A safe place to stay on the way

1 site · RV, Tent1 acre · Topsham, ME
Lovely forest behind our home, available to travelers for tenting or RV. A safe place to stay as you're stopping through. Exactly 4.8 miles from the 295 off-ramp and Route 1. A private wooded lot on a beautiful road with farms and woodland cradled by the Cathance and Muddy Rivers which flow onward to Merrymeeting Bay, the Kennebec, and the ocean beyond. Some road noise from Middlesex road during commuting times that quiets down for sleeping. Topsham is lovely and I'm grateful to live here and share this space with travelers! Note that the service fee goes to Hipcamp and I wish I could remove it. Learn more about this land: Available to travelers for tenting or RV. A safe place to stay as you're stopping through. Total property size is 3.5 acres. Midcoast Maine has an endless bounty of treasures for visitors in all seasons. Hiking, biking, boating, history, art, swimming, food, and cultural events with beautiful nature surrounding it all.  The Tarbox Preserve, a Brunswick-Topsham Land Trust property with hiking and skiing, is 2 lots up the road. Head of Tide park with a small waterfall is 2.2 miles to the west. Grocery: Our towns (Topsham and Brunswick) have several grocery stores: Hannaford, Shaw's, Walmart/Target grocery, and a wonderful natural foods store Morning Glory Natural Foods.  We have many farm stands with organic and locally grown produce closely nearby - ask us to help you locate them! Food: Brunswick is restaurant and brewery heaven! Amazing beers, wood fired pizza, sushi, Thai, Vietnamese, Greek, German, Colombian street food, Filipino, deli, Fusion and more! Also check out Reny's - A Maine Adventure for your needed supplies. Water and respite available here for a day or two, if this area is your destination or if you're on the road toward an adventure. A single private site. We are not a campground, this is the back part of our land that we hope to offer as respite and safety for travelers looking for this kind of place to stay. We give absolute privacy to campers in the hours 4pm-11am. Please consider that we might be on the lower property during the middle of the day: 11am-4pm, which matches most of our visitors needs as they are using the property as an evening and morning stopover. Please visit the Maine Forest Service Fire Danger Report if you are considering requesting a campfire. Fires are not allowed when the fire danger is High through Extreme. We will talk about fire safety if the danger level is Moderate. Thanks for being safe! https://www.maine.gov/dacf/mfs/wildfire_danger_report/index.html

Woodland hide-away

1 site · RV2 acres · Damariscotta, ME
Wherever we go people either say "I love Maine!" or "I've always wanted to go to Maine!" This naturally wooded lot, with a few human and critter neighbors, is a perfect place to park your RV and enjoy the beauty of Mid-Coast Maine. It is located in the middle of the Pemaquid Peninsula, home to Maine's most famous lighthouse: it’s on the U.S. quarter. This is a great spot from which to explore beaches (8 miles), canoeing and kayaking (2 miles), state and national parks, and hiking trails (8 miles). There are great restaurants, shops, summer theater, art studios and antique markets in nearby Damariscotta and all along the Maine coast. Throughout the summer there are lobster fests, music fests, fairs and even a Pumpkin Regata (in Oct) when the fall foliage is at it's peak. At times the ranger service prohibits camp fires. We will try to let you know but it’s a good idea to verify for yourselves to be sure. For stays of a week or more we provide trash pick up. For stays of 10 days or more, ask about a discount.

Camp Smiling Pine

4 sites · RVs, Tents30 acres · Gardiner, ME
Beautiful waterfront tent sites. Very secluded, private campsites along Cobbosseecontee Stream/River. Many hidden natural gems, trails, and paths. Snowmobile trails are located throughout the land for your winter adventures. Campsites are very unique and have individual access with private water frontage and are separated by a heavily wood shorefront. Check out the real Smiling Pine located on the way to your site Cobbossee Stream is "the key to the entire lake system of Kennebec County." It was part of an Indian trail running from Gardiner on the Kennebec to Moosehead Lake. The last tribal trip down from Canada to the sea was made in 1796, perhaps by way of the old "aboriginal highway" through Cobossee Stream and Pond. Long before the white man's arrival, the braves of the Abenaki tribes returned each spring to favorite fishing stations near river falls and rapids. One such station, used by the Sturgeon (Cabassa) families of the Kennebec Indians, was located above the Gardiner falls on Cobboseecontee ("Land where the sturgeon are taken") Stream. There the men came, accompanied by a few squaws to cook meals and smoke the fat salmon and sturgeon speared as they leaped over the falls on their way upstream to spawn.

1 site · RV, Tent20 acres · Whitefield, ME
Centrally located in MidCoast (just 20 minutes from Route 1), out in the country you'll find a "Country Getaway" situated on over 16 acres. A large field borders mostly wooded land with an old farmhouse that dates back to the late 1700's. Rumored to have been a place for travelers to stop for a hot meal and/or some shut eye before heading back out on their journey. There was an orchard here, along with a cider press and the first town meeting was also held in the main house. Come enjoy the calm, quiet air, filled with natures soothing sounds as you're enchanted by the blinking fireflies of the night.
