2 nights at Souhegan Shores

Bob and Tini were great hosts and went out of their way to make the experience excellent. Because of the wet weather, the mosquitoes were fierce, but Bob provided enough wood, without charge, to help keep the fires going. The site is clean, quiet, and feels remote, though it's not too far from town. Definitely recommended.

1 night at Birch And Pine

Private, quiet, wooded camp site. Close to local attractions. Host is very friendly and responsive to questions and concerns. I would definitely recommend visiting this location.

1 night at Storm Meadows

This was our second time staying on Mark’s property. It is very private, clean and quiet. Mark is an excellent host. He is very responsive. We are hoping to have the opportunity to stay on his property in the future.

Weekend Trip to Souhegan Shores

We love staying at Bobs campsites along the Souhegan River. Group of 4 adults, an 11month old baby, and one pup enjoyed a late May weekend at campsite #1. Although it rained for a good portion, the huge tarp over the picnic table was incredibly helpful! We set up an ez-up but didn't end up using it as intended over the picnic table, but put it just off to the side acting as a baby corral while we cooked meals at the site. We also fit an SUV, truck camper, and tent on the site. Loved the sound of the rushing river, made even higher by all the rain. So peaceful it felt like we were alone in the woods, even with the horse pasture on the other side of the fence. Ticks were bad this time around but we checked ourselves often. As always, we love the grate over the firepit for cooking, as well as the option to purchase firewood on site!

Could not ask for a better place to tent camp.. Great people and everything went perfect. I would stay here again and again if it wasn't so far from home.

The site was at a quiet spot at the farm. Max made sure we had enough firewood the entirety of my stay. There are a couple nice trails accessible from the site which was great. He also allows pets off leash which is fantastic.

We loved Bob and Tini’s land! There were well marked signs so you wont be able to miss it. Very spacious campsite with chairs and picnic table. It has been raining for the past few days so the river was rushing and was nice to hear at night. Everything exceeded our expectations. Definitely one of the best hip camps I’ve been to so far!

Weekend Trip to Leyden’s Regeneration Sanctuary

Was alone all weekend. Listen to the birds and the owls talking at night. Rained on and off so the fire was important. They have a large fire pit. Next to the winery so next time we will plan that as part of the days events

I loved the site we had for our tent, we were able to pick our own since there was no other campers at the time! It was very private and a beautiful land. The host was extremely helpful and welcoming!

The site and the hosts exceeded our expectations. Perfect to relax and reset from the hustle and bustle of life. At first, I was a bit concerned with the privacy of the site. In the photos it looked like the host’s site was nearby but once we got there we were so pleased by how private the site was. We even forgot that we were on someone’s property. The site was clearly placed very strategically on the land. On top of the privacy, it has a great view of the sunrise and has enough shade from the trees for the hottest time of the day. Our dog was able to be off leash and he enjoyed the freedom, the smells and the peaceful sounds of the wind through he trees and the hay. The host was even kind enough to drop off some firewood for us when we got there and replenish them when needed. Definitely coming back again if the hosts will have us! It was also quite a beautiful drive and such a peaceful town.

I have about 3 acres with lots of gardens and surrounded by forest. There is a huge organic garden and greenhouse. We get lots of wildlife here. I'm about 20 minutes from Mount Wachusett and 5 minutes from the Quabbin. Lots of hiking all around, including from my farm (a nice 3 mile walk through a wildlife preserve). Worcester is about a 30 minute drive. Lot's of lakes all around with good fishing. The town of Barre has some excellent restaurants, a grocery store, hardware store, etc. This is an organic farm so you must use biodegradable products in you use my dump station. No bleach11 We close for the winter season from November 1 through the end of March.

We do not recommend having any animals off-leash, as he 50mph traffic on RT. 2 is very dangerous for animals. Always do tick checks, and to avoid poison ivy, STAY WITHIN RAILS AND CLEARINGS. We regularly maintain all paths and campsites to be free of poison ivy, but if you wander into unmaintained parts of the forest, you might contact poison ivy. Like any camping in the northeast, bring bug spray too! For travelers, this happens to be a VERY accessible location.

