We have tried to maintain a balance of nature while making the sites as RV friendly as possible. Although the property is located in the country, it is located along a state highway for easy access and there are three towns and many amenities and recreational venues within 15 minutes drive. She was re-designed in 1912 to be safer on the railroad (and her length extended so she wouldn't fall over). She ran the tracks of the Iron Range until retirement in 1968. It's been fully renovated with a few modern conveniences. We've re-used as much of the original wood as possible, and repurposed many things into other things so that we could keep the history alive. My husband is the carpenter that brought her to life and I'm the one that gave her some paint and design. Now, she's ready for people again, and to keep telling her story to others. Please...be our guest...and let Goldie be your host. Goldie has a max occupancy of 2 people due to space constraints. Paul has a really comfortable place, beautiful location on a quiet shallow small lake. There is a canoe, and many other entertainment opportunities are there onsite or nearby. it is a quiet spot, enough room for small family and pet to shar with Paul and his dog Piper as i did. i wish I had a few more days to enjoy, but i'll be back!

Amy’s place was beautiful and peaceful. The caboose sits on a quiet, wooded part of the property and feels totally private — you can’t even see her house from it. There’s a private trail that leads down to the lake, passing a picnic table and a fire pit with a built-in grill. It’s a perfect spot to relax, cook out, or just sit and enjoy the view. The whole setup has a cozy, tucked-away vibe that makes it easy to unwind and enjoy nature.

Paul’s Lakeside Cottage is such a lovely peaceful relaxing retreat. The views of the lake are stunning!! Paul and Piper were so kind and welcoming. We hiked his property, explored the nearby forest and small towns nearby, and of course a nightly campfire-we heard loons and owls. We usually tent camp so this was a treat-Paul has everything you need! I highly recommend!!!!!!

The caboose was a unique experience to actually stay in a renovated railroad caboose with ties to the area. It was very relaxing setting and have campfire coffee and close access to the bike trails. The dogs were always happy to say hello and the yoga platform was a perfect place to watch the clear night sky.

I brought my 3 dogs up to Paul's for a much needed getaway and I honestly can't wait to go back (sans dogs at least once). Piper was there to greet me as soon as I opened my car door and she is such a sweetheart! The views are goegeous, the hiking is a ton of fun with cool stuff to find, that stars are beautiful, the wildlife is fun to admire. I was able to listen to a loon, saw and heard my first raven in person, and watched a great blue heron that likes to feed out on the lake every day. There's definitely a reason all his reviews are absolutely glowing.

I can’t say enough good things or hardly pick my favorite. Enjoyed spending time on the lake, letting the dogs jump off the dock, and renting the EBikes for a day. Paul is very kind, responsive, and eager to help guests as needed. Great place, we will be back!

6 nights at The Hippie Hideaway Camp & Trails

I was so sad I had to cut my trip short for family reasons. I was scheduled to stay six nights. I had the best time. A completely new camping experience for me. One site. Thirty-six acres. All mine. All to yourself. One fire pit. One picnic table. Who does this? Lisa and her husband do. They could fit ten more sites on their property if they wanted, but they know the value of this once in a lifetime. It was quiet. Peaceful. Beautiful. I saw Lisa on the first day. She welcomed me with a smile on a quad. But she was always in touch and she responded quickly to my questions. I liked that her roosters woke me up every morning. I regret not going on the trail. But with so much space I was able to shank a few golf balls into the field with my nine iron. This may be your only chance to get a slight idea of what Henry David Thoreau at Walden felt like. It’s different. WELL worth the fee. And you’ll come away feeling better about pretty much everything.

A great hipcamp spot & Paul is a wonderful host! If you are looking for quiet and solitude, this is the place. No traffic noise or other campers to what can otherwise spoil a desirable camping experience. Paul even showed me around his land and the neighboring area and gave me recommendations for local live music. I highly recommend a visit to Paul's place!

Weekend Trip to RV There Yet Campground

Allen was a great host and met us pretty late to lead us to the site. We really appreciated it because the property is HUGE and we never would have found it without his help. The site was tucked back in the woods- very quiet and private. The land was a bit lumpy, which is fine for RVs, but we made the choice to tent camp. We were still able to find a good patch to set up our tent and really enjoyed the stargazing and sounds of nature. There was firewood available, but I would recommend bringing your own. There had been a lot of rain that week and the firewood is not protected from the elements. Allen offered to bring us some more, which was very kind, but I would at least have some ready for your first night.

Even though the cabin was stocked for cooking, we like to rough it a little.

5 nights at Paul’s Lakeside Cottage

My husband and I spent about a week at Paul's for our honeymoon and it was perfect. Paul is a great host and his dog Piper is just one of the sweetest. While we did explore a little of the near by towns and areas we mostly just stayed at the cabin and enjoyed the quiet. It was so incredibly peaceful and exactly what we were looking for. Thank you Paul and Piper, hope to see you again every year for our anniversary!
