Great spot, less than 10 minutes from the AT. They provided easy access to wood and fire starters and we used a bundle that we pre-purchased online. The table and benches were great too!

Good level site on a hillside. It drained nicely after a rain. Fire out and benches are a nice amenity. Far away but close to some great towns. No cell service but that was always really nice. Phil stopped by to say hello. Great stay.

The host met us at the gate and was very friendly and accommodating. Since the location wasn't full he gave us a choice of whatever site we liked. He stopped over and made sure we had everything very needed and gave us directions to the bike path. We very much enjoyed talking with him and would definitely stay again! Very secluded and quiet.

This stay was the perfect stay. The only thing I wish is to have had more time here. It was everything and more. Juanita is the best host, she went above and beyond and over succeeded past my expectations. I was greeted with a gift that I’ll always appreciate. Comus Sky farm is beautiful. It has everything you need. She has a beautiful Airbnb on the property I’m definitely coming back to book another stay.

Spent 3 nights at the Alpaca site. Had a great time. Set up about 6 feet from the fence line and had Alpaca TV my whole stay. Easy to get to Harpers Ferry. No sewer hookup but the KOA is very close and allows anyone to use their dump site for $20. Great communication from host Kim both before and during stay.

3 nights at Fiddlers Green Farm

We had an awesome time. We stayed on the bear creek side and it was better then we thought. Very clean and plenty of wood. The owner treated us to an unexpected "bonfire". Lol.. lol. We were able to relax near the creek and set up the tents just 20 ft from the creeks edge. Hopper(the dog) was cool too, he checked on us a few times. The owner was great, very responsive, very laid back, very cool. We will definitely book again. And most importantly, the bathroom was super clean and toilet paper and wet wipes stocked.

We had a great time on our first camping trip with our young daughter. The spot was set up nicely and it was quiet and peaceful. The eggs from Victoria and Phil’s farm were amazing, highly recommended! Overall it was a very good experience.

Weekend Trip to Comus Sky Farm

Beautiful land - plenty of space to setup tent. Host was nice and provided us with pots, spatula and firewood. Flush toilet is available in the barn as well. Come prepared with a lot of blankets and beddings since it gets really windy and lower temperature weather make it cold. Running hot water is also available in bathroom here. No showers or picnic tables available. Hiking trails are there that lead to small pond and stream. Host has some horses that you can pet and visible from camping sites. We did not see other animals around but kids loved seeing horses. Overall, great experience for cooking, start fire, setting up tents, hike and host’s support. Recommended for getaways specially when it is just 15 minutes away from city and stores.

This is my second time staying here and I loved it each time! A lot of fun activities to do with a group and/or solo at the site. Kayaking and paddle boarding are available as well as an easy nature hike with lots of nature to enjoy. Portapotties are well kept and stocked with essentials. Very clear view of the stars at night. Greg is very kind and helpful and has made each trip a success. Of course, Corky and Tula are the best cat-hosts as well! Will be back again!

Absolutely fantastic! Beautiful, peaceful, and all you would ever need is on site. We rented both the campsite and shelter. The view is amazing, there is a PortaJohn, solid places for tents, hammock, etc.

The Crow’s Nest was great. A perfect little spot next to the river. We had some rainy weather on Saturday, so it was nice to be able to use the furnished cabin/shed during the rain. We plan on going again.

Overall, we enjoyed camping on Greg’s land. It was a a great space for our large group of 18 adults to gather. Pros: easy access to water/river, we were able to fish (didn’t catch anything), we had access to fire wood, fast communication, good directions to the land, Greg met us to answer questions. He was friendly. Cons: only one port-a-potty site near where wood is stored which is a very far walk from our campsite (especially in dark at night), the roadway to enter the property can use an upgrade (extremely steep with 2 huge holes -requires 4wd when wet), 5 large wolf dogs on the property were “walked” by owner in the morning and I witnessed them poop near our site (was not cleaned up), campsites are fairly close together (great if with family—not so great for spaces from other campers) Overall we enjoyed it. We visited crystal grottoes caverns and a local vineyard. The walking patch behind the property is pretty.

