The Neversink River Isle

4.1mi from Monticello · 1 site · Tent, RV
This private, breathtaking property is nestled directly on the Neversink River, located just one mile from Exit 109 off NY-17 (new I-86). Join us on 3 sprawling acres, and enjoy the serene beauty of the Neversink River. The property is ideal for anyone looking to escape to a secluded, quiet area, with everything from Bald Eagles, Deer, Rabbits, and other local wildlife. Fell free to step right into the shallow river, just footsteps from your tent, and enjoy some smores by the riverside firepit. The river typically doesn't exceed more than 3 feet of depth throughout the entire property (unless high rain totals). Relatively short drives to local attractions include the newly renovated Holiday Mountain Ski & Fun Park (1.2 miles), Resorts World Catskills Casino (2.6 miles), the Kartrite Indoor Water Park (2.9 miles), and Bethel Woods Center for the Arts (18.4 mile), home to the 1969 Woodstock music festival. 2 gas stations, a liquor store and supermarket are also within 2 miles of the property, as well as local eateries. We recommend bringing inflatables and or kayaks to take advantage of the beautiful river. Guests can drop in a few miles up river, and float down to the campsite. Trip can take anywhere from 1 hour to 3 hours depending on current flow and or paddle strength. We hope to have you stay with us!

The River's Edge

7. The River's Edge

98%
(404)
17mi from Monticello · 9 sites · Tents, RVs, Lodging
All lodging sites have heating for your comfort and are available year round! The River's Edge campsites sit on the shoreline of the Delaware River at the western edge of New York State overlooking the mountains of Pennsylvania. Our canvas tents and open air platforms perch between the river and the former Delaware & Hudson Canal which was once was used to transport raw goods by barge to New York City via the 'port' of Port Jervis. The remnants of the canal walls are throughout the property including a 300 person theater which we created to both preserve and feature this industrial history. It also makes a great place for an event or a movie night. Today, the original canal towpath, along which barges would be pulled and floated downstream, is a trail that links all of the campsites over 5 acres and at the furthest end an eel fishing camp that is in operation from June to October. In the early 1900s, the train replaced the canal as the primary method of moving goods into New York and if you are lucky — you will hear the train rumble by along the river on the Pennsylvania side. There is something spectacular in the absolute still and grandness of the river, the mountains and the ongoing industrial history of the valley. It is a reminder of the way things used to be. The farmhouse and cabins are located opposite the campsites on other side of route 97. Next to them are 50 acres of wild forest to hike and explore. These accommodations are great for guests who want more amenities but still with easy access to river. Pair campsites and cabins so that all your guests have their best experience. Contact us to coordinate for larger group bookings. Please note that a significant portion of county tax/fees and cancellation or change fees may be avoided by booking the base amount of people (4) and at a much later date adding extra guests. Guests NOT occupying canvas tent (lodging) and bringing their own tents should not be paying an occupancy tax but there is no provision for this in the app. We do not want our guests paying taxes -- that benefit no one but useless bureaucracy! Extra guests may be added the week before booking. Just let us know your plans through the app!

Wahl Dairy Farm. Hilltop Campsite

8. Wahl Dairy Farm. Hilltop Campsite

96%
(179)
18mi from Monticello · 35 sites · Tents, RVs
Wahl Dairy Farm has been a family run and owned small farm since 1921 when August Wahl moved their family to Callicoon. August was a butcher by trade, and the farm started as a family homestead, raising their own chickens and cows with the help of a few horses and of course August's father who was very handy and could make axe handles and wooden wheel spokes. The Wahl homestead became Wahl Dairy Farm in the 1940s when August started selling milk, two or four cans at a time, to the creamery. August's son, Vernon, took over the business and built it up; at one point about 100 cows were being milked! Vernon's son Ross took over the farm in 1995 and diversified it. Ross regularly raises chickens and pigs and grows pumpkins, in addition to the 40 or so milking cows currently on the farm (there are also calves and heifers). The farm is about 200 acres in total, including 15 acres of woods, 15 acres of "hunting" land (deer and rabbits roam free in the scrub), and close to 150 acres in production with pasture and hay. We never feed corn silage! We believe the corn gives the milk a more sour taste (you are what you eat!). We're proud that we've always been in grassland and committed to raising a mostly grass fed dairy herd, a quality not found in many diary farms today. We're excited to share this place with you! In addition there is excellent cell phone service on the farm! Great for digital nomads and everyone who needs to stay connected. The site is the second highest point in Sullivan County. Some of the most beautiful views in New York State! Learn more about this land: Rustic camping on our beautiful farm. Quiet, wooded space -- away from the rat race. A true country escape! Pitch your tent near the treeline. You can walk through the open fields, take in the view, watch the sunset and stargaze. 20 minutes to Bethel Woods!

Ideally located - West facing views to the Delaware River that provides spectacular sunsets. The town of Callicoon is six miles to the North and Narrowsburg is six miles to the south. Most of the restaurants in the area are farm to table - excellent quality. Wildlife is abundant - you will see many deer, bald eagles, bear, wild turkeys, and much more. Pepper spray is a must for spending time on the property. We have not seen a bear on our property, however there have been sightings near by. River access is approximately one mile south (3 minute drive) on NY97 at Skinners Falls Beach. There is a pile of free firewood on an old farm wagon that you will see on your way up. We will meet you at the site when you check in. Guidelines: 1 Please keep all food and garbage inside your trailer during your entire stay unless you are eating at the picnic bench. 2 Keep pepper spray on your person at all times! It can be purchased at Tom's Bait and Tackle at the strip mall just before entering Narrowsburg: 116 Kirks Rd. Check photos 3 Please take all food scraps with you - avoid pouring cooking oil and leaving garbage on the property. 4 Kindly use the fire pit 20 feet or more from the picnic table and all trees - the location it is in when you arrive is the best place. 5 Please avoid touching any electric wires to prevent electric shock. 6 Please cover the picnic table and metal fire pit before leaving. 7 Please be respectful of our neighbors by staying on our property. Our property ends 10 feet into the woods. 8 We do not supply firewood, however there is plenty that can be gathered from our property. You will see it laying all around. 9 Please clean up after your pet. 10 If you dog is not well trained and barks uncontrollably we kindly ask that you look for a more remote Hipcamp location. Our neighbors do not want dogs on their property. 11 Use bug spray to avoid ticks, mosquitos, etc. Our favorite places to eat: The Laundrette Pizza, The Heron, and La Cigogne all in Narrowsburg. Callicoon Wine Merchant, The Black Walnut, and Seminary Hill Orchard and Cidery all in Callicoon. The North Branch Inn - North Branch, Conover Club at Callicoon Hills Guest House - Callicoon Center. The Walk In - Livingston Manor. There are many more! Go out and explore!
