About this space The "Kick Back Tiny Shack" has a queen size bed, small futon bed (for a child) along with two single camp cots. Wi-Fi is available at nearby restaurants. AT&T works well here; all others are very sketchy. The cabin has a freestanding gas fireplace to keep you cozy and warm. Come prepared to relax. This is a rustic cabin with all amenities so no need to pack up dishes, bedding, towels, etc. (bring sleeping bag and pillow for anything other than the queen size bed.) The kitchen is fully stocked with your basic cooking and dining essentials. If you don't want to do dishes you are welcome to bring your own paper plates, etc. Coffee, Salt, pepper, dish soap and hand soap, toilet paper and one roll of paper towels provided. There is no running water, but you will be supplied with an electric pump faucet with 10 gallons of water for the kitchen sink for doing dishes, etc. There is also a pump faucet for the outhouse sink. You can heat water on the stove with the pot supplied. In addition, 1 gallon of drinking water will be supplied also. There is a heated outhouse next to the cabin which has a shower stall in which you can shower with an electric pump shower, 120 gallons of water and on demand water heater. Towels are provided and if you need more water, you can contact us, and we can refill at our home which is located next door. Please allow notice in case we are not home at the time. The contact information will be provided with your booking confirmation. You have your own private yard on our 6 acres with a BBQ pit in the summer months, firepit and grill off of the back deck year-round. If you chose to bring a four-wheeler, canoe, boat or snowmobile there is plenty of parking space depending on the quantity. A 5 mile drive gets you to the Mesabi Trial, over 160 miles of paved hiking and biking trail stretching from the Mississippi River on the west almost to the boundary waters and Ely, MN on the east. Local lakes within a few minute drive have public landings for boat launch and canoe carry in for your boating and fishing enjoyment. The famous Sax-Zim Bog is within a half hour drive and a great place for wildlife photography, and they have an interpretive center and very nice volunteers to help you identify wildlife. We’re about 5 miles south of the United Sates Hockey Hall of Fame; a great day trip for you and your sports minded children. A few miles further and you’re outside the doors of the Natural Harvest Food Co-op; a great shop for organic foods. Get local fresh food for your evening meal. Sneak into Lisa’s raspberry patch for “desert” or pick some hopps from the back fence in September and take them with you for your next home beer batch. I’m told they’re “Cascade Hopps”. They have a grapefruit taste. Mmm good! We invite you to join us. Bring your camping gear, including camp cook stove (sometimes we’re under a fire ban). Ask your dog to bring it’s leash, yes we have a leash law. Warm clothes and light clothing as the weather changes. Rain gear. Your favorite bug repellent. Good hiking boots. Our yurt sits on the edge of a wild woods on the banks of the Cloquet River overlooking a meadow that is an active forest restoration project currently in process. From your door, you can access a loop of trails that wind through the woods, to the river and back to the yurt. Get back to basics. There is no electricity or running water in the yurt. Camp lanterns and solar lights are provided as is refillable fresh water and a propane camp stove/oven with pots/pans/utensils. The yurt is heated solely by a wood stove and there is plenty of firewood a short distance away with a sled or wagon to use for hauling. A campfire pit is just outside the yurt with a hanging grill and grilling tools. A detached outhouse is a short walk from the yurt and is for your use alone when you're here. In the winter, a Luggable Loo is available to bring to the yurt to eliminate trips at night in the cold to the outhouse. The yurt contains a queen bed with linens and a single camp cot available on request.  Dogs are welcome in the yurt! We charge a $25 pet fee per reservation. If you'd like to bring a dog or dogs (limit 2), please add the Pet Fee which is listed as an extra during the booking process. In the warm months, the river is great for swimming and fishing. (And Coming Soon: Kayaks, river tubes, and canoe availability pending the sorting of proper insurance.) In the winter, two pairs of snowshoes are included for quiet walks through the woods. *Note: Train sounds and some road noise can be heard from the yurt. The train has been described as "quite loud" by some guests and as sounding "off in the distance" and "pleasant" by others. The crossing is a half mile away. Near by is a Cafe, Two churches, A Community Center, US Post Office complex.  At the Community Center, Post Office complex and Park with child-playground, In the park is a out-house that can be used 24/7,  it is open to the public. All within the commercial district of Cotton Minnesota.  Also the outhouse has electricity and there is a light .... Sax -Zim Bog Welcome Center is 12 miles west. Bog's :   Winterberry Bog,  Yellow-bellied Bog, and Indian Pipe Bog, are just west on Arkola Road.  Fire wood is free, I have been cutting wood, but is still in short supply and fire banned while dangerous dry conditions persist. We have gotten rain so it is better now. For you light sleepers staying in a tent, just know none stop traffic off the highway and then the birds started chirping up a storm at 4:30 in the morning. Odessa is not a commercial campground.

