Had a great stay, 2 adults and a dog. With only 3 sites, the grounds are quiet and secluded. Having the beer garden a walk away was nice to have a few beverages before bed. Had a decent fire pit ring with cooking grate. Had fire wood and ice available for purchase. Food truck on site was also a perk for an additional little snack if needed. The staff were helpful and extremely friendly. Will definitely be back!!

Weekend Trip to Provision Family Farms

We had a great time tent camping at the Beaver pond site. It's bare basics but if you're an avid tent camper, you'll know how to make it work. We were happy to have the outhouse offer privacy. The sun setting across the pond was absolutely gorgeous and we took the kayaks out to paddle through the reflection of clouds floating in the water. When the sun was down, out came the fireflies and the stars. At night we were serenaded by coyotes and woke to birdsong. The host was super friendly and helpful, and offered a tour of the cool looking farm, but we had plans to go hiking but next time!

2 nights at The Blue Cottage

The tent was great. The comfort station was nicely organized and very clean. We were very happy they allowed dogs because we wanted to bring ours along. When you pull into the driveway look to your right. There you will find short posts showing parking and a little blue wagon that you can use to haul your camping gear back to the tent. It is quite a walk back to the tent. The comfort station is about half way between where you park and the tent. We brought a battery operated lantern to use in the tent at night and a flashlight for trips to the comfort station in the dark. There are solar lights hanging just outside the tent which are pleasant when you're sitting outside the tent in the evening. There is a nice fire pit area a little ways from the tent but we did not use it this trip. We enjoyed our stay here very much and highly recommend it for other campers that like this type of camping.

Such beautiful energy at Roberts land and what an amazing place to call home. My dog and I had a lovely time walking on the paths and up the seasonal road, wandering the abundant gardens and cooling off in the creek.

4 nights at One Grand Place - Riverside Retreat

I had an absolutey, wonderful time on Doug and Kerri’s RV/tent sites. Doug was amazing upon arrival including guiding me into my RV site (1st time solo rv trip). They have a porta potty on site that was very well maintained. The site was clean and beautiful! The sunsets and sunrises were absolutely incredible! I will definitely return someday! They were even gracious enough to mail out my postcards!

Weekend Trip to Flipside Acres

The Cedar campsite at Flip side is such a fun spot. The hosts have set up a lot of nice things -- picnic table, community campfire spot, covered area, hiking trail, even a zip line!! We relaxed with our dogs, and watched the peaceful turkeys and deer who live nearby. Our truck camper is 10 and a half feet tall, perfect height to fit beneath the entry sign! Spring Lake is a beautiful community and a quick drive to Muskegon, Grand Haven and points beyond.

We loved Blue Lake Hops & Gardens! The sites were shady, spacious, and private. Each one has multiple places to set up a tent or camper, as well as a fire ring with grill attachment and trash can. All sites are just a short walk to the biergarten, which is supremely welcoming and cozy. We highly recommend, and are already looking to book all three sites for a large group of friends to camp together!

Stayed at the grand cabin. Absolutely amazing little spot. Ed was fantastic, he gave us a great rundown of the amenities offered. Really appreciated having a fully stocked cabin that came with everything you'd need for a light camping adventure. Will definitely come back here again.

Weekend Trip to One Grand Place - Riverside Retreat

We enjoyed our weekend very much! The river is beautiful and you can see both the sunrise and sunset. The setting is very peaceful (it is in a no wake zone on the river but they are right at the start so you do see and hear boats). My kids said it was a perfect place to camp. The listing is very accurate which was helpful - electric and potable water available, fire pits, communal grill, and they keep the port a potty clean. And Kerri and Doug we very responsive. We did head over to the beach as well - about a 20min drive. Thanks for a great stay!

We were looking to scout out a camp site west of us instead of north to mix it up and make it easier for some to attend. Stephen Adventure Land is great. We typically rustic camp so the toilet and showers are a treat. Everything was clean, the grounds are kept up, clear of debris. We were greeted by the camp dog who was really kind and friendly, despite our dogs being less so. Next time we will explore outdoor activities in the area that would appeal to a larger group.

