Welcome to our little slice of heaven along the Grand River in Grand Haven, MI. Voted one of the best places to visit in '22 and '23. Our property is at the end of a private road and has been in the family for decades. We fondly refer to it as One Grand Place and we are excited to be sharing it with you.
We have 2 parcels of land. Each would be just for you and only you. It's like having your very own private property when you are here.
One parcel has only 1 RV site with a cement pad, parallel to the river. Can accommodate 1 RV up to 30' (NO Class A's allowed). 30/50/standard 110 electric and water hookup. Pump out is available for a fee.
At the far west end of the property is our second parcel with 1 very large grassy RV site along the river with 30 amp and standard 110 electric and water. RV up to 30' (NO Class A's). Pump out is available for a fee.
If you don't have an RV, no problem. Rent our elevated popup RV.
There is plenty of room to set up games, fish, play with the kids or the dogs, etc. What's not to like?
Property is adjacent to Connor Bayou County Park and surrounded by natural wetlands. So, we are a perfect place to unwind, chill, enjoy fresh air and picture perfect sunsets.
Boating, swimming, jet skis, kayaking, paddleboarding, fishing are just a few things to be enjoyed on the water. There's a public boat launch just a couple minute ride and Connor Bayou Park has a kayak specific boat launch. Or, you can also drop a kayak in at the very west end of our property right from shore.
Hiking, biking and wildlife/bird/eagle watching are also options. Lake Michigan beaches, various state/county parks, downtown Grand Haven's shops and restaurants are just a short drive away.
Holland is about 30 minutes south. PJ Hoffmaster State Park is 25 minutes North. If you are a thrill seeker, Michigan's Adventure Amusement and Waterpark is 40 minutes North in Muskegon. Grand Rapids is 40 minutes to the East. There are also many wineries, distilleries, ciders and craft beer in Southwest Michigan as well as "you pick" blueberries and many festivals in the summer. Bottom line....there is plenty of things to do and see during your visit. You can be as active or as chill as you want to be.

Our small place is a forested Tree house in a Michigan wooded neighborhood on Croton Pond with a spot for a small camper, plenty of tent space, has a private drive, camp style privacy toilet, waterfront access across the road (185 steps to the water front and small beach) and sleeps 3. We have a paddleboard that our renters can use and the lake is so peaceful in the morning. The Treehouse has a power cord for electricity and a table fan but no AC. Please bring your own bedding. Our special place is only 2 miles to the Dragon Trail which is a well known biking and hiking trail, the trail is about 50 miles around our beautiful lake and is a very stunning adventure! There is a great organic, hippy vibe breakfast spot nearby called Hit the Road Joes. They also have wood fired pizzas on Saturday evenings.
Another good, old school breakfast spot is Diner between the Dams.
The Pine Cone has a great ice cream selection and large menu of concession type food: hot dogs, chicken nuggets, fries, nachos, etc.
The Driftwood bar and restaurant on our lake (Croton Pond) has live music on the Saturdays and Sundays.

Cabins ARE SMOKE FREE and may not be used as kennels so please keep pets off furnature and don't leave them inside when you are gone. You must bring your own queen sheet set. Steam cleaning the mattress will be an extra charge.
Swimming beach is available in Lowell a few miles away.
Fishing rivers and lakes are also in the area. (live bait in Saranac)

We have about 40 acres and trails through the area for exploring. You just may come across some "forts" constructed by some of our grandchildren. There is a large fire pit and plenty of firewood for a minimal cost. (Large trash can full. ) If you listen in the evening, you are likely able to hear a couple of owls talking back and forth. Usually you can see some deer and maybe some turkeys. There are many old pines around the property, the last remnants of our Christmas tree farm.
There is no electricity in the cabin, but we do have two solar lights and some battery lights. If it's been rainy, the solar won't last as long as usual. If it's chilly, we do have a portable heater available.
We have cornhole game available upon request and some table games kept in cabin. If you want to go biking, there is a trail in town, about 5 miles away.

