1 night at Sacred Waterfall & Quiet Retreat

I came and stayed on one of their older campsites a while back and they have done an incredible job creating more beautiful spaces to retreat from the city. This time we booked the Sparrow and the two new campsites for an overnight with our kids and their friends. From the moment we arrived, it's apparent how much care and intention goes into creating each site. Everything felt thoughtfully placed and it made for a really pleasant and fun experience. We spent the day hiking down to the waterfall (steep but beautiful!). It was too cool to swim but we took off our shoes and waded and even found a fossil. At night we fully enjoyed the fire pit and it was a perfect experience that we deeply needed. Tip: bring a few extra solar lights or lanterns for your path at night, especially if you’re staying in one of the more tucked-away campsites. It gets dark at night but makes for incredible stargazing. I couldn’t recommend this host and their property more. We left rested, reconnected, and already talking about the next trip to come back.

2 nights at The Record Room

From NOFX to Lynyrd Skynyrd, listening to all of the albums on the record player was a dream! While we did go on an excursion to the Catskills, we could have stayed and enjoyed ourselves foreverrrr. Not only does the nature and cabin provide the most amazing backdrop for a getaway, but the Rio Dam, Hawks Nest Lookout, and Point Jarvis attractions are minutes away! Our two dogs LOVED the privacy of the spot, and we loved the outdoor kitchen, hot tub, and that bed was soooooo comfy! With the added perks of endless firewood and tiki lights, our stay on Masen's land was truly magical! Thank you for taking such good care of us!!

Weekend Trip to Angie's Country Cabins B&B

This was such a great long weekend away. The weather was VERY COLD AND RAINY, but we were kept so cozy and warm in the cabin with a comfy bed and heater. We also would never have been bored with the amount of things to do on Angie’s property from trails, to fires, to music, to the hot tub, and more! It’s also sooo conveniently located to Lilly Dale and lots of hiking, and there’s a dollar general just up the road for anything you forgot!! Angie is so hospitable, and has thought of everything you could need for a glamping experience. When on Angie’s land, you feel like you’re part of the community, and it’s really special. We definitely want to return, ideally in warmer weather lol!!

Weekend Trip to Hippie Havens: A Groovy Retreat

Shaggy’s Hipcamp was perfect! Had a ton of great amenities to up your camping experience to a glamping experience. Lots of privacy, very comfortable and good vibes all around. Shaggy and his wife Kendra were both very kind and friendly people who we enjoyed having a few conversations with. The town of Narrowsburg is an easy ~15 minute drive away with a lot of fun shops, restaurants, bars/breweries and coffee shops. We will definitely be back!

Weekend Trip to Stonecutters Ledge

We loved camping at Jay’s! He was very accommodating. I recommend comparing what you want in the kitchen to what’s already there. We brought a toddler and an infant so it wasn’t your typical camping experience, but we felt like we could still enjoy being outdoors and comfortable in the tent. Our favorite part was cooking steaks over hot coals in the large fire pit.

My partner and I came to the Record Room to celebrate my graduation and our 2 year anniversary and we never wanted to leave. Masen and his family have created a very special place. We listened to music nonstop, poked around the surrounding woods, and soaked in the wood fire hot tub. It was truly the perfect place to celebrate and unplug for the weekend!

Weekend Trip to Glamping Tent Overlooking Waterfall

My fiance and I had a lovely experience. The sound of the stream next to the camper was very relaxing, and the ambience was thoughtful and charming. I took a bath on the porch, and it was the best bath ever! The spot is secluded, and very private. Curtains on the tub for privacy, but it still feels amazing to take a hot bath and take in the calming sounds of nature. There were more amenities than I had expected (kitchen ware, towels). The camper is comfortable and quaint. Sam, the host, was very attentive and communicative. The property is well cared for. There are hiking trails nearby, and a lake for kayaking/canoeing. I Definitely recommend!

