Mid-June update: Firefly season is here and it looks to be another good year, although we havent seen biblical numbers like the past years yet. Soon? Under next week's full moon?? The river is at about 85% peak summer quality this week. Very warm and ready for lounging, floating or kayaking.
A few details about our sites in the general camping area: Sites 1, 3, 8,9,10,11 have 13x20 shade sails, 2,4,5,6,7 have 10x13 shade sails that are also weatherproof. For larger groups, I recommend any of the sites with the larger shade sails as they have a bit more space than the others.
Enjoy the nearly direct access to the CO Canal Historic Park and the kid friendly, serene stretch of the Potomac River we border. Choose from 11 similar sites available for your camping pleasure in our clover filled bottomland as well as our Hilltop sites for maximum privacy, exclusivity and star gazing potential. The surrounding old growth forest makes for a great hiking and biking as well as a very accessible and kid friendly cave to explore. All sites now have either 10x13 or 13x20 shade sails available to keep the afternoon sun at bay: recommended.
We have two kayaks on site free of charge. We have some life vests, but if you have your own, bring those along. The river's main beach located between sites 7 and 8, is shaded/filtered sun all day long while our smaller beach at site 1 is sunny most of the day and affords some of the nicest river lounging via a rock ledge that spans
4wd or All Wheel Drive are recommended. If it's been relatively dry, single wheel cars are 100% fine. We have ways to mitigate most weather events.
Please pre-order firewood and/or shade sails via a message to me when booking your stay and save the 18% "booking fee" or add them via the "extras" section for your site so I can have it waiting for you. $40 buys you a long night's ++ burn worth of well-seasoned hardwood. Cash venmo paypal zelle all accepted upon arrival. If ordering firewood using the "extra" feature, 1 load is $20.00 which is a 1/2 nights supply. Order 2 if you want a full night/morning supply. Nice place, it is very centrally located to Baltimore and DC. Many people in the past have ended up staying here for long term stays as traveling nurses or physical therapists. Rates will be cheaper for month-to-month leases.
Also access is available to nearby hiking areas within walking distance with piney run creek. There is a great park nearby called piney run park within 10 min driving distance. Very nice professional setting.

With 15,000 wooded acres, Pocomoke River State Park’s claim to fame is its stand of loblolly pine and cypress swamps bordering a wild and scenic river. Taneytown, 1836, has an extraordinary antique store that is a delight to browse; as well as fine dining, drive through, an open air beer garden and close by grocery stores. Homemade ice cream is found at Baugher's and Hoffmans in Westminster. Baugher's Orchard has "pick your own" available. There is a mini farm animal petting zoo at the orchard.

Experienced horse riders can book horse rides for $50/hr. per person. Inexperienced riders must be led using a lead rope. Signed waivers and provided helmets are required.
Our in-ground, unheated swimming pool is open mid-April to end October. $60/hr.

There are three campsites on the farm, one by the pond and two by the river. Very secluded and all sites include , firepit, log bench,
and a picnic table that seats 3-4 people. PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN FIREWOOD. AT THIS TIME WE ARE OUT FOR THE SEASON.
The original river campsite has been moved to a more remote spot so that all campers can access the pond and pier to the river.
Farm encompasses nearly 300 acres on the Patuxent River. There is access to the river on high tide via our private creek (must bring your own canoe or kayak) and 150 acres of marshland. Over 100 acres of woods to walk through and a pond for wildlife watching.

We just spent a wonderful weekend at this private campground about 30 minutes from Ocean City, MD, and it was exactly what we needed — a peaceful nature retreat with all the right comforts! The property perfectly balances rustic charm with modern conveniences. We loved having access to clean, well-maintained bathrooms and incredibly hot showers that felt like a luxury after a day outdoors.
The owner was fantastic — super friendly, flexible, and genuinely helpful with anything we needed. It made our stay so much more enjoyable knowing we could reach out easily.
What truly made this place special was the adorable animal crew that runs the property! The goats are absolute stars — so friendly and curious that they came right up to us for pets. The chickens and the very cute duck were just as charming, wandering around and adding so much personality to the grounds. We couldn’t stop smiling every time we saw them!
The location is ideal too — close enough to enjoy a day at the beach in Ocean City or Assateague Island, then come back to relax by a fire while nature sings you to sleep. Whether you’re tent camping, in an RV, or staying in one of the mini cabins, this spot has something for everyone. Highly recommend for families, couples, or anyone looking to unplug and recharge. The site was level and easy to back in. Hook ups were great. Used our 50amp to 30amp converter, since that site is 50amp only. On Parkersburg Rd, there is a one lane bridge with 40ft limit for vehicle and trailer. If too long, plan to use easy alternate routes to site. It is worth it! The reason is sharp turn appears to make it unlikely to make if longer. We turned left onto Parkersburg Rd when leaving with the travel trailer to Frostburg. The view of the hills across the valley were great. Easy and short walk up hill from site to GAP trail. Quiet as well. Our dog had a blast. Frostburg was minutes away and Cumberland was a simple 20 minute ride. We would stay again.