This fun property is just under 7 acres - butted up to another 12 acres of public land (and boat launch) with trails, boardwalk and a dock on 51 acre Lake Eleven.
The property is shared by (2) full-hook up RV sites and a cabin. If available, the cabin and sites may be rented together however the owners, Jim and Maria, use the cabin much of the summer leaving just the RV sites available.
The property is at mile market 13 of the Kal-Haven Trail - the midpoint. The Kal-Haven Trail is a biking, cross-country skiing, walking, running, snowmobiling - you name it, the trail that goes 34 miles from Kalamazoo to South Haven. Literally steps from the property and you are on the trail.
But you may not need to leave the property, with 6.3 acres of woods and field, with trail cut through PLUS the added public lands butted up to Tincan's property line, giving almost 20 acres to roam.
Each RV site - far enough apart to be separate, close enough if you and friends/family want to camp together, has a fire pit and fireplace. Each RV site offers water, 30|50AMP electrical and septic.
The dock may have availability for keeping you boat - please inquire. There are kayaks and some bikes (mostly teen and adult size) that may be used. These are shared amenities for the cabin and campsite guests and offered on a first come, first serve basis.
There are surprises galore around the property; big foots to be found tucked around the property, games, and overall just a fun place to be.
This was a run-down fishing cabin Jim and Maria lovingly brough back to life as a second home and they delight in sharing it. Jim often referred to it as "The Tincan" while working on it as it was - indeed, a tin shack and the name stuck.
Kate, your booking coordinator, helps Jim and Maria tend to the administrative side of getting the property booked and keeping the details in order. Before our forest was "owned," it belonged to the Odawa people. Once white settlers arrived and governments were established, land deeds were written. We traced those deeds back through the Oceana County Register of Deeds and found that larger tracts of land were owned by people from Chicago and California, which were later divided into smaller parcels.
Interestingly, one owner lost the property after failing to pay back taxes of $3.50, shortly after World War II. It is likely that he never returned.
In the mid-1900s, Ed Dewey was the owner. Today, we have a cabin on the east side of the 40 acres that was built by Ed, entirely constructed with oak. He had three sawmills there, each powered by the engines of old Studebakers. He cut and milled enormous oak trees, using the wood to construct crates for transporting cherries. Today, you can still see old oak crates on various farms, but they are slowly being replaced by plastic.
Ed never finished the little cabin, and the story goes that he died there.
The next owners were a couple from Inkster, near Detroit. Despite Ed leaving an acre of "yard art" all over, the place was used as a vacation home after a 50-foot long mobile home was placed near the cabin. As they aged, they sold off their property to us. First, we acquired the 20 acres where the Cozy Camper Cabin resides, then the 7 acres near Weaver Road and 44th, and finally, the remaining 13 acres with the cabin. We began purchasing the property in parcels in 1992 for $500 an acre and owned it all by 1998.
From 1998 to 2008, we removed the mobile home, cleaned up all the yard art, refurbished the cabin, added a garage, and built a new shed nearby. The Hipcamp shed was originally built in 1999 and has been used for storage until it was converted into a unique little place in the woods in 2021.
Over the years, our Forester has carefully managed the property. We have logged three times. The first round was to remove 75 huge oak trees. The second round involved culling mature poplar trees. The last time, we took out 276 mature oaks and beeches. A Woodsman spent a year cutting down the tops of the trees. Clearing these old growth trees revitalized the forest, as planned.
Today, there are over two miles of trails running throughout the property. Some were logging roads, while others were carved out over time. The land is flat to the north but hilly to the south, as these are forested sand dunes. There are approximately a million trees on the property, densely forested with many large "mother trees" such as oaks, beeches, maples, and pines. The poplar trees are growing rapidly, as they do. Wild cherry, sassafras, beeches, oaks, and maples are also growing quickly and thickly.
To the south, there are fenced-in asparagus fields and cherry orchards. To the north, on the other side of Weaver Road, is the privately owned Silver Lake Airport, which remains quiet most of the time. On the east side of our 40 acres, you'll find our cabin and buildings, and we kindly ask you to avoid wandering onto that side of the property. Signs will alert you when you get close.
To the west, there is a 20-acre section occasionally occupied by some "Dunners." The area is famous for Silver Lake State Park and the sand dunes, located about 2.5 miles northwest of us. Our neighbors in that area have dune buggies, and they sometimes drive around their property, creating more noise than we prefer. It's possible that you may encounter this during your visit, so please be aware.
Deer are abundant in the area, and in 2021, we spotted a porcupine for the first time, although we have occasionally seen evidence of their presence through bark-stripped maples. Raccoons come and go, while turkeys are frequent visitors at times. You can hear coyotes yipping away at night, and depending on the time of year and migratory season, you'll see lots and lots of birds.
We're pleased to report that there is no poison ivy on the property!
It is a beautiful place in the woods, not far from many entertaining activities suitable for both the young and old. Come and visit, but please be respectful of the land and our privacy while enjoying yours.

