly. Great campsite for dogs, local walking trails, piece and quite. Would come back and bring friends.