The perfect place to get away from everything for a few days. Its close enough to everything to get last minute items, and yet private enough to feel cozy and safe. I love this place and will be back again!

Note: For the winter months we are closed, we reopen in march. The furthest we are open at any given moment is about six months. We close when hunting season comes in during the fall. Description of camp: This is not a glampsite! There are limited utilities here. No Drinking water, just water for the fire. There is a self serve firewood store, you may also forage dead wood. Here only one group may camp at a time. The campsite is a big level hilltop clearing surrounded by acres of woods. There is stone driveway that leads to the site that gets you back into the woods. The driveway is wide enough for trucks, trailers, vans, etc. Since the site is up high it gets a great breeze which helps on warm days and gets good cell service. The campsite gets great sun and has shaded areas along the sides that make for good tent pitching. We have had people set up hammocks, tents, tarps, or camp in their vehicle. We provide a privy (outhouse), an outdoor showerroom/changing room, picnic tables, and a metal fire pit with grill rack that you can put in the fire pit if you wish to cook/grill over it. The woods are hilly so biking is not recomended. On the property we have 2+ miles of hiking trails. PLEASE feel free to contact us for any questions. Also please look at our pictures for a better idea of what we offer. Nearby Activities: A short drive from here will take you to Gettysburg, York, or Hanover. Codorus park offers great hiking and is next to a lake. There are many excellent restaurants and brewpubs nearby, including the award winning Warehouse Gourmet Bistro and Brewpub. For more information read our activities section to find out what other things we provide or have nearby that you can do. Pricing: We have a weeknight discount for the site which is 29 dollars (Sunday-Thurdsay nights). Friday night and Saturday night we charge 35 dollars. We are within an hour of Gettysburg and within an hour and a half of DC if you're planning a day trip. We have a prime central location with close access to so many things to do. This beautiful property is nestled in a narrow valley between Elk Ridge and South Mountain with incredible sunrises, sunsets and starlit night skies. Walk out to the fishing pond, or follow the trails around the pastures to meet the cattle grazing in our pastures. We have Scottish Highlands and Black Angus grazing as well as Alpacas. We also have beautiful peacocks on the property. We are a working farm so expect to see tractors and you may even see us baling hay or tending to the cattle. You may smell some animal smells which we work at keeping to a minimum but again, we are a working farm. It’s a true farm experience. Also, please keep in mind that during warm weather you may encounter some bugs. Gnats and flies are always a possibility and of course at times they can be worse than others. That can always be a possibility when camping or being outdoors. Bring bug spray, citronella and anything else to help with insects. If you stay by the pond you may hear frogs which personally I enjoy hearing but some may not. Consider bringing a generator and run a fan if you think the sound might bother you or some way to block sounds. We enjoy talking to our guests so feel free to stop us for a chat. At the RV sites you have 30 and 50 amp power as well as water. All the water spickets are potable and drinkable.

