Our historic and peaceful property is yours to explore! You can sit by the pond, take casual strolls around the property, enjoy the campfire at night, bike for miles on scenic country roads, and use this site as a jumping off point to discover all the beer, wine, cheese, concerts, festivals, hiking, kayaking, restaurants, shopping and more that the greater Capital Region has to offer! According to a few sources we've consulted, the Mohican people (Eastern Algonquian family of tribes - not to be confused with the Mohawk, a distinctly different tribe) were the indigenous occupants of the land where our farm is now located. Historians note that the name Mohican is from the indigenous word meaning "water that flows in two directions." Most Mohicans were driven into western NY and Canada when the Revolutionary War broke out. Local history indicates that the first white occupants to build here were the Hawley Family, in 1790. Parts of the farmhouse date to this era. Outbuildings were added through the decades and centuries, and the land was used as a dairy farm, among other ventures, by previous owners. We purchased the property in 2021 in hopes of providing more space, nature and outdoor living for our two little ones. We have two fields dedicated to Christmas trees, as well as apple, pear and cherry trees, and we've had successful garlic harvests to share with neighbors, family, friends, and at local farmers' markets. For generations, the majestic waterfall has been revered for its spectacular beauty. It’s considered a sacred site central to local land rematriation work with the Kanienkeha:ka. Coursing between two outcroppings in a deep ravine, the waterfall crashes down over mossy rock shelves into emerald swimming holes and through dramatic clay beds. It’s one of those extraordinary spots on earth that make you feel like you’re in another world. The sites aren’t suitable for parties or loud groups. It's about a 10 minute hike to the waterfall where you can spend the day swimming, exploring the clay beds and looking for fossils in the 280 million year old gorge. In the evening, make a campfire and fall asleep under the stars listening to the river below. The hike is steep and appropriate footwear is required. All hiking is at your own risk. Although your path to the waterfall is private and the waterfall is on private property, there may be other guests or locals that access the waterfall further down the road. There is no glass or alcohol allowed at the falls. Be aware that you may hear your camping neighbors in the woods. For this reason, we ask that you don’t play amplified music and keep noise down after 10pm to enjoy the sounds of frogs, crickets, owls, and night songs of the countryside At the entrance to the campsites there is a barn community room with a charging station, cold water sink, fridge, coffee maker, cookware, and a port-a-potty. There are 5 gallon solar shower bags that you can use at your campsite. You are responsible for filling them and putting them in the sun to heat the water. This is a leave no trace site. Take all your trash with you when you leave. Bring your own biodegradable soap for dishes and toilet paper for the port-a-potty! Firewood is available onsite for $1 per log. The Schoharie Valley is said to be the most fertile valley east of the Mississippi. It is still wild, unspoiled country and there are many local farms stands with fresh produce and organic meat close by. Within a 5 miles radius is a general store, Scrumpy Ewe Cidery, Panther Creek Arts, Rooted Movement, the Sap Bush Country Store and Café, and Mustang Valley (a wild mustang sanctuary). Nearby hikes include Looking Glass Pond and Vroman's Nose, and others.

We are a homestead and small campground devoted to the principles of organic farming and self-reliance. Easy entry off a quiet well maintained country road in the town of Conesville, NY. Sitting on 5 acres you will notice the beautiful views of the Catskill Mountains. Feel free to hike the entire property. Hike down the gorge approximately 80ft to the seasonal mountain fed creek. You will find massive boulders, and various artifacts as this property was once a mining operation dating back to the early 1920s. Be mindful of partially fallen trees on the hillside along the south end. It’s a steep hike down so get your hiking poles and good boots. The north end is an easier hike. If you find any cool artifacts they are yours to keep or just leave them and we will add them to the display for the new cabin. Check out the iconic ‘57 Chevy Bel Air halfway down the gorge. This campground is easy to park with a convenient bathroom and showers that are fairly clean. Toilets were cleaned both mornings. The last shower stall is large enough to get clothes away from shower area. The shower heads are intelligently placed facing toward the back wall and there was plenty of hot water. The washer and dryer are reasonably priced. We were there late in the season and they were doing some work with chain saws. Perhaps in preparation for the next season. Absolutely no managerial people spoke to us and the office was closed when we arrived. We just went to our reserved site.

Highly recommend Lake Lauderdale Campground! The owner was so kind - he even waited for us when we arrived late to make sure we knew where to park and to answer any questions. The place is magical, quiet, and absolutely beautiful. Waking up to that view in the morning was such a treat! Of course, there are full hookups (electricity, water, and dump). We had an amazing experience here and truly hope to come back in the future!

Jeff and Milton have a lovely property in a beautiful part of upstate NY. We chose it as it was a short distance from the Saratoga Performing Arts Center (SPAC) for a show we planned to attend. We enjoyed riding bikes along the country roads and the pups had a great time playing in the lush grass. The 30 amp hookup worked perfecty and the well water was clean and clear. We also had a fun evening by the fire on our last night and highly recommend this spot for a unique private getaway in a gorgeous setting with wonderful and helpful hosts.

This is an excellent HipCamp. Located in a beautiful setting surrounded by farmland. It is a quiet and well maintained property. The host (Jeffrey) was very responsive and even has a nice YouTube video with instructions on how to set up if for some reason he is not available. It is nice to not have any guess work or anxiety about ensuring you are honoring the host’s wishes. I highly recommend this HipCamp.