Inside our buildings, guests can enjoy a full kitchen with cookware and dishes, personal pantry and fridge storage, and common areas with a TV, gaming consoles, lounge seating, outlets, a pool table, board games, and ping pong. Guests can also use our free shelf, book exchange, instruments, and art supplies. We also have business grade fiber-optic Wi-Fi guests can use throughout our property.
Outside, guests are welcome to use our grills, picnic tables, hammocks, games, and communal firepit, or explore our wooded walking trails. Our outdoor areas are pet friendly. Guests also have access to our brand new on-site camp store and thrift store.

The Property & Your Stay
Our property is a secluded slice of wilderness where the only soundtrack is the rustle of the trees and the evening chorus of frogs. This is a pack-in, pack-out boondocking site.
The Setup: 100% dry camping. No hookups, no Wi-Fi, no distractions.
Privacy: Sites are well-spaced to ensure you aren't staring at your neighbor's rig. You’ll have the space to actually breathe.
Pond Access & Activities
The crown jewel of the property is our pristine, quiet pond. It’s just a short walk from the camping areas and serves as your playground for the weekend.
Fishing: Cast a line and enjoy some undisturbed catch-and-release fishing.
Paddling: Perfect water for kayaks and canoes. Bring your own boat, launch easily from the bank, and enjoy the glassy water at sunrise.
The Trails: Lace up your boots. We have dedicated nature trails winding through the property, perfect for morning walks, wildlife viewing, and birdwatching.

Note: Because we prioritize a raw, natural experience, your vehicle must be self-contained. You need to bring your own water, power (solar or quiet generators only during designated hours), and waste management.

Relax and unplug at our peaceful little retreat. This new cabin has a full size bed and lots of windows to let in the beautiful scenery. There is a fire pit, table, chairs, privy, and plenty of space for a tent and yard games. There is a second cabin available for rent on the property if interested for family or a friend retreat. This is an ideal location for those seeking to get off the grid and be surrounded by nature. Over 30 acres of trails to hike on site and only 2 miles from Newaygo.
You will enjoy a comfortable new full size mattress with bedding provided. Over 30 acres of maintained hiking trails are available. The fire pit area, with solar powered string lights, is the perfect place to relax around the campfire. There is a clean outhouse and water/sprayer available for rinsing off. This is an intentionally rustic site so guests can truly unplug from the daily rush of life.
You will enter from a private drive and follow the trail markers to the cabin. Other markers will guide you through the hiking trails on the property.
I live adjacent to the property and will be available by phone. I'm happy to answer any questions about the area and activities surrounding.
This is a great space for artists, writers and those looking for peace and space to relax amongst the tall pines and listen to the birds sing.
Newaygo is a charming little historic town with the Muskegon River flowing through. Visit the local shops and restaurants or explore the nearby trails and Manistee forest or spend time fishing or kayaking on the Muskegon river. The Dragon Trail is a popular biking trail featuring beautiful views of Hardy Pond.