Enjoy one of our four large, beautiful sites with friends or family. The South, North and Rocks sites offer great privacy and seclusion. The Bridge site offers unique charm and close proximity to river, creek and bridge, and has the best WiFI access. Plenty of greenery between sites. You should mostly only see neighbors when going to bathhouse. On our property you will find, four large camp sites, Stoney Creek Country Store on the river, Pavillion next to the store, Cacapon River Outfitters behind the store, smallground campground next to pavillion, giant swing, bathhouse closest to riverside/campground, and a few (5) other trailers (mobile homes) further behind the store/bathhouse. The dead-end road that goes through our property leads to another riverside community that is sparsely developed. Kayak, boat or tube (we offer Tubing and Canoes). Fish or watch wildlife. Please read their descriptions and book the one best for you! We encourage guests to bring dogs, however dogs must be kept on leads when on site or on leashes when on walks. There are no exceptions to this rule to ensure the safety of all of our guests. All sites include an allotted amount of free firewood, miles of hiking trails, and use of communal facilities including a hot shower and flush toilet. Tall Oaks Campsite: A small private site and is our only rustic style site, so no water or electricity, designed maximum 6 people with parking for 3 cars on site and space for 4 average size tents. This site has a picnic table, portable toilet, scenic overlook, hammock, fireplace, a bench and charcoal grill. Twisted Oak Campsite: A medium-sized luxury private site includes potable water and electricity on site, designed for maximum 8 guests with parking for 4 cars on site and has space for several tents. This site has a picnic table, portable toilet, scenic overlook, hammock, fireplace, benches, charcoal grill, and on-site string lights. Red Maple Campsite: A large luxury private site that includes potable water and electricity on site, designed for a maximum 10 guests with on-site parking space that is 90ft long and 20ft wide, for an RV or 6-8 cars and overflow parking for several more cars. It is designed to be backed into with an RV and then pulled out of. This site can handle several tents and has two picnic tables, two portable toilets, a scenic overlook, hammock, fireplace, benches, a charcoal grill, and on-site string lights. Aspen RV Campsite: A medium private luxury drive through site great for RVs, rooftop tents, pop ups or camper vans. This site includes potable water and electricity on site, designed with water and electric hookups for a single camping vehicle, maximum 6 people. This site is a drive through site, so guests don’t have to back in or out. This site also has a picnic table, portable toilet, scenic overlook, hammock, fireplace, charcoal grill, and a bench.

The Byrd's Nest on the River

~ Voted West Virginia's No. 1 HIPCAMP, three years in a row!! ~ The Byrd's Nest is a river front, primitive campsite on the scenic Cacapon River in Great Cacapon, WV. The property is very secluded, but only 2 hrs from D. C. and Baltimore. The space can accommodate 5 tents comfortably or a few small campers (w/o hookups). Please note- I only book one group at a time. You'll have plenty of privacy! Spend your day bird watching on the river deck, put up your hammock and chill, go hiking or mountain biking at Cacapon State Park, take the kayaks out and paddle around, go fishing, or take a float trip. I can provide info on put in/take out spots depending on how long you'd like to float. I have 3 kayaks available for your use, or BYO if you'd like to venture further outside of the property lines. There is one big fire ring for cooking and/or bonfires, along with a large stationary stand up charcoal camp grill. There is also a small communal shed down at camp that contains extra camping supplies, etc.. feel free to use use and put back and or/ contribute to it! :) This spot is close by to Berkeley Springs, Paw Paw Tunnel, Cacapon State Park, and other nature preserves. More hiking, biking, restaurants, spas, antiquing- all within a beautiful 20 minute drive if you wish to venture out. There is a cabin on the property. I will more often be home than not, I will communicate with you about that around your stay. Sometimes I"ll come down to the river frontage if I drop in for a float .Also, we all get around on four wheelers and UTV's. So you will hear them from time to time. If I am home, please feel free to come up if you have any concerns/questions or to say hi! :) *Please note, you can normally get to this site without a 4 wheel drive vehicle. However, when the river is high it will sometimes flood the low water bridge where it crosses the Cacapon. If this is the case during your stay, I will provide all necessary information regarding projected river levels and directions. I will also offer a full refund if the bridge is impassable. The campground is situated in the wooded area on the back of 27 acre horse farm which is known as "The Stables at Mezza Luna." There is Wi-Fi to all the sites. Every year in the spring there are 4-6 Thoroughbred foals born that eventually will become racehorses. They live on the farm until they are 2 years old and then they go off to begin their racing career. In the daytime, when you are not sitting around your campfire, you can walk the fence lines and visit with the Mares and Foals or just watch them frolic in the fields. Hint! "They love peppermints, carrots and apples." Who knows, you might get to meet a future Kentucky Derby winner. For the energetic campers and kids there are also lots of trails that you can walk or hike on and there is a small stream the kids can play in. There also is a playground with swings, monkey bars, seesaw and trampoline. There is a dumpster in front of the barn for you to place your trash.
