Spacious Skies Balsam Woods is a hidden paradise of a campground located right in the heart of Maine, just a half hour south of Moosehead Lake, the largest lake in Maine, and 60 miles as the crow flies from the northern terminus of the Appalachian Trail, Mt. Katahdin, in Baxter State Park. We offer both wooded and open sites that can accommodate most rigs. Each site includes a picnic table, fire ring, water, 30 or 50-amp electrical service, and most offer sewer. Groups and tent campers are welcome. Balsam Woods campground is less than a minute’s drive from Piper Pond, a 2-mile-long lake with public boat launch and beach access. Onsite, we have a camp store and snack bar stocked with necessities, treats, and goodies for the whole family. There is no shortage of fun activities with our heated pool, classic rec hall, playground, a new jumping pillow, and gem mining! *Please read full description before booking. Please be aware, this is rustic camping in the yard. This is not a campground or upscale facility. Welcome to Lilac Firefly! This is a residential 7 acre property in a quiet and safe neighborhood. We are right off the main road for easy access about 15-20 minutes south of Bangor. It is very peaceful and calm here. We live in the 5 bedroom older farmhouse where you can use the bathroom if needed. You will receive a code for the electronic door lock. Upon booking, I will send a welcome email with all info needed for your stay. There is a small stream and community fireplace by the 4 campsites and another fireplace closer to the garden. The designated campsites are at the rear of the property and are first come, first serve. A tent can be set up anywhere on the 7 acres and does not need to be in the designated campsite area. We have easily accommodated 20+ campers at once (6-8 groups), though typically you might be the only group here. Car camping, van life, and tents are welcome! We previously accepted RVs, but for 2026 this has changed due to tenants now in an RV. There are some lightly wooded areas, apple trees, a pear tree, and an open field. We are pet friendly and there animals that live here too. I travel a lot as a DJ and audio tech and might not be here, but have a self check in process and video I will send. Roommates are generally here. Maine Savings Amphitheatre is 15 min away (concerts in Bangor). Acadia National Park is just over 1 hour away. Bangor and Bucksport are both about 15 min away. Fort Knox is about 20 min away. From the campsites, the road and house are not visible. We have flowers when in season, deer, turkey, birds, and friendly creatures that visit. Please be ready to be self sufficient and sustainable in any weather. Well water is available at the RV posts and passes all tests - pure and safe for drinking. Chopped, split, and dried wood (pine) is available included in your Hipcamp fee! You can burn what you need for the day/night. Thank you. Please read the description carefully. The location is on the corner of RTE 1 and Powers Drive Lane. To enter, turn onto Powers Drive and take a sharp left into the first driveway and onto the grass back toward rte 1. Park parallel with Powers Drive Lane near the big oaks. Pajaritaflora Artist Studio/Gallery is located here. I am an artist. Welcome to my studio property. There is a long spacious spot for most sizes RV. It has level grass for you to park on. There is a group fire pit area on the grounds for everyone. Many people do not need electricity these days. So I have lowered the price of the spot. It is without electricity. You can add it on if you wish at $20 per night. You will need a long extension, and it is 20 amps. please request electric prior to visit. I have water for your holding tank. it is clean from my well and brought to you via garden hose. Sorry, no sewer. This is an excellent spot for a short stay. It is good if you need to be here a couple of days prior to your campground stay! I have been enjoying hosting campers here for the past two seasons. I can't wait to meet you! This is a huge level gravel pad up a long dirt driveway. Travel down a dirt road about 1 mile to find your oasis in nature. 4 wheel drive is not required but necessary if you bring an RV (please use 4 wheel drive when going up the driveway if you’re towing to avoid creating ruts in the drive way. A car will make it down the dirt road and up the semi-steep drive way. PLEASE DRIVE SLOW to respect the road and preserve the undercarriage of your car. Please bring everything you need for a great stay and take everything with you when you depart. The pad will accommodate multiple tents, a small to medium sized RV and 4-5 cars. There are no onsite amenities. Please bring your water and plan to take your trash with you. The area is lush and green and the stars are bright at night. Any fallen trees are yours to use for firewood. You can also take any small branches from the brush piles. We just ask that you do not cut down any other trees on the property. You have 13 acres all to yourself. There are a few short trails that lead to the rear of the property but they are very short and not maintained paths. Guests interactions: You are on your own! We will observe the property after your checkout. Please take everything with you and do not burn trash in the fire ring. There are nearby ATV trails. If you bring ATVs, kindly ask that you drive them carefully on our gravel pad, driveway, and dirt road (drive slow, no donuts please :)) Dogs are welcome! Bring your friends. Take your trash. Please respect our nature and pack it out if you pack it in. That includes anything you may or may not do in the woods. Do not leave tissue paper or piles of #2 on the paths. Use a bag, pack it out. Great location near Bar Harbor. The camp setup is nice and Juliebwas fantastic with coordination. You will have a little road noise in the mornings but it wasn't a big deal. Highly recommended if you want to explore town or Acadia.

We stayed in site 1 and we loved the privacy of our site. It was spacious and had both sunny and shady areas. I was able to put my solar panels out to charge the battery and they got full sun. I also left them out for two days without worrying about them getting stolen or something. Jane was responsive, communicated with us as needed and met us on our arrival. We really enjoyed our stay here and highly recommend Jane's place.

What a great spot! Down off a gravel road, with minimal traffic. There is a house you can barely see through the trees, but plenty of privacy. The hosts were great - good communication and even left us a goodie bag with some sweet treats and a deck of cards! (They even left us a couple of milkbones for our pups!) Would absolutely recommend!