Truly one of the most unique and beautiful camping spots I’ve ever experienced. Can’t recommend highly enough. The hosts’ vibes were absolutely impeccable! Ty!

The cabin was very cozy well-made and interesting to look at. The record collection included a lot of classic rock, classical jazz all the way to modern hip-hop. The wood powered hot tub took a little bit to get going, but was a highlight. There’s plenty of beautiful sites nearby to see but the land it’s on was so beautiful. There was really no need to leave. Only con for me was no shower but we were able to wash up using the water from the hot tub (which is drained and refilled for each guest)

This was by far the best camping trip I have been on. I’ve done it all from backpacking to glamping and this was perfectly in the middle. A perfect spot for my 16 month olds first trip to the woods. The cabin and surrounding spaces were so beautiful and all the details were mind blowing. You can tell it is all hand built. The kitchen was such a great touch and my favorite part. It is nicely secluded and the hosts were so friendly. We actually wish we saw them more because they were so awesome! We got in on a chilly rainy day and Masen had the fire inside and the tub filled and warming up for us already. Very thoughtful and caring about their guests. We couldn’t have asked for more honestly. I cannot wait to come back. Thank you for your hospitality Raymonds.

1 night at Glamping Tent Overlooking Waterfall

Super cozy site with just about everything you would need provided (minus food and drink). Having a cup of coffee early in the morning while soaking in a hot bath listening to the stream and birds is absolute heaven. A+ experience. The site is a bit close to the road but there was little to no traffic so it wasn't an issue at all. If you're looking for total seclusion you might be a little disappointed but if you're looking for a super convenient, very comfortable and well thought out site you will be very pleased. Sam couldn't have been a better host. Was extremely communicative and I have no doubt he would have happily helped with any requests we may have had.

3 nights at Hippie Havens: A Groovy Retreat

Hippie Havens was an AMAZING find. Shaggy and Kendra are really friendly and welcoming. Their dog Taj got along very well with our dog and us. Just an all around cool vibe. The cabin was immaculately prepared and the attention to detail was great. The multicolored wifi controlled lights were a cool touch. We mentioned it was a birthday for one of us, and they had it prepared with an adorable birthday card, balloon, and some friendship bracelets. Honestly, the additional touches were over the top. The s'mores are a must get. The sauna was a big plus and definitely relaxing. All in all this place is amazing, and we will be back. We've already booked our second trip.

Weekend Trip to Stonecutters Ledge

This site was huge! It had everything and more! Our 2 nights there it ended up snowing and raining pretty much the whole time, but we made it work. The heaters provided were perfect, and the portable stove top still allowed us to cook under protection from the weather. The hot tub was a huge plus and there's even a hot shower and outhouse. Trails were everywhere but the weather wasnt ideal. Jay was a great host, came and checked in with us with any questions I had. Would love to stay again!

Thank you Angie for a great stay! She is definitely trying to make the property a destination! The cabin is located slightly down the street from their house. Beautifully set up! We enjoyed being a bit more secluded considering we had dogs. We didn’t use their hot tub but were welcomed to it! The property as well as the local area was flooded due to weather. We stayed for one night (due to a cancellation of another Hipcamp) but were happy to find the spot for future use! Thanks again!

