This stop was perfect! Alice did a great job of giving her guests privacy on their campsite and also a community feel around the fire. She stopped by and was so kind and recommended great spots for photography. Myself and the other guests there agreed it was our favorite Hipcamp spot yet. Thank you for everything!

I can’t say enough great things about this spot! My dog and I stayed for two and a half months and easily could have stayed twice as long.
-The location is perfect — tucked in a residential area that offers plenty of privacy and peace, yet surrounded by friendly neighbors so it never feels isolated. You’re close to everything: most Acadia trails on Mount Desert Island are within a 25-minute drive, with many even closer (10-15 minutes). Bar Harbor is just 10 minutes away, offering great restaurants, shops, boat tours, and more.
-The Wi-Fi is fast and reliable — I work remotely full-time from my rig and never had a single issue, even with constant Zoom and Teams video meetings.
-Scott, the host, is fantastic — friendly, responsive, and genuinely welcoming, with excellent local recommendations.
-It’s also a dog-friendly spot. There’s plenty of grassy space for short walks, and the lawn was mowed weekly, which I really appreciated.
-The full hookups were in excellent condition and worked perfectly. There’s even a garden hose attached to the water line for convenience.
-Parking was a breeze — the site is spacious and easy to maneuver into no matter the size of your rig. I live in a 30-foot Airstream and had no trouble backing in at all.
Overall, this was one of my favorite stays — private, convenient, well-maintained, and hosted by someone who truly cares. Highly recommend!

Nice camping setup, with a dishwashing station, fire ring, picnic bench with umbrella, and a cart to wheel in bags from the parking lot. All to share among the several campsites. Host also has camping equipment to rent at a good rate (tents, sleeping bags), which allayed concerns in case anything failed.

I loved my stay at Chickadee Hollow. I stayed here as a solo traveller for two nights in October to visit Acadia National Park during fall.
Alice is so lovely and a wonderful host. She was super responsive and a great communicator prior to booking and during my stay. Alice was super welcoming and helped me with a few special requests as I didn't have all the gear I needed.
The site itself is lovely and well set-up, and you can tell Alice is putting in the time to make it a super enjoyable stay for all her guests. She was really inclusive making sure I had met others staying there and also invited me to activities in town.
It is only about a 5-10 minute drive to Ellsworth which has everything you need - shops, restaurants, pubs, fuel etc. It's about 40-50 minutes drive to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park so it was a great place to base myself to visit these.
There is so much to see and do in the area. I highly recommend hiking the main trails in Acadia, Jordan Pond and Schoodic Peninsula, visiting Ellsworth, Bar Harbor and Bass Harbor - these are popular, and for good reason, but there is so much else to explore! If you need any tips or advice Alice can help with that too.

Julia’s place is everything that is described. The pictures are accurate- it really is that peaceful and quiet. It was very private just as promised, but with easy access to primary roads. A really nice touch was the firewood that she provided. All the necessary amenities were there.

We loved our night at Alice’s! The site was really well organized and accommodating for multiple parties. There was a picnic table set up and a sink for washing dishes. Me, my partner, and our pup were able to grab a spot that was slightly hidden from the communal area so we had a little extra privacy. We had a tent but our space would’ve been perfect for a hammock too!
The site is conveniently located pretty close to downtown Ellsworth and only about 30 minutes to the Hulls Cove Visitor Center at Acadia. We only stayed one night but would definitely come back!

Loved this campsite! I was lucky enough to enjoy the site alone but it’s definitely a great space to share with others. Host was super kind and very responsive if I needed anything, but with the site just a quick drive to Acadia and an even quicker drive to town, I had everything I needed nearby. If your looking for something a bit low tech but comfortable this is a fantastic site.

I loved camping here! Alice was beyond awesome, I booked last minute she still came and met me and toured me around everything even though it was 9 pm. My headlamp was dead and I didn’t have the right cable, so she lent me her flashlight, went and found a cable for me and lent me that & a charging block for the night! I had the spot all to myself and the stars were breath taking. I slept so well & in the morning went over for a tour of her tiny home and got to learn all about her process. The site has a beautiful fire pit area, pots & pans to use & water and soap for dishes, and an outhouse. 10/10 would recommend camping here! Thank you for everything Alice 😊

Hillside Campsite South is incredibly convenient for anyone wanting access to Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor! There are two sites next to each other that are spacious and level with easy access in and out. The host Scott is very helpful and quick to respond to any questions. The site itself is actually part of a hotel in Bar Harbor, so you have access to the laundry facilities and pool at the hotel. Some folks may not like that the water pressure can vary (not sure if that's dependent on if the neighbors were using water, but there were times when the pressure would drop very low) and garbage needs to be taken to a dumpster about 5 minutes away (not a big deal). Otherwise, you can walk or bike into Hull's Cove on sidewalks and even access the Carriage roads of Acadia! Highly recommend this site!

Cranberry RV site was great! It was very private and quiet...just what was needed. We enjoyed exploring the Harpswell area... Orr's island and especially Bailey Island, simply beautiful.

After staying in Acadia national park busy Campgrounds it was so nice to come here and unwind with lots of space and privacy with full hook ups. It was close to great hiking and sightseeing. We enjoyed Baileys Island just a short drive away. Julia was very responsive, welcoming, and accomodating.

3 nights at Porcupine Creek Rustic Camping
This was one of the best camp sites I’ve ever stayed at. Cathy and Jeff were so kind and greeted us at the site even when traffic made us late for check in. Even though we had campers directly to the left of us, the site was spaced out/secluded enough that you could barely notice. The campsite came equipped with everything you could need, firewood (& starter material), bug zapper racket, lights, covered picnic table, fire pit with a grill, non-potable water, and even shower bags. Speaking of showers, the bathroom facilities were so nice! Our hosts were also always available in case we needed anything. Can’t recommend this place enough! Thanks Jeff and Cathy!
