Brookhollow Riverfront Campsite
The spot is gorgeous and so perfect for some time away. The river was the perfect size. Big enough for a lovely background when you’re sleeping and still small enough to wade in and was safe for the dogs to play in. There are lots of fish and critters to find.
The dogs loved playing in the river of course and there was plenty of room for fetch.
We loved how close it was to Grand Rapids. My husband had to work later than expected the day we came and had to leave for a few hours the next day. Being so close to town made it still doable for us when our plans had to change.
Spots for tents are generally shaded for the full day, but there’s still plenty of sunny spots at the site if that’s what you’re looking for.
There’s enough tree cover that as long as it wasn’t heavy rain, the site didn’t get super wet.
Host was very helpful, responsive and kind.
This was a perfect spot for those with a backpacking setup. The stairs down to the site were brutal with our car camping setup even for experienced campers/hikers.
Also, be aware of the horseflies in addition to the typical mosquitos. Definitely got a few painful bites.

What a peaceful piece of land! Nothing beats being lulled to sleep by the sound of the river flowing. I cannot stress enough to pack light! The trail down to camp was steep, loose gravel, and challenging with a wagon. Worth the effort, and my dog was in heaven.
Absolutely loved falling asleep to the sound of the flowing river. Our dog had a blast running around the trees

We really loved Brian’s property. Winding creek, tons of native plants, privacy, waterfront access. Everything you could want in a campsite. We will definitely be back!!
Amazing peaceful site. Great hosts. Nothing like sitting on the rivers edge under a full moon.
It was a pleasure staying at Brookhollow! The site was very private, and the sound of the running water with river view was so relaxing. Everything was well equipped. The stairs from the parking spot down to the river's edge campsite were a bit of a work out, but very manageable. It also gave a nice separation of privacy from the main property to the campsite.
Highly recommended! Would absolutely come back!

We loved camping here! Barb was very helpful and available to us all weekend! Very scenic and peaceful. Everything was detailed out for us perfectly before we left in the pdf sent to us, only thing I'd add is that you have to turn right at the end of the driveway road to get to the property. Highly recommended!
Insane location. I slept between a brook and a stream. Or maybe a creek and a brook. Hard to say. Would be great for a family looking to introduce kids to camping. Best for light campers.

We had the most wonderful weekend getaway here. It was extra special for us, because we have a reactive dog who can't join us at public campsites, or shared sites. This was his first time camping and it was perfect.
The site was secluded and gorgeous. There was just enough room to explore, and other hiking only a short drive away. Our hosts were so kind and helpful, and we are excited to plan another stay here in the warm summer months!
A lovely little spot that felt like our own perfect woodland and river to explore and relax in. The sounds of the water flowing all around are so magical! We enjoyed taking in all the flora and fauna, looking for critters in and out of the river (several different caterpillars, snails, spiders, butterflies, fish, crawdads and frogs that we could find!) sitting around the fire, checking out cool rocks and walking around the property. The campsite was clean and well taken care of though not entirely private with some campers/residents staying on the other side of the river and some reasonable noise from them. That being said, it still felt like it was mostly just us around. One of the nicest outhouse experiences I have had also! Barb was exceptionally helpful and made us feel very welcome there without intruding at all. Be prepared for the stairs and/or a small hike to get your gear in/out!!

My Buddies and I were headed up to a music festival in Michigan. We didn't arrive until around 10pm and booked the site a little late. Brian did not mind at all, showed us around the place and was a great host overall! Highly recommended.
Beautiful property and a beautiful spot to pitch a tent and hammock and relax. The river was high after a hard rain the night prior but after a couple of days it went down enough to take a dip and cool off! Saw a few kayakers and canoers meandering down the river while we cooked over the fire. Our dogs loved being able to dip in the river too :) the treck down to the campsite will put you to the test if you don’t pack light, but completely worth the effort! we hope to come back again someday

Absolutely incredible site with wonderful hosts! We loved camping right next to the river and listening to nature while we slept. Plenty of firewood and other supplies. The hosts were very gracious and responsive - even on a holiday weekend. We will absolutely be coming back!