Sacred Waterfall & Quiet Retreat

NOTE: THIS IS A QUIET AREA for reconnecting with nature. Not suitable for parties or loud groups. For generations, the majestic waterfall has been revered for its spectacular beauty and power. It is considered a sacred site that has been central to local land rematriation work with the Kanienkeha:ka, also known as the Mohawks, Coursing between two outcroppings in a deep ravine, Kahonrakén:ra Waterfall crashes down over mossy rock shelves into a hidden pool, which then empties again into the river, running into emerald swimming holes and through dramatic clay beds. The effect is transporting. Truly, it is one of those extraordinarily beautiful spots on earth that makes you feel like you are in another world. There are two tiny cabins on the property. Both sites have extra space to set up a tent if needed. The Forest Cabin is insulated with hemp, has electric lights and outlets, is bigger inside with a work desk, Anderson crank out windows, a bigger deck, and two twin mattresses under the bed if you need them. The Wildflower Cabin is a bit deeper in the forest, a little smaller, uninsulated with two walls of old-school wood-pane windows that open out to the forest completely, one twin mattress under the bed and a powerstrip for light electric use. Both sites have private fire pits, solar shower stalls, fans for cooling and an electric heater for chilly nights. It's a 10 minute hike down the gorge to the waterfall from the campsites. Each campsite has a private path down to the waterfall, where you can spend the day swimming, exploring the clay beds and looking for fossils in the 280 million year old gorge. In the evening, make a campfire at your fire pit and fall asleep under the stars listening to the waterfall and the river below. Be aware that the hike is steep and appropriate footwear is required. All hiking is at your own risk. Although your path to the waterfall is private and the waterfall is on private property, there may be other guests or locals that access the waterfall further down the road. There is no glass or alcohol allowed at the falls. Please be aware that you may hear your camping neighbors in the woods. For this reason, we ask that you don’t play amplified music and to keep noise down after 10pm to chillax and enjoy the sounds of frogs, crickets, owls, and night songs of the countryside that makes Schoharie so special. In the big red barn at the entrance to the campsites there is a community room with a charging station, cold water sink, mini fridge, coffee maker, grills, and a port-a-potty for your use. There are also 5 gallon solar shower bags that you can use at your campsite. You are responsible for filling them and putting them in the sun to heat the water. :) This is a leave no trace site. Please take all your trash with you when you leave. And please bring your own biodegradable soap for dishes and toilet paper for the port-a-potty! Firewood is available onsite for $1 per log. The Schoharie Valley is said to be the most fertile valley east of the Mississippi. It is still wild, unspoiled country and there are many local farms with fresh produce and organic meat within 5 miles of the house. There are several farm stands and a general store a few miles away, Scrumpy Ewe Cidery, Panther Creek Arts, and the Sap Bush Country Store and Café just up the hill in West Fulton. Mustang Valley, a wild mustang sanctuary and rescue center, is just down the road. Nearby hikes include Looking Glass Pond and Vroman's Nose, among many others.

No true trails are available, but you can be adventurous and hike further up the mountain, arriving to a clearing, providing you with a lovely mountainous view. From the mountain, you can hike to a waterfall or even hike across a lovely plain field surrounded by mountain ranges on both sides and crossing the creek over to Historic Stone houses in Hurley. Within a 10 minute drive check out some of the local restaurants like Alebrijes, Hickory BBQ & Smokehouse, and the Hurley Inn where the movie “Tootsie” was filmed!. Hurley Marbletown Trailhead and Rail trail parking are only a 6 minute drive away! The nights are just spectacular as you look into the sky surrounded by a blanket of stars, able to see the many constellations looking like jewels on a black cloth. The sounds of nature and all of it's distinct calls including that of eagles, is truly an experience. And we cannot forget our other friendly neighbors, the wild turkeys and deer! We are very appreciative of this beauty and would love to share this sacred place with you. Robinia in Glenwood is a working homestead located on 24 acres of mostly forested land. The predominant species in the mixed hardwood forests are Robinia Pseudoacacia (Black locust) and Black Walnut. There are places on the land and a short walk away along DuBois and Glenwood Heights Roads where there are wonderful views of Cayuga Lake. It is less than a mile walk or ride to the Black Diamond Trail, a hiking and biking trail that extends four+ miles North to Taughannock Falls State Park and four+ miles South to Cass Park, the Ithaca Children's Garden, and the City of Ithaca Municipal Pool. And all of downtown Ithaca. Hundreds of adjacent (although not accessible) acres are wildlife preserves, abandoned orchards, and a working honey bee and bison farm.