Named in honor of a late great nature enthusiast from the owners' family, Vaddu's Nature Reserve offers a cute cabin for rent in 40 acres of picturesque North Minnesota hunting/birdwatching territory, 10 minutes from Bob Dylan's home town of Hibbing, 45 minutes from Duluth, and 3 hours from the Twin Cities. Barely 10 minutes north of the Sax-Zim Bog, one often hears a veritable symphony of birds while at the site. The glampsite is ideal for folks who want to enjoy nature, find tranquility, and access nearby attractions in north Minnesota. A driveway provides easy access from Gerzin Road for people who might have a hard time walking long distances, with driveway parking right by the campsite; The location provides birding, hiking, bogging, and snow-shoeing possibilities for people of various abilities, both in the property and at nearby attractions like Washington State Forest or Cloquet Valley. Property is about half wetland and half forest, so ensure you safely prepare for expeditionary activities you might undertake...but you already knew that :-) A map is attached with the photos, where the light green is bog/wetland and the darker green is forest, with the campsite shown in a white pin drop and some other markers like deer stands and feed lots in red/blue pin drops. The trails are marked in teal lines on the map (some blaze orange ribbons on trees irl) but not state-park-level by any measure (goals!) My buddy who has leased the hunting rights this year maintains the trails from time to time, but be aware of both, overgrowth and marshland. Dress in bright colors. The campsite has a campfire setup, picnic table, firewood pile, other seating areas, space to play games/sports (some equipment provided), grills, propane stoves (propane not provided), an outhouse, borewell water (not drinkable without boiling/treatment but can be used for dishes, washing etc.). The cabin has heat by way of a propane heater. Solar-powered lantern in the cabin can charge cell phones. NOT ON THE GRID, but a generator takes care of any electronic or electrical appliances you might want to run. Bring drinking-water/TP/food/layers/sleeping-bags/blankets/trash-bags/repellant/etc.

The campsite is lovely and there are some relatively flat spots for a tent. A short trail through the woods leads to beautiful views of the bog. I restore neglected properties to a natural state, And provide campers with experiences to promote a love for nature. Many options for RV's and campers. You can see deer, squirrel, chipmunks and birds including Pileated Woodpeckers, Barred Owls and Common Loons on the lake. You can less than expect mosquitoes.

Spot was a little smaller than initially expected but, made it work with my 30' TT. Jared was very sweet, communicative & accommodating. Even discussed winter options & it was nice to know I had them. Occasionally heard a car or two go by & once in a while, you can hear the train, otherwise very tranquil & peaceful. Driveway could use some leveling but my Pontiac took the punishment like a champ. Spot was level enough that I didn't need to do anything to level my camper. Would recommend.

Turbera Vista Campsite is a peaceful and scenic spot perfect for stargazers and outdoor enthusiasts. We were able to back in our small coupe and set up our tent fairly quick, there was plenty of firewood and the stargazing was amazing, great getaway from the city! David provided us with detailed info of the site and amenities which were basic but thats all we needed! and directions in case we got lost, would definetely return in the near future!

This lovely little campground in Floodwood is a treasure! Conveniently located to highway 2, it is located along the St. Louis river. We enjoyed our site overlooking the river. It has recently been extensively renovated; all the sites are flat. Although we did not use the shower house, all the buildings looked very new and the campground is neat, tidy and well maintained. Definitely will be back.

This place was great for an overnight stay. I enjoyed the fire and the deepwoods experience. It is a few mins from a main road so not much traffic. I could hear the waterfowl on the nearby lake and would occasionally hear some of the neighbors dogs off in the distance. The land looked very lumpy on first inspection, but I found a place for my tent without a problem. There was extra firewood for purchase on site and plenty of deadwood you can pick up (not cut). I stayed in mid Oct. so the mosquitoes weren't bad. Follow the gps coordinates to a great no-thrills camp in the deep woods.

We were very impressed. The camp host, Scott, welcomed us and and told us about the events happening in town. The shower houses and restrooms were very clean. The sites are big enough for large RVs but are private. The firewood was inexpensive and the fire rings were nice and large. Scott offered a cooking grate if we needed one. Another great feature is that it is right on the river. Its a very beautiful spot. Surprising to myself, I would highly recommend this campground.

Great little spot! Site #9 was very nice. Good views, close to the fishing dock. Our experience was comfortable, quiet & cozy. I think this is a perfect campsite for not-so-experienced campers. Bathrooms/showers were very clean and convenient.
