The best dog-friendly glamping in Catskills

Just over two hours away from New York City, this mountain region is loved for its rolling green hills, pristine forests, and hidden waterfalls. The natural beauty has drawn visitors for over a century, leaving a history of grand resorts and hotels. The Catskill Mountains are the birthplace of fly fishing, as well as a popular destination for skiing, hiking, kayaking and, of course, camping.

Summer is the high season for campers when the comfortable temperatures lure folks away from the sweltering city. Autumn has fans, too. Visitors come as the trees change color, recasting the land in brilliant oranges and reds.

Kaaterskill Falls is perhaps the most famous scenic spot. This stunning waterfall cascades down over 250-feet. The falls have inspired artists for centuries, including several Hudson River School painters. The North-South Lake campground is close by. The largest of the New York State campgrounds, this spot has many family-friendly amenities, including beaches, boat rentals, and hiking trails.

Experienced hikers come to the Devil's Path to tackle one of the country's most difficult--and dangerous--hiking trails. The path takes hikers over some of the highest peaks, including Hunter Mountain. In the winter, this mountain is a major thrill for skiers and snowboarders. The Hunter Mountain Skyride has chair lifts that take you to the top most days of the year.

The Esopus Creek offers some of the best fly fishing in the country, particularly for trout. For a home base, check out the Kenneth L. Wilson campground, just a short drive from Mt. Tremper. The ground is on Wilson Lake and has a fishing pier to cast off into the shallow water.

You can also explore the Catskill Forest Preserve by water, following the many tributaries and lakes. Little Pond campground is a nice jumping off point. In addition to tent sites, there are several remote campgrounds off the beaten path for more seclusion. Just down the road are Big Lake and Alder Lake, two favorite spots for flat-water paddling. Motorboats aren't allowed, so small craft have the water all to themselves.

Located In upstate New York is this hidden gem. This camper was old school, now turned new. With a full renovation to give it a Scandinavian look in the front, and a cozy cabin feel in the bedroom. This will give you a unique experience different from the normal camper your used to! Also at your campsite there is a firepit, garden hose,(not available during the winter)and a 8x8 hammock perfect to stargaze in! We are now offering kindling firewood with fire starter and matches. Feel free to reserve your own firewood. $10 *PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE BOOKING* I want to be transparent with you guys on the property and size of the camper! -The camper is very small only 21ft. The average height clearance is 6'2" so if you are tall this may not be for you. (I'm 5'9" and its comfortable for me) -If you are a bigger person this may feel too tight for you especially in the bathroom area -The bed is a full size some couples may feel that this is to small for them. -A hot shower will last about 15 minutes once it is heated up. -In the summertime there is bugs some may get into the camper. We do treat the area with safe bug spray but it may not fully prevent them. -There are two other tiny houses and a main house on the property. They are far apart but the main house is close. We have a privacy fence that fully blocks the house. So you are still very private but you are not fully secluded. -In case of fire There is a fire blanket, fire extinguisher, and a smoke/carbon monoxide detector inside the camper. The bedroom door is only to be used as an emergency fire exit. (Door is locked from the outside but unlocked from the inside) There is also a water cannon outside for outdoor fires. Please be responsible with all fires! -If you want to cancel you must cancel within 24 hours of booking then I will issue a full refund. Such a cute and cozy place to stay. The dogs enjoyed running around the property off-leash and my boyfriend and I loved the outdoor space. A bit rainy for us to use the projector outside, but we enjoyed movie night on the projector screen located inside the home. 10/10 stay, just wish we'd booked for a longer stay!

The land was beautiful and the camper was well stocked and clean. Very nicely renovated. Loved the net out front where it was beautiful to star gaze and night and watch birds during the day. Very close to great hikes and an amazing bakery (Catskill mountain bakery & market). Had a great time! Would def recommend!

I loved staying at this wonderful Hipcamp location, nestled in the heart of the Catskills! We enjoyed the outdoor movie projector under the stars while sitting in the relaxing hot tub, having a beer. The sauna was also a lovely place to unwind after a day of exploring. The tiny home was well-stocked and we didn't need a thing. The host had everything outlined and easy to access. We would 100% stay here again when visiting this area. Thank you for having us!

This was my first time using Hipcamp and Michelle and her property truly exceeded my expectations. Everything was seamless. She thought of everything on her property. The guest hot tub was out of service and she opened her personal one up to guests. The Zen Den provided all the essentials. The guest shower area was excellent and had warm water. There’s a movie library. Super cute. I would highly recommend.

What a beautiful stay! We arrived to an amazingly kept tiny home with everything ready to use on the perfect layout of land. The hot tub was one of the best parts, as was the cauldron fire pit and projector! Having cookware, coffee machine and a kitchen made our stay even more enjoyable. The bathroom was gorgeous, but everything in total was great! We will definitely be back again, maybe on the motorcycles to enjoy more of the beautiful back roads! Thank you so much! Weekend Trip to Burr Oaks Forest secluded campsites

Michael and Laura maintain a beautiful property nestled in the Catskills mountains. Camp was full the night we stayed but the sites are indeed secluded and we rarely saw anyone else. Michael was on hand when we arrived to make sure we had all of the information we needed. We arrived later in the day (around 3:30) got settled quickly into the simple a-frame, and had time to make a 3 hour hike up neighboring slide mountain and make dinner on the campfire after returning. We couldn’t believe how few bugs were out for the beginning of July (my boyfriend and I are both native western New Yorkers so this was a nice surprise.) We were able to combine the 2 cot mattresses along with our double camp mattress on top and fold up the single cots for the night with room to stow them in the corner and sleep comfortably amongst the ferns while listening to the hoots of the owls. Thanks so much Michael for the great stay in the woods!

John’s camper was super fun! My partner and I loved it as a little summer getaway. Here’s some things to note: shower never got hot (there was instructions to wait 20 minutes after turning the heat button on and letting the water run but it never turned warm). Oven did not work :( If you plan to go to this site in the summer, be prepared to have a lot of buggy friends fly in to the camper at night. TV, bed, and everything else was amazing.

4 nights at The Catskill And Chill

We had such a beautiful time! John is an amazing host, he's down to earth and very helpful. He already mentioned this in the description, but the RV is tight! Me and my girlfriend both are 5'3" so we are good and found the space cozy. Cooking was good too, we got some groceries delivered from a nearby market that does free delivery. The RV has its own spot in the shared campsite and it feels private. The hammock outside is wonderful and we took a few naps there too. We forgot our cards but John has a deck in the RV which worked perfectly for us. We did fires every night and did some food in the grill. There are different species of birds in the campsite and at night the stars are gorgeous. We saw a few bunnies and a pair of deers around as well. We were there without a car so it was a bit harder to move around but taxi services work there! It just takes a bit of time. There are a lot of things to enjoy in Hudson, Catskill and Leeds! We did also a few hikes around the area and explored some thrift/antiques stores that were lovely. Oh and the wifi works good! We would love to come back!