I loved tent camping on Brian’s land. It was exactly as pictured and we couldn’t have asked for better weather or better hosts. We will definitely be back.
Our host was very friendly and helpful but not intrusive. The site was beautiful and private. We all hugged goodbye when we left, that's how good it was.

Great campsite! Brian was easy to communicate with and very responsive. The campsite is a bit of a hike down wooden stairs from the family house you park at, so be aware of that if you’re bringing any littles or someone with mobility issues. Overall, the space was decently private (you’re in the view of other homes and the home of the property owner), but you don’t feel looked upon. The creek was fantastic! There are plenty of spots to set up a tent and enjoy a night in the woods. Our dogs had the most fun being able to explore the woods and splash through the water. And there are many trails nearby to enjoy for all hikers!

The campsite was all to ourselves and was so peaceful. What a great place. The hosts were also super communicative and hospitable.
This was a nice spot right on the river. It Felt like you were the only ones out there. The hosts were extremely accommodating.

Great spot, nice and quiet, pretty private (although camp site is within sight lines of host’s house and some of the other neighbors back yards). The creek access is by far the best part of this site, we loved cooling off in the water. This campsite is perfect for a short weekend trip. Barb was a great host!

The hosts were super communicative and extremely friendly. Barb was on site when we arrived and graciously offered to help bring some of our gear down to the river in her ATV, which was a big help. The river front spot was beautiful and we had a wonderful time. Highly recommend!

Beautiful place nestled right on the stream. Lots of room and well situated for camping. Only drawback was that it was a bit of a hike to get to the site but the trade-off is a nice, secluded space.

What a special find! We had so much fun at Brian’s space. Set up our tent right by the fire pit and the river and it was idyllic. My only advice is to bring a cart or wagon to load and unload along the quad path as the walk down the stairs is quite steep.
We saw a couple kayakers, but otherwise it was very secluded. The scenery is gorgeous and the river is low enough to set a chair in and relax. The hosts were very welcoming and kind. I would definitely recommend.
I really enjoyed tent camping on Brian's land. Coming in there was a pretty big forecasted storm. Brian and his family assured me if I needed a safe place to wait out the weather, that it would be no trouble at all. The entire family greeted me and even helped me unload. You park up by house and walk your things down to the campsite. I'd suggest to consider camping with your essentials. There's no cell service by the river but I had service up by my car.
If you have a wagon, bring it. The gravel path down to the site is very steep in a certain section. There are stairs going down to the site as well but they are also a little narrow and steep. Just take your time and you'll be fine.
The campsite is perfect. The sound of the river was very soothing as I read in my chair and even better at night as we went to bed. Even with the rain, the campsite didn't flood, which was great.
I highly recommend this site if you're willingly to try something new and feel secluded. I will definitely try to come back.

Fantastic campsite! Right by the riverside and the water was great. Be prepared for a hike to get to and from site and your car as well as the bathroom. But worth the exercise!
This land is spectacular. The views of the river the secluded woods gorgeous trees and moss covered grounds. It’s such a gem of a spot. We really enjoyed playing in the water and relaxing near the bonfire.
The hosts were there to greet us when we arrived and showed us around the site and all the amenities. It is a VERY steep walk up and down to your vehicle. But we already knew that going in. I will say I was winded quite a few times. But the property its self is worth the hike up and down. We will most certainly be booking again in the future. We will bring a wagon to help load stuff up and down next time. I would advise anyone else to do so as well.
We found lots of slugs and other fun little creatures living their best lives on the trees and moss. I can’t say enough good stuff about this spot. I also can’t wait to go back!

We had a great time camping next to the river. It rained almost our whole stay and yet we still loved our trip. Barb was so kind and let us know if there was anything we needed we could ask her. The camping spot is right next to the river and it is so clean and well maintained. We can’t wait to go back!