Souhegan Shores

Camp by the river bank of the Souhegan River under shade of oak, hickory, blue birch, hemlock and white pine. Let the song of the rapids sing you to sleep. Maybe the resident owls will join the serenade. This slice of heaven is only 5 minutes from the Everett Turnpike and within an hour from Boston. Weather concerns? The best forecast we've found for Merrimack is https://www.wmur.com/weather. Want to see what the river is doing? Check out https://water.noaa.gov/gauges/SOHN3. 500 CFS is a sporty run with canoe or kayak. SPECIAL NOTE: June 2nd Update River is at a nice level for boating for experienced boaters. A little pushy for swimmers. Roads dried out nicely and are passable. The wet and now June heat is bringing out the mosquitos. Bring your repellent and a Thermocell. Keeping the campfire burning helps as well. More description... Site-1 is located under the trees adjacent to our 3 acre meadow and Christmas Tree farm. Camp near the bank of the Souhegan River in the shade while listening to the river tumble over the ledges upstream. In season, enjoy the chest deep swimming hole 100 feet from your campsite. Two horses graze on the other side of the privacy fence. If you don't like friendly dogs try site 2 where we have a better chance of keeping our dog Wilson from dropping in to visit. He loves people too much not to want to greet folks on Site 1. Site-2 is at the farthest most downstream end of the property and from mid-May to mid-October it is totally screened by foliage. From your site you only see trees and the river. If you don't like other dogs, this is the site you want. Still no guarantee Wilson won't visit, but it's easier to keep Wilson away from this corner of the property. The other side of the river is town conservation land so the only people you're likely to see will be passing by in kayaks or on paddleboards. In dry season, both sites are a great place to start a float trip and you'll likely have the next 1.5 miles all to yourself since rapids up stream become impassable wet rocks in July and August. You are only two traffic lights away from the Merrimack Premium Outlet Mall if you need something to do during inclement weather.

Welcome to Rosy Goat Farm!! We are the quintessential family farm/homestead, our farmhouse was built in the 1840’s Bill and I bought this 13-acre property in 2012, It was overgrown with wild roses. We have worked with a limited budget, and used animals to clear the land. The goats love the wild roses. The pigs dig the roses up. Chickens rake it clean. Win win! Very interesting place here- lots to tell you, there’s quite a list of things to do and see around here! Did you know that Gilbertville has a covered bridge? It is one of the last covered bridges still in use in Massachusetts! First- a touch of Hardwick History: Rev. Timothy Ruggles bought this land from the Native Americans for his family to live on, and to work the land. His son, Brigadeer General Timothy Ruggles became unpopular after he introduced the Stamp Act, and was banished to Nova Scotia. His daughter Bathsheba became the last woman executed in the United States for the murder of her husband Joshua Spooner. (There’s a book about it called Murdered by his wife, by Deborah Navas.) Want to know local eateries? For breakfasts and lunch there is The Whistle Stop diner, it was a former Boston & Albany Railroad station. Speaking of railroads, did you know that The Mass Central Rail Trail runs through Gilbertville! Rose 32, is a well known bakery that serves tea, coffee and sandwiches. There’s Hardwick house of Pizza- for tasty pizza and subs, which also serves beer. Feeling fancy? Try Hardwick Crossing Country Club (features a 9 hole golf course), it has a restaurant with a full-service bar, gorgeous scenery! Also check out Stone Cow Brewery in Barre -has a kids play area while you wait for your meal! Ware has Mexicali Grill, Theresa’s Restaurant for Italian foods, Bellies Barnyard for traditional American cuisine, and, Pig Park BBQ for comfort food! Farmer Mat in North Brookfield has take out meals- there are picnic tables available, beautiful views. Things to do: You can kayak, and fish, at Swift River in Belchertown. Hardwick is the home of the oldest agricultural fair in the US, held every year in August, and, every Sunday there’s a small farmers market on the common. Hardwick also has a winery- Hardwick Vineyard and Winery, they have all kinds of events, (find them on facebook) and, check out Lost Towns brewery- the name is a throwback to the 4 towns that were submerged to create the Quabbin Reservoir! Medicine River Pow Wow is in August here in Gilbertville, on River Run Rd. The East Quabbin Land Trust has birdwatching and fabulous views, and the Mass Central Rail Trail entrance is located here. Bike it or hike it! Quabbin Reservoir is close by for boating and fishing. There are free concerts in Grenville Park in Ware, (check for dates). Ware also has Janine’s Frostee ice cream and fast foods- and live music on weekend nights! Welcome to Wequamps Haven in South Deerfield, with one of the nicest views of Mount Sugarloaf and North Sugarloaf Mountain, which together form the body of Wequamps of the local native legend. We have one camper site available, located on the edge of our 40 acres of protected land. Your site is on the old farm road near open, farmed fields, behind a well settled neighborhood near downtown. It is out of site of the main road and most neighbors, but still close to all the amenities in town. Half the acreage is flat, tillable land currently farmed by local farmers. The rest is pasture and woodland located on the hillside, abutting state park land which is part of Mount Sugarloaf Reservation. The view of the mountains and open farmland is beautiful at any time of year and the hillside pasture is a great place to watch the sun set over the valley below. It is the perfect site if you want a quiet, peaceful place to relax without going too far from civilization. Since it is an in-town location, it is easy to get to, close to I-91 and Routes 5&10. We are centrally located between Northampton, Amherst and Greenfield, which are all a short ride away, along with all the restaurants and attractions they have available. There are plenty of places nearby to walk, hike, bike, fish, kayak and swim so you can take full advantage of all the region has to offer. You may see rabbits, groundhogs, deer, opossum and numerous birds on the property. We have a resident red-tailed hawk and often spot pileated woodpeckers. You may occasionally hear coyotes or owls in the distance. Feel free to stroll the old farm road or enjoy our large backyard and covered patio which are areas we are happy to share as common spaces with our guests. Explore the lush Pioneer Valley or the many hill towns in our cozy western Mass. mountain ranges for all the farm stands, antique shops, historic sites or outdoor activities you could possibly hope for within easy reach. There are too many wonderful sights to see to list here but let us know your areas of interest and we’ll be happy to help you find them. We will provide a small picnic table, trash can and recycling bin. A small fire pit will also be provided with plenty of firewood available for purchase and potable water can be accessed from the garden hose. Come and recharge mentally and physically in serene and calming surroundings or fill your plate with local foods, sights and activities.