My partner and I LOVED this place, we will definitely be returning. The yurt was really cozy and a nice walk away from the barn. It’s connected to the area where they plant flowers and veggies -and surrounding it is water. The yurt is behind some trees on a little island so there’s a lot of privacy and Christine and her 2 neighbors were all doing their own thing. We’d chat with them when we saw them and everyone and their dogs were really kind and welcoming. We loved sitting by the fire area right by our yurt at night - the stars were super vivid!! We loved exploring the nearby small neighborhoods and bought fruit from the local farmer’s market. We checked out a HUGE vintage store nearby and my partner found a perfect filing cabinet! (They let us reserve it and scooped it up on the way out). In the barn you will find many of Christine’s art pieces (either in the works or completed), there’s a sign encouraging you to create as well with upcycled tools. Keep in mind the barn is open to the outside word so you eventually settle in with the little critters you see from time to time. The area also had a colony of bees when we were there and got to meet the beekeeper! She said those were her “nice bees”, and they were! When you’re close by they inspect you very quickly and communicate back to the others if you’re a threat or not. It was AMAZING watching the bees do their thing. As Chicagoans, this was the perfect ACTUAL commune space we needed.

This beautiful remote cabin had everything we needed! So comfortable, private, and some of the things we forgot were there for our use (like s'mores skewers!). I was also surprised at the mini fridge which was really helpful for keeping food. The property is very secure and the trails were well maintained.

Ed and Pat created a truly amazing space to connect with nature and get away for a night. We enjoyed cooking steaks and veggies on the fire pit and being able to relax to the sounds of critters and wind thru the trees. Haven’t slept that good in a while with the windows open and light breeze. Worth the trip.

Glamping on Julie’s land was so peaceful and beautiful! The platform tent was set up with very nice air mattresses including all bedding, as well as ample firewood and a water jug with a pump. Made arrival a breeze for our family, especially since we didn’t need to set up a tent. Very clear and quick communication with the booking and any follow up questions. There’s also a beautiful wooded walking path along the river just minutes from the campsite. Highly recommend!

We love Ed's place and find ourselves wanting to come back again and again! There js plenty of room for our dogs to run and it is extremely peaceful. The toilet is well maintained and theres even an outdoor shower if you're into that sort of thing while you're camping 😊 20/10 reccommend a visit in either the cabins or tent sites!

We had a wonderful time at this cabin! It’s beautifully built and everything was well stocked and maintained. Cathy was very hospitable and the pie was incredible. We loved cooking dinners over the fire and walking all the trails. We saw chipmunks, a baby deer, lots of birds, and a fox. Definitely recommend this place!

The cabin was clean and cozy, a great getaway to unplug and relax. First night was all to ourselves and it was truly peaceful and perfect for us and the dogs. You have a decent amount of privacy with the trees filled in you can’t really see the campers or other cabin. We met coco Ed’s off leash dog, she is so sweet and made her rounds to come say hi, play with our dogs, and hang out on the porch. Ed has some essential things but you should bring your own utensils and kitchenware to be safe, if not you are not far from town and can pick stuff up that you’ll need, convenient location. He has supplies like slippers, gloves for the wood burner, lantern, fairy lights, strainer, can opener, pocket knives, propane single burner for FLUIDS ONLY, dog bowl, potable water, bug spray(you’ll need it), 2 plates, a bowl, extra blankets and 2 pillows, as well as wood for the wood burner. He will come around and replenish the water in a cooler dispenser down by the bathrooms, you must pack up your trash, plenty of wood for a Bon fire, and if you can brave it the outdoor seasonal cold shower is rejuvenating. Your dogs are allowed off leash and there are multiple little trails on the property that will lead you back to the property. Outhouse was clean and stocked, even had a night light inside. Ed was great host, our last day it was down pouring and he was considerate to let us take our time getting packed up. We loved this lil getaway and we definitely will remember this place and come back.

We absolutely adored our stay in the treehouse and were thrilled to watch the farm animals munching away in all the different pastures! Plus, being JRR Tolkien fans, it was a real treat to see the hobbit hole under construction! And with the lake right there, we had a blast getting our paddle boards in the water!