2 nights at Strawberry Crossroads
We really enjoyed cabin #2. There's nothing fancy, but that air conditioning worked great. It was super quiet especially at night. It's an older camp ground but we really liked it. We especially loved the fact that there was a fully functional blast from the past merry-go-round. This thing is painted like a strawberry to match the name of the farm. It spins as though it was installed just yesterday instead of maybe 40 years ago. It's a little dated, but we highly recommend it.

This was such a great trip! We had to reschedule twice for weather and it was no problem. We came on a Sunday when few folks were there and Greg upgraded us to a site right next to the path to the water. (Site 8) we enjoyed the water and being on the C&O and definitely want to bring our bikes next time. A great place to take a group - lots of space and easy hosts. Provided great campfire wood and two camp cats to hang out with!

Had a great time at Strawberry Crossroads! It’s very affordable and close to the beach, so it’s a great spot if you want to camp without spending a fortune. The lake was full of snapping turtles, fish, frogs, and plenty of other wildlife, which made it a lot of fun to explore. Best of all, there were almost no mosquitoes, which was a huge bonus. We’ll definitely be back!

Absolutely one of the best camping experiences I’ve ever had! As a single mom, this place was perfect! It was safe and family friendly, clean bathroom/showers, that were clearly cleaned daily (I got up at 6 and they were fresh!), and the water?! Seriously I hate when you stay at a hotel or something and your hair feels like straw because of the water, Strawberry Crossroads not the case! My daughters and I were amazed after every shower how soft our curly hair felt!!! Huge bonus!! And the goats and chickens were awesome 😊 and then best of all TJ! Awesome host! Literally message a question and he walks up behind you with what you need!!!! Like whaaat?! Super helpful and attentive to campers needs, delivered our firewood, brought me an air pump for my tires, answered all my questions, what an awesome experience! So grateful to have found this gem! Chuck’s sites are wonderful! Lovely view of the valley! Being right on the GAP trail and the WMSR tracks is what sold us and it didn’t disappoint! Chuck is an outstanding host. He provided some info on things to do in the area and checked in with us to make sure all was well.
We fit just fine on the bridge with our 25ft TT. There are other options if you’re larger or just not comfortable. The bridge is plenty wide, it’s the hard turn on the north side of the bridge.
A suggested activity would be to book a rail bike ride DOWN from Frostburg and catch the train back. Frostburg is an easy walk west on the GAP.
Sites being full hook up is wonderful! Hard find here on Hipcamp.
My only complaint is Chuck doesn’t have more sites like this to spend time at.
If you’re into walking, biking or even have the slightest interest in trains, this is the place to book!

Loved my stay here. TJ is a great host. He was extremely accommodating and responsive with in minutes to my messages. The property is beautiful. It is the perfect quiet getaway, close to the beach and so much more. I enjoyed my stay and will be back.

Overall, this is a beautiful place with an amazing atmosphere and one of the most incredible sunsets we have seen. The campsite feels very private and secluded — you cannot see the neighboring campsites from this spot. The other campsites are located a bit farther away, although if there is a large group nearby, you may still hear some noise. Overall, the location feels peaceful and separate from others.
We came here hoping to do some fishing, but unfortunately, the weather was extremely hot during our stay, and the fish were not very active, so we didn’t have much luck. The lake does have noticeable tides and water level changes.
For swimming, the lake is not the best option because the bottom is very muddy. However, the natural surroundings, privacy, and overall vibe of the place make it a wonderful camping destination.
We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend this spot for anyone looking for a relaxing getaway surrounded by nature.

This Hipcamp was a great stay! Firepits, hot showers, and clean toilets. Can’t get much better than that at a campsite. We stayed in the open field which still offered some privacy in our van by the treeline. It’s a quiet peaceful plot of land with great location and access to nearby beaches.