Hickory Ridge

Our property is 85 very private acres with an open field surrounded by forest and open wooded area with many trails. The forest is very diverse including some old growth maples and birches, as well as hemlock and pine trees. The campsites are at the edge of the field set back into the woods. I have recently added sand and gravel to improve drainage since the heavy rain we have had last year. We have a portable composting toilet outhouse and a hot outdoor shower. Feel free to explore all of the trails on foot or mountain bike. You may see some turkeys or deer out there. There is a small pond with lots of frogs and salamanders near the camping area, and a few seasonal streams on the property. You can hike a one mile loop on our newest trail. It is medium difficulty because of the hillside it is built on so hiking boots are recommended unless you are on a mountain bike. Rock walls built in the mid 1800s circle the property almost entirely so the borders are easy to see. The Deerfield river is a few miles away where you can fish for trout or go for a swim or kayak. The Connecticut river and the green river are about 15 minutes away as well. We have tubes, a canoe, and a kayak that are available to rent for some floating! Historic Deerfield village and Yankee Candle store and factory are about 10 minutes away. We are about 20 minutes from Northampton and Amherst.

Let’s work together. There is light traffic along the main road(hill), with people commuting to work or the occasional tractor but plenty of space to roam, hike, and explore around. Wilton is a great location to explore neighboring towns as well, drivable to Temple mountain/pack monadnock, mount monadnock, and Pat's peak/crotched mountain ski resort. This is pack in pack out. My animals and I live here so there are people in and out during the day. The farmer Walt is here most summer mornings/afternoons working on his vegetable garden. I communicate quickly, if you need anything just reach out. As one person already found out, yes there are bugs here and no I won’t treat for them with pesticides. The yard by the fire pit is treated with essential oils though! You’re welcome to use it! Fire Marshall wont let me put a pit out the field! Sorry! This in NOT a place for glampers(yet. Maybe some day!) happy hip camping!