The Windy Homestead

Tucked - Away Cabin

We have about 40 acres and trails through the area for exploring. You just may come across some "forts" constructed by some of our grandchildren. There is a large fire pit and plenty of firewood for a minimal cost. (Trash can full. ) If you listen in the evening, you are likely able to hear a couple of owls talking back and forth. Usually you can see some deer and maybe some turkeys. There are many old pines around the property, the last remnants of our Christmas tree farm. There is no electricity in the cabin, but we do have two solar lights and some battery lights. If it's been rainy, the solar won't work as well. We have cornhole game available upon request and some table games kept in cabin. If you want to go biking, there is a trail in town, about 5 miles away.

The 40 Acre Wood

www.facebook.com/the40acrewood Before our forest was "owned," it belonged to the Odawa people. Once white settlers arrived and governments were established, land deeds were written. We traced those deeds back through the Oceana County Register of Deeds and found that larger tracts of land were owned by people from Chicago and California, which were later divided into smaller parcels. Interestingly, one owner lost the property after failing to pay back taxes of $3.50, shortly after World War II. It is likely that he never returned. In the mid-1900s, Ed Dewey was the owner. Today, we have a cabin on the east side of the 40 acres that was built by Ed, entirely constructed with oak. He had three sawmills there, each powered by the engines of old Studebakers. He cut and milled enormous oak trees, using the wood to construct crates for transporting cherries. Today, you can still see old oak crates on various farms, but they are slowly being replaced by plastic. Ed never finished the little cabin, and the story goes that he died there. The next owners were a couple from Inkster, near Detroit. Despite Ed leaving an acre of "yard art" all over, the place was used as a vacation home after a 50-foot long mobile home was placed near the cabin. As they aged, they sold off their property to us. First, we acquired the 20 acres where the Cozy Camper Cabin resides, then the 7 acres near Weaver Road and 44th, and finally, the remaining 13 acres with the cabin. We began purchasing the property in parcels in 1992 for $500 an acre and owned it all by 1998. From 1998 to 2008, we removed the mobile home, cleaned up all the yard art, refurbished the cabin, added a garage, and built a new shed nearby. The Hipcamp shed was originally built in 1999 and has been used for storage until it was converted into a unique little place in the woods in 2021. Over the years, our Forester has carefully managed the property. We have logged three times. The first round was to remove 75 huge oak trees. The second round involved culling mature poplar trees. The last time, we took out 276 mature oaks and beeches. A Woodsman spent a year cutting down the tops of the trees. Clearing these old growth trees revitalized the forest, as planned. Today, there are over two miles of trails running throughout the property. Some were logging roads, while others were carved out over time. The land is flat to the north but hilly to the south, as these are forested sand dunes. There are approximately a million trees on the property, densely forested with many large "mother trees" such as oaks, beeches, maples, and pines. The poplar trees are growing rapidly, as they do. Wild cherry, sassafras, beeches, oaks, and maples are also growing quickly and thickly. To the south, there are fenced-in asparagus fields and cherry orchards. To the north, on the other side of Weaver Road, is the privately owned Silver Lake Airport, which remains quiet most of the time. On the east side of our 40 acres, you'll find our cabin and buildings, and we kindly ask you to avoid wandering onto that side of the property. Signs will alert you when you get close. To the west, there is a 20-acre section occasionally occupied by some "Dunners." The area is famous for Silver Lake State Park and the sand dunes, located about 2.5 miles northwest of us. Our neighbors in that area have dune buggies, and they sometimes drive around their property, creating more noise than we prefer. It's possible that you may encounter this during your visit, so please be aware. Deer are abundant in the area, and in 2021, we spotted a porcupine for the first time, although we have occasionally seen evidence of their presence through bark-stripped maples. Raccoons come and go, while turkeys are frequent visitors at times. You can hear coyotes yipping away at night, and depending on the time of year and migratory season, you'll see lots and lots of birds. We're pleased to report that there is no poison ivy on the property! It is a beautiful place in the woods, not far from many entertaining activities suitable for both the young and old. Come and visit, but please be respectful of the land and our privacy while enjoying yours. Love Mother Earth while you are here and nourish your soul.

Guests can take advantage of our modern bathhouse and shower facilities, as well as a coin-operated laundry room. For those who love fishing, our fish house is available for cleaning your catch of the day. Don’t forget to stop by the Snack Shack, where you can find pre-packaged candy, ice cream, SON-Life Camp apparel, and essential items you may have forgotten. Please note that we do not offer seasonal sites, and our campground license permits a maximum stay of 14 days. Each site accommodates one household or up to four unrelated individuals, with a limit of two sleeping units per site (such as a camper and a tent or two tents).
