Hello, and welcome to Superior Times Resort and Campground!
We would like to take a moment and introduce ourselves. Our names are Tom and Heather Holmstrom. We were married in 2016 and have four children as part of our blended family. We are both originally from the Upper Peninsula. Superior Times Resort and Campground was the result of us wanting to do something “outside of the box” that would allow us to raise our family and show them there is more out there than the traditional path. We also wanted showcase our love and respect for the beauty of the Upper Peninsula; the area that many refer to as “God’s Country.”
In December of 2016, we mistakenly pulled into the driveway of this property. At that time, it was known as Coleman’s Paradise Resort. There was a For Sale sign marking the property. We both knew at that point our fate was sealed to become this property’s new owners. We learned that this property had been a family vacation destination for nearly 100 years. We could only imagine the special memories that had been made here over the years! We wanted to become a part of that deep history.
Through the many years of the resort’s history, the owners had changed and the cabins were showing true signs of their age. We knew there was A LOT of work that simply had to be done. On a wing and prayer, we somehow made this great resort ours. In April of 2017, we opened what we named Superior Times Resort and Campground. We pulled up or sleeves and went to work!

Knowing that you chose our resort to support, means a lot to our Superior Times and Resort family team. We truly appreciate your loyalty and give special thanks to our returning customers. Single full hookup for a camper close to Lake Superior. We have 50/30/20 electric, softened iron and odor free perfect water, septic, WiFi, and can accommodate a very large rig, lots of parking available. All graveled. At the end of a dead end paved road, so lots of privacy. Only 3 mile drive to Lake Superior. A mile the way the crow flys to Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. There is only 1 site, so you have the area to yourself. Pellet grill, tables, and chairs are available for your use. It would make a great base camp for spending time in the central upper peninsula. We purchased the property 2 years ago, and put a had it cleared we just got the building done and are adding in grass and other things, so I may be around putting in some work on the property, this wouldn't be anywhere near where you would be parked. Leashed dog friendly. Provide a dumpster for your trash.

Site 2, The Garden Site, is 100 feet from the stream and campers can drive to and park their vehicles at the site.
Site 3, Mountain View Cabin, includes an outhouse and sauna.
Sites have picnic tables, fire pits, and an outhouse.

The 2-foot wide stream provides water for washing, but is not considered potable, and use of filters or boiling water is recommended.

Heritage Hills isn't called Heritage Hills for nothing! It's situated on 21 acres of what was the original Wawonowin Country Club, a 9-hole golf course that was built in the early 1800s and then closed in the mid 1960s. And now we have a beautiful mix of hardwoods and pines, forests and fields with multiplied non-motorized trails accessible right off the property. The very popular RAMBA bike trails are literally an ‘stones throw’ away! Our biggest site, Fairway Field is big enough for group camping that horse campers love, and one site, the Homestead, with an electric hookup. We don’t have a dump station or trash cans so please pack in and pack out.
Phone signal is good throughout the area and we are close to civilization for necessities and only 20 minutes from Marquette. So much stuff to do in this area!

There was a great view of the lake and lots of nature all around! There are lots of cabins around so be sure you arrive at the correct one. The ground is full of clay and very red. There were a couple of big red beacon lights for atmospheric lighting that were sweet, plenty of room to set up tents.

I had such an incredible experience at Surf Camp—it truly was a delightfully enjoyable three-day adventure. From the stunning beach views to the many campfires each night and the relaxing sauna, everything came together to create the ultimate camping experience. It’s honestly hard to capture just how special this place is in a single review.
What really stood out, too, was the connection between camper and host. Communication was clear, thoughtful, and consistent from start to finish. They were attentive, quick to answer any questions, and genuinely receptive, which made the whole stay feel easy and welcoming.
I would absolutely recommend Surf Camp to anyone who has the chance to visit the Manistique area. It’s a place that sticks with you long after you leave.

Communication with Eli was prompt and efficient. All directions were very clear and thorough.
Road was plowed until the house just after the Surf Camp. The site itself was not plowed, but we were able to tuck the truck under some trees with little snow to get off the road.
Directions with sauna were very clear, thoroughly enjoyed the wood fired sauna! We used about 1.5 bundles to get it heated up in cold and snowy conditions.
We did not need the privy.
Property felt very private in the winter. Pups had the beach to themselves.

Such a beautiful, peaceful spot right on Lake Michigan! Tucked into a quiet cedar grove on the Garden Peninsula, the site offers a rare combination of off-grid tranquillity and direct access to the shoreline of Lake Michigan. The new wood-fired sauna was an absolute highlight, the perfect way to warm up after a swim! Waking up to the sound of waves, relaxing by the fire at night, and a true off-grid vibe. The fire-pit area in the trees provides a cosy, sheltered setting for an evening under the stars. There has been a lot of care put into this place.
If you’re looking for a beach-camp experience that feels more intimate and upgraded (thanks to the sauna!) rather than a busy campground, this spot is highly recommended. Ideal for folks who want to unplug, still have beach/morning water access, and enjoy a little extra luxury in the wild.

The Garden site at Possum Creek was perfect. It was gorgeous with the stream and Hogback right there. The site itself was nicely cleared yet tucked in. Shawn was a great host...friendly, helpful yet respectful of our wanting to find a little stillness. His directions about points of interest were spot on, including the rock-solid brew pub! Will certainly come back.

It was great! Chris is very friendly and has a wonderful space. The bathroom was nice and the sites were nicely spread out. I would definitely camp here again!
